Laser-induced vortex generation was studied in a millimeter scale nozzle. Acetone, carried by nitrogen, was ejected through a axisymmetirc nozzle of 1 ㎜ inner diameter and 193㎚ ArF excimer laser beam was irradiated for the photolysis of the seeded acetone. The pressure perturbation from the laser photolysis is trigger the development of a small scale vortex. The pressure perturbation can make very repeatable vortex because the pressure disturbance is highly localized and has short-duration. The temporal evolution of the vortex was imaged by using acetone laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The experiment was conducted in an atmospheric pressure and room temperature.
