        The purpose of this study was to provide durability data of concrete using recycled fined aggregate which was produced through a dry production with cyclone for making it sure whether it can be put to practical use for concrete. In the experiment. recycled fine aggregate was substitute for natural fine aggregate the rate of 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% each. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The depth of neutralization was become deeper according to the increase of substitutive ratio of recycled fine aggregate. 2. The performance of length alternation was fallen gradually according to the increase of substitutive ratio of recycled fine aggregate. But, it showed the similar durability with concrete using natural fine aggregate fewer than 25% substitution ratio. Based on the above results, it is concluded that the recycled fine aggregate through the wet production process can be used as fine aggregate on condition that the substitution ration is under 25%.

      • 새로운 Cyclic Oxalate의 합성

        As a new protective group for diols, cyclic oxalates (20) (24) were synthesized by using oxalyl chloride, ethyl oxalyl chloride, diethyl oxalate and oxalic acid. In the reaction of diol with oxalyl chloride, the product was a mixture of the cyclic oxalate (20) and mono oxalated(21). When ethyl oxalyl chloride was used which pyridine as base, acyclic oxalates (22) (25) were obtained. Whereas ethyl oxalyl chloride which triethylamine instead of pyridine, cyclic oxalates (20) (24) as well as acyclic oxalates (22) (25) were obtained. Using diethyl oxalate, the amounts of cyclic oxalates (20) (24) were increased, but there were some difficulties in separations of its desired products. Oxalic acid, however, did not afford cyclic oxalates but gave formate which probably was formed by decarboxylation of hydroxyoxalyl group.

        Medicinal Precipitated Clacium Carbonate is prepared by the interaction of Calcium Chloride and Ammonium Carbonate Solutions in this study. It has been known that the particle size of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate is greatly affected by the concentration, temperature, and moli-ratio of reactant solutions as well as the temperature at which the precipitate is dried and the temperature of washing water. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum preparation Condition of medicinal Precipitated Calcium Carbonate. A randomized complete block design wuggested by G.E.P. Box and K.B.Wilson was for this purpose. The optimum preparation condition of light and fine precipitated Calcium Carbonate obtained from this study is as follows : 1) The reacting temperature range is 25∼45℃ 2) The concentration range of reactant solutions is 10∼30% 3) The optimum mole-ratio (CaCl/(NH) CO) is 1.0∼2.0. 4) The drying temperature range is 60∼80℃. 5) Temperature range of washing water is 25∼60℃.

Bused on the above results, it is concluded that the recycled fine aggregate through the wet production process can be used IS fine aggregate on condition that the substitution ration is under 50%.

        The absorption ability of low density heavy metal of pine needles and cones is better than one of existing absorption materials in treatment ability and experimental condition. The elimination ability of chlorine of pine needles and cones is better than one of active carbon. In elimination of trihalomethane, the effect of treatment of pine needles is lower than one of pine cones. And surface of pine needles and cones after absorption of heavy metal ion was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM). Application and availability of pine needles and cones as absorption material need lots of experiments. The experiment on Gal-Bi(fallen leaves) is proceeding.

      • The Antioxidant Effect of Lonicera Caerulea on Oocytes Developmental Competence in Mice

        Mammalian oocytes are sensitive to psychological stress at each period of follicular development. Especially, thermal stress interfere with reproductive condition by inducing formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress (OS). ROS lead to oocyte apoptosis, weakening oocyte quality and lowering the fertilization rate. As a result, the pregnancy rate is lowered, leading to infertility. Thermal stress also seems to influence zygotes through physiological changes in the maternal environment surrounding them. Loss of developmental competence suggests hyperthermia-induced oxidative stress in embryos. Interest in organic Lonicera caerulea berries has increased in recent years. They are abundant in various health-improving materials. Berries that found from natural products can be as free as possible from the bioactive toxicity of the active ingredient without side effects, and it can be a big advantage because it can work. Mammalian oocytes are arrested at the first meiotic prophase stage and get their meiotic competence to produce offspring during the development of follicle. A series of nuclear and cytoplasmic maturations are involved in this process and these vary in temperature sensitivity. Our study demonstrated that L. caerulea can relieve the negative effects of maternal hyperthermia by reducing ROS level at the developmental stage.

      • The Effect of Thermal Stress on Oocyte Maturation through Steroid Hormone Content Involving Lipids Metabolism

        Sex hormones including progesterons, androgens, and estrogens are influential in differentiation of ovarian tissues and competence of fertility. These steroid hormones derived from cholesterol are required for cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) during oocyte maturation. COCs is a total functional and active entity playing a central role in oocyte. Lipid metabolism in the mammalian COCs is controlled by environmental factors. The intracellular cholesterol contents go through remarkable changes. It plays an important part of oocyte developmental competence. However, heat stress affects steroid hormone by decreasing progesterone, estrogen concentrations, and resumption of meiosis in COCs maturation. Reduction of the hormone and meiotic resumption might lead to the decline of ovarian function, follicle maturation, and subsequent embryogenesis. In the same vein, heat stress also influence on germinal vesicle breakdown, lipolytic variations, and loss of the nuclear envelope in the course of maturation of oocytes. In summary, we examined the effects of thermal stress on oocyte maturation through steroid hormone contents of change identifying the molecular mechanisms of lipids metabolism. It may have the solution to further the therapy methods for disorders regarding sterility.

        Honeybee Visiting and Floral Nectar Characteristics of Styrax japonicus Sieb. & Zucc

        This study was conducted to prove possibility of honey tree, which analyzed the visited number of honeybees, secreted nectar volume, nectar sugar content and amino acid in addition to estimating honey quantities that can ultimately reap in flowers of Styrax japonicus Sieb. & Zucc.. The surveyed tree’s flowers bloom during 12 days and maximum blooming period of flowers was on 23<SUP>rd</SUP> to 25<SUP>th</SUP> May in 2013. Honeybee visited flowers in priority and visited number of honeybee per flowering lateral bunch can be assumed 290 honeybees for a day. Honeybee visiting was concentrated at around 10~11 a.m.. On average, nectar volume secreted by nectary was 1.13 ul from one flower and nectar concentration (w/w %) presented 39.6%. Sugar content were calculated at 71.0 ug per flower which was estimated by multiplying secreted nectar volume (ul/flower) by nectar sugar (ug/ul). The minimum estimate of honey harvest for official tree (15 years, Height = 3m, Diameter at breast height = 12cm) in this study was 3,032 mg. Result of amino acid content ratio showed that Proline, Glutamate, Hydroproline, Serine, Asparagine were more abundant than others. Especially, Proline percentages (40.4%) were highest among the other amino acids. Finally, the surveyed tree is considered as possible honey plant because of its nectar characteristics and honeybee visiting. Honey is made of nectar sugar as well as by digestive system of honeybee, therefore a more associated study is necessary to analyze free sugar component in nectar and accurately presume to harvest honey quantity.

        Clinical Characteristics and Prognostic Factors of Children with Guillain-Barré Syndrome

        Purpose: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a group of clinical syndromes involving acute polyneuropathy secondary to an immune-mediated process. Although affected children generally tend to have a good prognosis, a small subset of children experience residual symptoms that require lengthy and costly rehabilitation. Therefore, we aimed to describe the clinical findings of children with GBS and to investigate factors associated with their outcomes. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted of previously healthy children ≤18 years of age diagnosed with GBS and admitted to Pusan National Children’s Hospital between 2009 and 2018. Results: Of the 38 patients included in the study (23 boys [60.5%]; median age, 4.3 years [interquartile range, 2.8 to 9.7 years]), 28 (73.7%) fully recovered without any residual symptoms, while 10 (26.3%) had residual symptoms more than 6 months after the onset of GBS. The presence of autonomic dysfunction and a ≥50% decrease in compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude from the lower limit of normal were associated with functional deficits at 6 months. Age, sex, type of antecedent illness, cranial nerve involvement, the need for mechanical ventilation, and the subtype of GBS were not significantly associated with functional outcomes. Post-gadolinium enhancement of nerve roots was seen in 71.1% of patients on initial spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Conclusion: Contrast enhancement of nerve roots on MRI was the most helpful initial finding for diagnosing GBS. The presence of autonomic dysfunction and a ≥50% decrease in CMAP from the lower limit of normal were poor prognostic factors for functional outcomes.
