<P>The recent progress in photonic nanomaterials has contributed greatly to the development of photomedicines. However, the finite depth of light penetration is still a serious limitation, constraining their clinical applications. Here, we developed a. poly(allylamine) (PAAm)-modified upconversion nanoparticle/hyaluronate rose bengal (UCNP/PAAm/HA-RB) conjugate complex for photochemical bonding of deep tissue with near-infrared (NIR) light illumination. Compared to the conventional invasive treatment via suturing and stapling, the UCNP/PAAm/HA-RB conjugate complex could be noninvasively delivered into the deep tissue and accelerate the tissue bonding upon NIR light illumination. HA in the outer layer of the complex facilitated the penetration of RB into the collagen layer of the dermis. The NIR light triggered UCNP of NaYF4: Yb/Er (Y:Yb:Er = 78:20:2) in the complex to illuminate visible green light under the skin tissue. The activated RB in the HA-RB conjugate by the green light induced radical formation for the cross linking of incised collagen matrix. An in vitro light propagation test and collagen fibrillogenesis analysis, an in vivo animal tissue bonding test, and an ex vivo tensile strength test of dissected skin tissues confirmed the successful photochemical tissue bonding effect of the UCNP/PAAm/HA-RB conjugate complex.</P>
표준화재에 3시간 노출된 CFRP Rebar로 보강된 콘크리트 충전강관기둥의 압축과 휨 성능

건축물이 복합화, 고층화됨에 따라 콘크리트충전강관기둥(Concrete Filled Steel Tube, 이하 CFT기둥)의 사용이 증가한다. CFT기둥은 강관의 콘크리트를 구속함에 따라 국부좌굴을 방지하며 콘크리트 축열효과로 일정한 내화성능을 보유하고 있다. 기둥의 축, 휨 성능을 보강하기 위해 CFT기둥 내부에 철근을 배치한다. 철근대체재로서 내부식성이 우수한 탄소섬유보강근(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic, 이하 CFRP Rebar)의 사용 빈도가 증가하고 있다. 탄소섬유(Carbon Fiber)는 임계온도가 250℃이고 수지(Resin)의 유리전이온도는 60~80℃로 철근의 임계온도 기준인 평균온도 538℃, 최대온도 649℃에 비해 현저하게 낮아 내화성을 담보하면서 구조성능을 유지하도록 배치에 대한 주의가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 CFT기둥에 CFRP Rebar를 보강했을 때 온도를 확인하기 위해 범용 유한요소프로그램인 ABAQUS를 사용하여 열전달해석(Heat Transfer)을 진행하였다. 뿜칠내화피복재(Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material, SFRM) 0, 10, 20, 30mm와 콘크리트 피복두께 40, 60, 80, 100mm를 변수로 설정하여 CFT기둥 단면의 온도분포를 확인하였다. 온도 상승에 따른 재료 저감계수를 적용하여 기둥의 축, 휨 내력 P-M상관도를 도출하였다. CFRP Rebar의 기둥 내측으로 배치하면 휨 성능효과는 감소되지만 피복두께 확보로 온도 최소화 효과를 얻을 수 있는 것을 확인하였다.

한국인터넷진흥원 종합분석팀은 사이버 위협 인텔리전스(CTI)를 통해 주요 침해사고를 추적하여 분석하고 이에 대한 대응방안을 마련, 공유하는 역할을 수행하고 있다. 구체적으로는 외부 협력채널 혹은 기존 사고에서 사용된 악성도구의 흔적을 기반으로 악성 인프라를 탐지하고, 이에 대한 공격자의 전략을 상세히 분석, 정리한 보고서를 발간하여 기업의 보안수준을 제고하려 노력하고 있다. 본고에서는 사이버 위협 인텔리전스 측면에서 변화한 종합분석의 관점 및 역할을 소개하고, 고도화되어가는 침해사고를 대응하기 위한 향후 전략을 제안한다.

Objective: This study aims to reveal the relationship of depression with growth factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), nerve growth factor (NGF), and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in inpatients diagnosed with alcohol depend-ence, and to identify candidate growth factors as biological markers to indicate the comorbid of alcohol dependence and depression. Methods: This study examined demographic factors in 45 alcohol-dependent patients. The ADS (Korean version of the Alcohol Dependence Scale) and BDI (Korean version of Beck’s Depression Inventory) were used. BDNF, NGF, and IGF-1 were measured through ELISA. Results: The average drinking quantity and the ADS score were significantly more severe in alcohol-dependent patients with depression than in those without depression. Linearly comparing BDNF, NGF, and IGF-1 with BDI values, IGF-1 was the growth factor significantly correlated with BDI scores. BDI scores were significantly correlated with ADS scores. IGF-1 was significantly higher in alcohol-dependent patients with depression. Alcohol-dependent patients with depression had greater alcohol use and more severe ADS scores. BDNF and NGF showed no significant difference between alcohol-dependent patients with and without depression, but IGF-1 was significantly higher in those with than in those without depression. Conclusion: IGF-1 was found to be associated with depression in alcohol-dependent patients, suggesting that IGF-1 in alco-hol-dependent patients could be an important biomarker to indicate whether alcohol-dependence is accompanied by depression.
Defect-Induced Fluorescence of Silica Nanoparticles for Bioimaging Applications

<P>With biocompatibility, biodegradability, and high functionality, silica nanoparticles (SNPs) have been widely investigated for various biomedical applications. However, lack of optical fluorescence has limited the application of SNPs as a degradable imaging agent. Here, we hydrothermally synthesized fluorescent SNPs by artificially generating optically active defect centers using tetraethyl orthosilicate and (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane. The synthesized SNPs demonstrated strong blue photoluminescence originating from the dioxasilyrane (=Si(O<SUB>2</SUB>)) and silylene (=Si:) defect centers with the aid of aminopropyl groups. Furthermore, phosphorescence was observed at 459 nm, indicating the presence of silylene in SNPs. Finally, these SNPs have been successfully utilized as a fluorescent probe for bioimaging of normal, cancer, and macrophage cells.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) has been extensively used in civil engineering forapplications such as reinforcing and retrofitting various architectural materials. Therefore, understanding thedegradation of CFRP under high temperatures is important. This study aims to investigate the thermomechanicaland microstructural properties of CFRP plates at elevated temperatures up to 350 oC. The platetypeCFRP composites were subjected to temperatures of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, and 350 oC, and thencompared with pristine CFRP samples. X-ray diffraction analysis was conducted to examine the crystalstructures of the carbon fibers and epoxy resin matrices in the CFRP. At temperatures higher than 150 oC,the FWHM increased due to the degradation and softening of the resin matrix. Delamination and debondingbetween the matrix and fibers were observed in samples exposed to temperatures above 200 oC. The maximumtensile strength of the CFRP plates exposed at 350 oC significantly decreased to 0.605 GPa, a reduction ofapproximately 40% compared to the pristine sample. On the other hand, Young's modulus remained relativelyunchanged across the different temperatures. This suggests that the polymer matrix degradation plays acrucial role in the mechanical properties of CFRP, as the matrix layers contribute significantly to thedistribution of forces.

<P>Human parathyroid hormone 1-34 fragment (PTH1-34) has been used as a FDA-approved therapeutics to treat osteoporosis by daily subcutaneous injection. In this work, we successfully developed PTH1-34 conjugated hyaluronic acid (HA) for the transdermal treatment of osteoporosis with improved patient compliance. HA-PTH1-34 conjugate was synthesized by the coupling reaction between aldehyde group introduced to HA and amine group of PTH1-34. After characterization by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and ELISA, the biological effect of HA-PTH1-34 conjugate on the proliferation of human osteoblast cells was confirmed by in vitro calcium colorimetric assay and cAMP assay. Two-photon microscopy clearly visualized the effective skin penetration of FITC modified HA-PTH1-34 conjugate. The transdermally delivered HA-PTH1-34 conjugates elevated the blood calcium concentration for more than 2days, reflecting the feasibility for the treatment of osteoporosis.</P>
Fire Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Filled Square Steel Tube Columns Under Constant Axial Loads

A composite member made of concrete-filled steel tubes (CFT columns) has been recognized for its fire resistance due to the thermal mass effect of concrete inside the steel tube, as shown in various studies. In this study, the fire resistance performance of reinforced CFT columns under constant axial load was evaluated using finite element analysis with ABAQUS. For this purpose, the variables including cross-section size, steel tube thickness, and concrete cover thickness were set, and the temperature distribution in the column cross-section exposed to a standard fire was investigated using heat transfer analysis. Ultimately, a P-M interaction curve was obtained by evaluating the overall residual strength of columns, and the fire resistance time was determined by evaluating axial displacement-time responses due to the reduction in load capacity during fire through stress analysis.
