Objective Menopause symptoms can vary in type, duration, and severity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the key factors predicting severe symptoms among Korean perimenopausal women with various demographic data, obstetric and psychiatric histories, and menopausal symptoms screening scale scores. Methods Data were collected from 1,060 women, and 4 latent classes were identified using latent profile analysis, with 6 major categories of menopausal complaints. Among the 4 classes, we selectively used data from the “all unimpaired” and “all impaired” groups.Menopause rating scale (MRS), sociodemographic, obstetric, and psychiatric factors were assessed, and hierarchical logistic regression analyses were conducted with the “all impaired” group as a dependent variable. Results Marital status and scores on the psychological and somatic subscales of the MRS were statistically related to being in the “all impaired” group. Otherwise, family history of menopausal symptoms, menarche age, and history of other psychiatric disorders were not statistically significant predictors of being in the “all impaired” group. Conclusion The psychological and somatic subscales of the MRS predict the severity of perimenopausal syndrome better than obstetric and psychiatric history do among Korean perimenopausal women. Psychological and somatic symptoms as well as genitourinary symptoms in menopausal patients should be closely evaluated.
Impact of Severe Cervical Foraminal Stenosis on Contralateral C7 Nerve Transfer Outcomes

This report presents the case of a 67-year-old male patient with severe bilateral C6/7 foraminal stenoses who underwent contralateral seventh cervical nerve (C7) transfer as a treatment for left spastic hemiparesis resulting from a right middle cerebral artery infarction. The initial postoperative results showed improved spasticity and motor function, but these gains plateaued and even receded, unlike other studies that noted progress at 10–18 months post-surgery. We hypothesized that the presence of C7 radiculopathy due to severe cervical foraminal stenosis may affect long-term outcomes after contralateral C7 transfer and serve as a contraindication for this surgery. These findings emphasize the importance of thoroughly assessing patients with cervical foraminal stenosis and the associated risk of radiculopathy before considering a contralateral C7 transfer. Further research is needed to assess the prevalence of cervical foraminal stenosis in patients undergoing contralateral C7 transfer and explore alternative surgical approaches or adjunctive treatments to optimize postoperative outcomes.
Effects of adsorbent sampling variables on the accurate measurement of isoprene

Isoprene is an important volatile organic compound causing photochemical smog in the atmosphere; thus, accurate analysis of isoprene is essential. In this study, the effect of sampling conditions, including adsorbent types, sampling temperatures, and flow rates on the recovery of isoprene, was investigated. Common adsorption traps of isoprene, including Tenax TA/Carbosieve SIII, Tenax TA/Carbotrap, were used as adsorbents. Sampling temperatures varied from 25 °C to 40 °C. Sampling flow rates were 50, 100, and 200 mL min−1. It was found that the Tenax/Carbotrap trap revealed the highest isoprene recovery rate; however, the Tenax/Carbosieve SIII trap depicted more significant loss of isoprene than the other one. As for sampling variables, the lower the temperatures and flow rates concerned were, the higher the isoprene recovery was. It was concluded that sampling temperatures and flow rates should be ≤35 °C and ≤50 mL min−1 during a sampling process, respectively. In addition, Carbosieve SIII should not be used for isoprene sampling due to its poor recovery rate.

The nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) is the master transcriptional regulator in adipogenesis. PPARγ forms a heterodimer with another nuclear receptor, retinoid X receptor (RXR), to form an active transcriptional complex, and their transcriptional activity is tightly regulated by the association with either coactivators or corepressors. In this study, we identified T-cell death-associated gene 51 (TDAG51) as a novel corepressor of PPARγ-mediated transcriptional regulation. We showed that TDAG51 expression is abundantly maintained in the early stage of adipogenic differentiation. Forced expression of TDAG51 inhibited adipocyte differentiation in 3T3-L1 cells. We found that TDAG51 physically interacts with PPARγ in a ligand-independent manner. In deletion mutant analyses, large portions of the TDAG51 domains, including the pleckstrin homology-like, glutamine repeat and proline-glutamine repeat domains but not the proline-histidine repeat domain, are involved in the interaction with the region between residues 140 and 506, including the DNA binding domain, hinge, ligand binding domain and activation function-2 domain, in PPARγ. The heterodimer formation of PPARγ-RXRα was competitively inhibited in a ligand-independent manner by TDAG51 binding to PPARγ. Thus, our data suggest that TDAG51, which could determine adipogenic cell fate, acts as a novel negative regulator of PPARγ by blocking RXRα recruitment to the PPARγ-RXRα heterodimer complex in adipogenesis.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Tuberculosis remains a serious health problem worldwide. Characterization of the dendritic cell (DC)-activating mycobacterial proteins has driven the development of effective TB vaccine candidates besides improving the understanding of immune responses. Some studies have emphasized the essential role of protein Rv2220 from <I>M. tuberculosis</I> in mycobacterial growth. Nonetheless, little is known about cellular immune responses to Rv2220. In this study, our aim was to test whether protein Rv2220 induces maturation and activation of DCs. Rv2220-activated DCs appeared to be in a mature state with elevated expression of relevant surface molecules and proinflammatory cytokines. DC maturation caused by Rv2220 was mediated by MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways. Specifically, Rv2220-matured DCs induced the expansion of memory CD62L<SUP>low</SUP>CD44<SUP>high</SUP>CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells in the spleen of mycobacteria-infected mice. Our results suggest that Rv2220 regulates host immune responses through maturation of DCs, a finding that points to a new vaccine candidate against tuberculosis.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Rv2220 triggers functional maturation of DCs. </LI> <LI> DC maturation caused by Rv2220 was mediated by MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways. </LI> <LI> Rv2220-matured DCs induced the expansion of memory/effector T cells. </LI> <LI> Rv2220 may lead to new vaccine strategies against TB. </LI> </UL> </P>

본 논문에서는 패션디자이너를 위한 빠르게 변화하는 트렌드 분석을 위한 패션 아이템별 세부 컨포넌트 이미지 분류 알고리즘을 제안한다. COVID-19 환경으로 인하여 AI 기반 쇼핑몰에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행중이다. 하지만 기존의 키워드 검색과 사용자 서핑 행위 기반 개인 맞춤형 스타일 추천으로는 트렌드 분석에 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 전처리 방식을 비교분석하여 선정한 MASK-RCNN을 사용하여 객체를 추출하고, CNN모델을 통해 분류하는 모델을 개발하였으며 세부적으로 다양한 패션 아이템에 대한 세부 컨포넌트 단위의 분류를 진행하였고, 예측 모델을 이용한 검증을 통해 구현모델의 성능을 분석하였다.
