Marine Algal Flora on Goheung Coast, Korea

To understand the marine algal flora on Goheung coast, Korea, marine algae at 8 points were collected from November 2008 to February 2009 and from April to June 2009. Thirty-seven species (2 species of angiosperms, 5 chlorophytes, 12 phaeophytes, and 18 rhodophytes) occurred from fall to winter and 52 species (2 species of angiosperms, 9 chlorophytes, 18 phaeophytes, and 23 rhodophytes) occurred from spring to summer. Commonly occurring species were Ulva pertusa, Sargassum thunbergii, Hizikia fuziformis, and Gelidium amansii, and dominant species at most points were Ulva pertusa, Sargassum thunbergii, and Gelidium amansii. The average of the ratio of total rhodophytes and chlorophytes to phaeophytes ((R+C)/P) was 1.61 in fall to winter and 1.69 in spring to summer, and the average Laminariales/Fucales/Dictyotales (LFD) ratio was 1.14 in fall to winter and 1.18 in spring to summer. These results show that the marine algal flora of Goheung could be considered as temperate. The LFD ratio was fit for showing a feature of algal flora of Goheung. Species diversity index was high at Points 4~6 while low at Points 1 and 8. Detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) showed that the similarity of occurring species at Points 3 and 4 was higher than the other points from fall to winter, whereas the occurred species at Points 1~4 were similar from spring to summer. The average values of ecological evaluation index (EEI) of the investigation points were 6.8 from fall to winter and 6.3 from spring to summer, which means that the ecological environment of the investigation points were middle class and the EEI values of outer sea points were higher than the inner bay points.
계통전압 불평형시 DFIG를 이용한 풍력발전 시스템의 동적 모델링 및 제어기법

본 논문은 계통전압 불평형시 이중여자 유도형 풍력발전기 (Doubly Fed Induction Generator-DFIG)의 토크 리플 저감과 dc-link 전압의 맥동을 제거하는 기법을 제안한다. 계통전압 불평형 시 DFIG의 동적 모델링을 통해 토크 맥동 성분과 dc-link 전압 리플 성분을 수식화 한다. 유도된 수식을 기반으로 회전자 측 컨버터는 정상분과 역상분을 독립적으로 제어하는 듀얼 전류 제어기를 통해 토크 리플을 저감하며, 계통 측 컨버터는 전력이론을 통해 계산된 보상 전류 지령치를 통해 cd-link 전압 맥동을 제거한다. 3㎾급 풍력 발전 시스템에 제안하는 기법을 적용한 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 타당성을 입증한다.
전기적 임피던스 방법을 통한 hand-held 타입의 심박출량 모니터링 시스템 개발 및 검증

The impedance cardiogram has been proposed as a non-invasive, continuous, operator independent, and cost-effective method for cardiac output monitoring. However, it can not be completely considered as non-restrictive method beacuse of attached spot and band type electrodes. Therefore, we developed a improved convenient hand-held typed measurement system for cardiac output by electrical impedance technique. 80 subjects from Yonsei University and the surrounding areas, participated. All subjects measured stroke volume and cardiac output through Physioflow and developed system. To verify the developed system, statistical methods such as correlation, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, and the Bland-Altman analysis were used. The proposed system showed significant correlation in both male and female stroke volume(r=0.715, r=0.704) and cardiac output(r=0.826; r=0.804). From these results, it can be concluded that stroke volume and cardiac output could be improved convenient measurement using the both hands without the help of a specialist.

Biomass-derived porous carbon is an excellent scientific and technologically interesting material for supercapacitor applications. In this study, we developed biomass-derived nitrogen-doped porous carbon nanosheets (BDPCNS) from cedar cone biomass using a simple KOH activation and pyrolysis method. The BDPCNS was effectively modified at different temperatures of 600 °C, 700 °C, and 800 ℃ under similar conditions. The as-prepared BDPCNS-700 electrode exhibited a high BET surface area of 2883 m2 g−1 and a total pore volume of 1.26 cm3 g−1. Additionally, BDPCNS-700 had the highest electrical conductivity (11.03 cm−1) and highest N-doped content among the different electrode materials. The BDPCNS-700 electrode attained a specific capacitance of 290 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1 in a 3 M KOH electrolyte and an excellent long-term electrochemical cycling stability of 93.4% over 1000 cycles. Moreover, the BDPCNS-700 electrode had an excellent energy density (40.27 Wh kg−1) vs power density (208.19 W kg−1). These findings indicate that BDPCNS with large surface areas are promising electrode materials for supercapacitors and energy storage systems.

We produced an activated carbon using sodium-lignosulfonate, in which we investigated how the sodium salt in lignin served as the activating agent during heat treatment. Our process resulted in a product with a high specific surface area of 1324 m2/ g at 800 °C and microporous structure. During the activation process, we observed the consumption of carbon due to the dehydration reaction of NaOH and the reduction of Na2CO3 to metallic Na, which created pores through oxidation/ reduction reactions. The intercalation of metallic Na between the lattices at high temperatures formed additional pores and increased the specific surface area. Our proposed mechanism holds promise for enhancing the control of the microstructure and porosity of activated carbons through the thermal treatment of biomass.

This study investigated the removal efficiency of residual pentane from paclitaxel according to the drying temperature in the case of rotary evaporation, and performed a kinetic and thermodynamic analysis of the drying process. At all the temperatures (25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 ℃), a large amount of the residual solvent was initially removed during the drying, and the drying efficiency increased when increasing the drying temperature. Five drying models (Newton, Page, modified Page, Henderson and Pabis, Geometric) were then used for the kinetic analysis, where the Henderson and Pabis model showed the highest coefficient of determination (r<sup>2</sup>) and lowest root mean square deviation (RMSD), indicating that these models were the most suitable. Furthermore, in the thermodynamic analysis of the rotary evapora-tion, the activation energy (E<sub>a</sub>) was 4.9815 kJ/mol and the standard Gibbs free energy change (ΔG<sup>0</sup>) was negative, whereas the standard enthalpy change (ΔH<sup>0</sup>) and standard entropy change (ΔS<sup>0</sup>) were both positive, indicating that the drying process was spontaneous, endothermic, and irreversible.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We aimed to characterize the lineages of influenza B viruses obtained from clinical specimens during the 2007–2014 seasons in South Korea. RT-PCR for the partial hemagglutinin gene of influenza B virus was performed on laboratory-confirmed influenza B samples from the 2007–2008 season to 2013–2014 season. A phylogenetic tree was generated, and current influenza vaccine strains for the Northern Hemisphere were used as representative strains of Victoria and Yamagata lineages.</P> <P>A total of 571 influenza B virus sequences were analyzed. During the 2009–2010 season, most of the circulating influenza B viruses matched the vaccine strain; 91.0% (91/100) of viruses belonged to the Victoria lineage. In the 2007–2008, 2011–2012, and 2013–2014 seasons, co-circulation of each influenza B lineage was found with a match ratio to the vaccine strain of 53.2% (42/79), 40.9% (63/154), and 58.3% (134/230), respectively. Overall, 41.7% (238/571) of the circulating influenza B viruses belonged to the lineage mismatching the vaccine strain.</P> <P>During the seven influenza seasons, influenza B epidemics were substantial in four seasons in South Korea. Significant mismatches of the vaccine and lineage of the circulating influenza B viruses were found. The current trivalent influenza vaccine may not be fully suitable for effective protection against influenza B.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> During the 2007–2014 seasons, influenza B epidemics were substantial in 4 seasons. </LI> <LI> The lineages of influenza B viruses in South Korea were investigated. </LI> <LI> Rate of lineage mismatch of vaccine and circulating influenza B viruses was 41.7%. </LI> <LI> QIV may improve the vaccine effectiveness, especially in the high-risk groups. </LI> </UL> </P>
조도와 동공 영역의 측정 변화에 따른 굴절력과 수차의 비교

Purpose. We compared with the refracting power and aberration according to the measurement change in illumination and the pupils area by using the auto refraction instruments. Methods. In this study it were examined 64 eyes without eye disease, 21.4 (${\pm}2.54$) age, 32 (male 10, female 22) patients. Experiments in general illumination using the auto refraction instruments (HRK-8000A, Huvitz, Korea) was measured in both eyes 3 times and after scotopic for 30 minutes in a dark room blocked the light was measured in the same way. Aberration were measured coma, spherical aberration, high and low order aberrations in a general illumination (3500 lux) and low illumination (5 lux) of the pupil area 3.96 mm and 5.96 mm. Results. In the general illumination for measuring of the pupil area, the refractive power, coma, spherical aberration and low order aberration was no significant difference. In the low illumination, spherical aberration of the pupil area was $0.005({\pm}0.015){\mu}m$ in a 3.96mm, $0.014({\pm}0.020){\mu}m$ in a 5.96 mm and appeared a significant difference(p = 0.003). In general and low illumination on the results of comparing the measured values of the refractive power and aberration at the pupil area 3.96 mm, high order aberrations was $0.205({\pm}0.145){\mu}m$ in general illumination, $0.132({\pm}0.075){\mu}m$ in low illumination and appeared a significant differences(p = 0.001). High order aberrations at the pupil area 5.96 mm was $0.278({\pm}0.244){\mu}m$ in general illumination, $0.150({\pm}0.092){\mu}m$ in low illumination and appeared a significant differences(p = 0.000). Conclusions. When the eye refractive power measured by the automatic refraction does not depend on the illumination conditions and size of the observation pupil area, it was found that aberrations are affected by the illumination and the observation pupil area. It was found that the eye examination chamber illumination to obtain accurate measurement produces better results to decrease than to increase.
