장애 영유아 생태교육에 대한 장애통합어린이집 보육교사와 특수교사의 인식 및 실천과 요구

본 연구는 장애 영유아 생태교육의 방향성을 설정하고자 장애통합어린이집에 재직하고 있는 보육교사와 특수교사의 장애 영유아 생태교육의 인식과 실천을 알아보았다. 134개 장애통합어린이집에 재직 중인 보육교사 212명과 특수교사 121명, 총 333명을 대상으로 근무 중인 어린이집의 생태유아교육 현황과 교사교육 실태, 생태유아교육에 대한 인식과 실천 및 개방형 문항으로 작성한 시행의 어려움과 요구 관련 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 어린이집의 생태유아교육 단계는 두 집단 모두 심화과정 1단계(2년차)이었고, 생태유아교육과 다른프로그램을 같이 사용하고 있었으며, 외부 교사교육 등을 통해 생태유아교육을 접한 경우가 높았다. 둘째, 장애 영유아 생태교육에 대한 인식은 보육교사보다 특수교사가 유의하게 높게 나타났고, 셋째, 장애 영유아 생태교육 프로그램 실천에서도 특수교사가 유의하게 높았다. 각각의 집단에서 인식과 실천은 유의한 정적 상관을 나타냈다. 넷째. 장애 영유아 생태교육의 어려운 점은 두 집단 모두 ‘장애 영유아의 개별적 특성과 요구’라고 하였고, 장애 영유아 생태교육의 정착을 위한 요구는 ‘교사의 전문성, 교육’으로 응답하였다. 이러한 결과들을 근거로 장애영유아 생태교육의 활성화를 위한 교사 지원 관련 논의가 수행되었다. This study investigated the present status and related teacher education, the perception and practice, difficulties and needs of ecological early childhood education(ECE) for ECE teachers and special education teachers in inclusive child care and education centers. This study surveyed a total of 333 teachers, including 212 early childhood and 121 special education teachers. The data were analyzed statistically. In the case of open-ended questions the contents were categorized, and the frequency was measured by two groups. This study derived following results. First, on regarding the present status of ecological ECE and teacher education, teachers answered as first stage(second year). Regarding the ECE program, teachers implemented ecological ECE in combination with other programs. The most common method was external in-service teacher education. Second, regarding the perception of the ECE curriculum for preschoolers with disabilities, special education teachers showed higher than early childhood teachers significantly. Third, for the practice, special education teachers also showed higher than early childhood teachers significantly. A significant positive correlations was also observed between perception and practice of ecological ECE in each group. Fourth, regarding the difficulties in generalizing ecological ECE for preschoolers with disabilities, both groups responded “individual characteristics and needs of preschoolers with disabilities” in the first place. For needs, both groups indicated “teacher expertise and education” as the first prerequisite. Based on the results, discussions and suggestions for follow-up research were presented.

An adult raccoon dog with extensive, deep, and contaminated wounds on the right hip and multiple fractures was rescued. The open wound was managed daily by debridement and flushing for 3 weeks. Modified active drainage was then performed, and antibiotics administered according to the antibiotic susceptibility test. After 2 weeks, the exudate disappeared and the drain was removed. After monitoring for 1 month, the animal was released in to the wild. This case shows that even if infection remains, rapid wound repair is possible if appropriate antibiotic selection through regular examination and active drainage are combined.

Successful Management of Subcutaneous Abscess in a Captive Leopard Gecko (Eublepharis macularius)

An 8 month old leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) with a large nodule was referred to our hospital. During the physical examination, the nodule had an unclear boundary from the top of the left eye to the front of the left ear and prevented the opening of the left eye. A hard, cheese-like, yellow, pus-filled nodule was observed. A cytological examination of a pus swab sample revealed pyogranulomatous inflammation with rod-shaped bacteria. Ofloxacin was cho- sen as the empirical topical antimicrobial drug for treatment. The swab samples were inoculated in trypticase soy agar with 5% sheep blood and incubated at 37°C for 24 h. Gram-negative bacteria were identified via Gram staining, and the Kirby-Bauer antimicrobial susceptible disk diffusion test against 24 antibiotics ac- cording to protocol M100-Ed32 of CLSI showed that the fluoroquinolone group (ciprofloxacin and enrofloxacin) was susceptible to the isolated bacteria. Molec- ular identification based on 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing confirmed that the isolated bacteria had a 99.85% nucleotide similarity with Serratia surfactant- faciens (GenBank accession no. CP014948). After 1 week, the boundaries of the nodule became clear; thus, the abscess was physically removed by expanding the hole formed above the eye for drainage, and flushing was repeated. After another 1 week, new tissue restoration without scarring was observed. This is a rare case report of the successful management of a subcutaneous abscess and scar-free healing in a lizard.
