EtOAc soluble part of MeOH extract of Anemarrbena asphodeloides rhizome was evaluated for the cytotoxicity against the five kinds of human tumor cell lines (A-549, SK-OV-3, SK-MEL-2, XF498 and HCT15) in vitro. Bioassay-guided fractionation of EtOAc soluble part led to the isolation of active compound which was identified as timosaponin A-Ⅲ1 showed potent cytotoxic activity, but its genin, sarsasapogenin, did not show cell growth inhibition.

5-Aryl-2,3-dihydroimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolines were reported to have strong antitumor activity and one of the derivatives such as $5-[4^{l}$ -(piperidinomethyl)phenyl]-2,3-dihydroimidazo[2,1-a] isoquinoline (1, SDZ 62-434) was found to be more effective than the clinical cytostatic agent edelfosine (2) in in vitro and in vivo assays. Currently SDZ 62-434 is in clinical trials in Europe. The structure-activity relationship studies of SDZ 62-434 showed that compounds with substitution on ring A were less active than the lead compound. Ring B in SDZ 62-434 was essential for the activity because compounds without B ring had no antitumor activity. Among the 3-arylisoquinolin-1-one derivatives, $3-[4^{I}$-(piperidinomethyl)phenyl] substituted analog had no antitumor activity but simple phenyl substituted compound, such as 4, showed the most potent antitumor activity in various human tumor cell lines.

A number of substituted isoquinolin-1-ones, possible bioisosteres of the 5-aryl substituted 2,3-dihydroimidazo[2,$1-a$]isoquinolines, were synthesized and tested for their antitumor activity against five different human tumor cell lines. O-(3-hydroxyporpyl) substituted compound (15) exhibited the best antitumor activity which is 3-5 times better than 5-[$4^1$-(piperidinomethyl)phenyl]-2,3-dihydroimidazo[2,$1-a$]isoquinoline (1).

<P>The primo vascular system (PVS) in a lymph system was observed mostly in large caliber ducts around the caudal vena cava of rabbits, rats, and mice. This required a severe surgery with laparectomy and massive removal of fat tissues in the abdomen to expose the lymph vessel. In the current brief report, we presented a new method to evade these shortcomings by observing the PVS in a less large caliber duct in the skin, that is, the lymph vessel from the inguinal to the axillary nodes. The Alcian blue injection into the inguinal node revealed the desired primo vessel in the target lymph vessel. This opened a new perspective for the investigation of the lymphatic PVS without severe damage to subject animals and for monitoring of the PVS in a long period of time.</P>

<P>The present study evaluated the alkaline phosphatase activity, cell cycle stage, expression of markers and early transcriptional factors, and in vitro differentiation into selected cell lineages of porcine stem/stromal cells (SCs) isolated from skin (SSCs), adipose, and ovarian (OSCs) tissues. Skin and adipose SCs were isolated from a 6-month-old miniature pig, whereas OSCs were isolated from a newly born piglet. Isolated cells exhibited fibroblast-like cell population with significant renewal capacity and formed colonies by cells out-growth. All cells were positive for alkaline phosphatase activity and showed a relatively lower population at G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle. SCs derived from all tissues were strongly positive for cell surface markers, such as CD29, CD44, CD90, and vimentin. Further, relatively lower expression of cytokeratin and immunophenotype markers, such as major histocompatibility complex II (MHCII) and swine leukocyte antigen (SLA), was also observed. SCs derived from all tissues positively expressed the transcription factors, such as Oct-3/4, Nanog, and Sox-2. After induction, all SCs successfully differentiated into osteocytes and adipocytes and expressed the lineage specific marker genes. Further, cells from all tissues exhibited their potential for in vitro oogenesis with morphological changes and expression of markers during the germ-cell formation, namely Oct-4, growth differentiation factor 9b, c-Mos, Vasa, deleted in azoospermia-like gene, zona pellucida C, and follicle stimulating hormone receptor. Apart from basic features and selected lineage potential among all types of cells, OSCs possessed a greater ability to differentiate into the germ cell lineage in vitro.</P>

The cytotoxicity-directed fractionation of MeOH extract of Terminalia chebula fruits led to the isolation of three hydrolyzed tannins and a related compound, gallic acid(1), $1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloy-{\beta}-_D/-glucopyranose(II)$,. chebulagic acid (III) and chebulinic acid(IV), as active principles. They were shoen to exhibit moderate cytotoxicity against cultured human tumor cell lines including A-549, SK-OV-3, Sk-MEL-2, XF-498 and HCT-15 in vitro.

Moore’s law has driven silicon technology scale down aggressively, and it results in significant increase of leakage current on nano-meter scale CMOS. Especially, in mobile devices, leakage current has been one of designers’ main concerns, and thus many studies have introduced low power methodologies. However, there are few studies to minimize implementation cost in the mixed use of the methodologies to the best of our knowledge. In this paper, we introduce industrial applications of low power design methodologies for the decrease of leakage current. We focus on the design cost reduction of power gating and reverse body bias when used together. Also, we present voltage scale as an alternative to reverse body bias. To sustain gate leakage current, we discuss the adoption of high-κ metal gate, which cuts gate leakage current by a factor of 10 in 32 ㎚ CMOS technology. A 45 ㎚ mobile SoC is shown as the case study of the mixed use of low power methodologies.
