        도시지역 여자고등학생들의 체형과 체형에 대한 의식 및 자각증상과의 관계

        Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between body type subjective symptoms and health awareness in female high school students Methods: The subjects were 393 students at the female high school in Taejon City by self-recorded questionnaires in May, 2006. Results: In the classification of body type based on the degree of obesity low weight group was 20.9% normal weight group was 58.0% over weight group was 11.7% and obesity group was 9.4% In the level of body type awareness those who consider themselves to be obesity type 13.7% standard type were 43.8% and leptosomic type 8.1% but there was a clear tendency to be leptosomic type that the rate was 76.3% In the complaint rates of subjective symptoms "fatigue" was the highest followed by "neck pain(stiffness)", "dizziness", "stomachache" in the descending order In the complaint rates of subjective symptoms by the degree of obesity dizziness irregular menstruation and anorexia were higher according to the lower obesity but constipation and wearied eyes were the higher the more obesity Conclusion: The study results showed that the recent female high school students were clear tendency to be leptosomic type and leptosomic and obesity type were related with subjective symptoms Considering these findings it appeared that being excessively thin is related to symptoms and young women's thinness-oriented attitudes are unhealthful.

      • 평균대 경기 시 앞 공중돌기 동작에 대한 운동학적 분석

        본 연구는 평균대에서 수행되는 앞 공중돌기 동작의 효율적인 동작을 연기하는데 필요한 정보를 제공하기 위한 운동학적 요인을 살펴보는 데 있다. 연구대상은 부산동아시아 체조경기대회(1997년)평균대 종목별 결승에 참가한 한국선수 1명, 카자흐스탄 2명, 일본선수 1명을 대상으로 3차원 영상 분석을 통하여 운동학적 요인을 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 각국면별 소요시간 도움닫기 시간은 스텝시간이 대상자별로 다르게 실시함으로서 수행시간간에 차이를 보였다. 도약 시간은 선행연구 결과에 비해 본 연구의 대상자들이 보다 짧은 시간을 나타냈으며, 체공시간은 길게 소요하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 체공 및 착자시 인체중심 높이는 선행연구된 마루 운동의 수행 결과들 보다는 다소 낮게 나타났다. 3. 도약시 인체중심 속도는 수직속도보다 수평속도가 높게 나타났다. 4. 도약 및 착지시 선정된 각 관절의 각도는 선행연구 결과들 보다 무릎각을 제외한 발목, 고관절 각도에서 적은 각도를 나타내 불안정한 착지를 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic variable of a forward somersault motion in balance beam. Two video cameras were used for 3-dimentional analysis. The subjects were four female gymnasts who is participated in the '97 east asian game. The conclusions are follows. 1. Time of each phase The time of run-up was shown a difference between performance time as type of step patterns of each subjects. The time of support was display a more short time in the gymnasts of present study compared to gymnasts of previous study, and it was shown a long time in the flight phase. 3. The velocity of center of gravity in supports phase was shown more high levels in horizontal velocity than vertical velocity. 4. The angle of each joint in support and landing was display a low angles in ankle and hip joint angles except to knee joint angles. Therefore, it was performing a unbalanced landing.

        정상교합자와 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자의 경추골성숙도에 관한 연구

        정상교합자와 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자간의 성장 정도에 차이가 있는지를 평가하기 위해 8-12세 여자를 대상으로 하여 진단 석고 모형과 측모두부방사선사진을 기준으로 정상교합자 172명 , 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자 191명 총 363명을 분류하여 연구를 시행하였다. 경추의 하연의 만곡도와 수직·수평 길이의 비를 측정해서 연령이 증가함에 따른 변화를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 연령이 증가함에 따라 제2~6경추의 하연의 만곡도는 정상교합자와 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자 모두에서 일정하게 증가하였다. 2. 연령이 증가함에 따라 제3~6경추의 수직·수평 길이의 비도 정상교합자와 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자 모두에서 일정하게 증가하였다. 3. 제2~6경추의 하연의 만곡도와 제3~6경추의 수직·수평 길이의 비에서 정상교합자와 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자간의 경추골성숙도 차이를 조사한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이상의 결과에서 정상교합자와 골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합자간의 경추골성숙도를 비교했을 때 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으므로 성장에 차이가 없음을 시사하였다. This study was to evaluate and compare differences of the cervical vertebral skeletal maturity of normal occlusion and skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion. Normal occlusion (172 girls) and skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion(191 girls) were classified according to diagnosis stone model and lateral cephalogram of Korean girls aging from 8 to 12 years. The concavity of inferior border, vertico-horizontal ratio of cervical vertebrae were observed and measured according to age. Differences of the cervical vertebral skeletal maturity were evaluated. The results were as follows : 1. The concavity of inferior border of the 2nd to 6th vertebrae of normal occlusion and skeletal Class Ⅲ had uniformly increased with age. 2. The vertico-horizontal ratio of the 3rd to 6th vertebrae of girls with normal occlusion and skeletal Class Ⅲ had uniformly increased with age. 3. There was no significant difference in cervical vertebral skeletal maturity between normal occlusion and skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion in the concavity of inferior border of the 2nd to 6th vertebrae and in the vertico-horizontal ratio of the 3rd to 6th vertebrae. The results in the study indicate that there is no significant difference of cervical vertebral skeletal maturity between girls with normal occlusion and skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion.

        Short-term regulation of the hepatic activities of cytochrome P450 and glutathione <i>S</i>-transferase by nose-only cigarette smoke exposure in mice

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The present study aimed to determine the effects of cigarette smoke on the regulation of hepatic cytochrome P450 (CYP) and glutathione <I>S</I>-transferase (GST) enzymes in male BALB/c mice exposed to nose-only cigarette smoke for 4 days. There were no significant increases in serum liver injury markers (alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase) or oxidative stress (total antioxidant capacity, malondialdehyde, and glutathione disulfide/reduced glutathione) following cigarette smoke exposure, but malondialdehyde was elevated in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of smoke-exposed mice. Additionally, the hepatic microsomal protein levels of Cyp1a and Cyp2b, and the activities of ethoxyresorufin <I>O</I>-deethylase, pentoxyresorufin <I>O</I>-depenylase, and chlorzoxazone 6-hydrxylase, were elevated in smoke-exposed mice. Interestingly, the hepatic activities of GST toward 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene, 1,2-dichloro-4-nitrobenzene, and ethacrynic acid, but not cumene hydroperoxide were enhanced by cigarette smoke exposure, which was consistent with the increased expression levels of mu- and pi-class GSTs, but not alpha-class GSTs, observed in immunoblot analyses. These findings indicate that the short-term inhalation of cigarette smoke induces drug-metabolizing enzymes such as CYP1A, CYP2B, and mu/pi-class GSTs in the absence of hepatic injury and oxidative stress. Furthermore, smoking may alter hepatic drug metabolism, as well as the disposition and toxicity of xenobiotics, including some therapeutic drugs and cigarette smoke constituents.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Hepatotoxicity was not observed in mice exposed to cigarette smoke for 4 days. </LI> <LI> Hepatic protein levels of Cyp1a and Cyp2b were elevated. </LI> <LI> Hepatic activities of EROD, PROD, and chlorzoxazone hydroxylase were elevated. </LI> <LI> Hepatic proteins and mu- and pi-class GST activities were induced. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Thermal Characterization of Individual Pixels in Microbolometer Image Sensors by Thermoreflectance Microscopy

        Thermal characterization of individual pixels in microbolometer infrared image sensors is needed for optimal design and improved performance. In this work, we used thermoreflectance microscopy on uncooled microbolometer image sensors to investigate the thermal characteristics of individual pixels. Two types of microbolometer image sensors with a shared-anchor structure were fabricated and thermally characterized at various biases and vacuum levels by measuring the temperature distribution on the surface of the microbolometers. The results show that thermoreflectance microscopy can be a useful thermal characterization tool for microbolometer image sensors.

        Ultrawideband photonic crystal fiber coupler for multiband optical imaging system

        <P>We report a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) coupler having an ultrawide spectral bandwidth keeping single mode operation. The use of the PCF coupler in a fiber-based optical coherence tomography (OCT) system enables us to handle the wide spectral bands of various light sources, including superluminescent diodes (SLDs) at 1300 nm and 820 nm, Ti:sapphire lasers, and white-light sources. The multiband imaging performances of the PCF-based OCT system are demonstrated by obtaining dental images at 1300 nm and 820 nm with the same setup. In addition, we show that the PCF coupler could cover the spectrum over a one octave span and guide both the fundamental wave (1030 nm) and the second harmonic wave (515 nm) simultaneously.</P>

      • Hippocampal and entorhinal structures in subjective memory impairment: a combined MRI volumetric and DTI study

        <B>ABSTRACT</B><B>Background:</B><P>Subjective memory impairment (SMI) is common among older adults. Increasing evidence suggests that SMI is a risk factor for future cognitive decline, as well as for mild cognitive impairment and dementia. Medial temporal lobe structures, including the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex, are affected in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. The current study examined the gray matter (GM) volume and microstructural changes of hippocampal and entorhinal regions in individuals with SMI, compared with elderly control participants without memory complaints.</P><B>Methods:</B><P>A total of 45 participants (mean age: 70.31 ± 6.07 years) took part in the study, including 18 participants with SMI and 27 elderly controls without memory complaints. We compared the GM volume and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) measures in the hippocampal and entorhinal regions between SMI and control groups.</P><B>Results:</B><P>Individuals with SMI had lower entorhinal cortical volumes than control participants, but no differences in hippocampal volume were found between groups. In addition, SMI patients exhibited DTI changes (lower fractional anisotropy (FA) and higher mean diffusivity in SMI) in the hippocampal body and entorhinal white matter compared with controls. Combining entorhinal cortical volume and FA in the hippocampal body improved the accuracy of classification between SMI and control groups.</P><B>Conclusions:</B><P>These findings suggest that the entorhinal region exhibits macrostructural as well as microstructural changes in individuals with SMI, whereas the hippocampus exhibits only microstructural alterations.</P>
