Economic benefit of tourism is loud and clear. Organised cultural events of India have been attracting domestic and international visitors alike to many destinations. Apart from showcasing the cultural diversity of India, such organised cultural events instil pride among the Indian youth for the cultural traditions and preserve the cultural heritage for the future generation. It gives economic empowerment to the poor and the marginalised. One such event is the Adivasi Mela or the Tribal festival of Odisha. The festival was represented by all 62 tribes of Odisha, making it largest congregation of tribal communities in festivals anywhere in Asia and perhaps world. Given wide publicity it has the potential to become a world class event. (116 Words)

Purpose Colonic drug targeting is an elusive goal, implicated for localized drug and systemic delivery of proteins which otherwise cannot be delivered by oral route. The purpose of the present work was to evaluate the suitability of formulation design of compression coating and potential of low molecular weight natural polysaccharides for colonic drug targeting using Gamma Scintigraphy in human subjects and to establish platform technology. Methods Before commencing with in vivo imaging studies in human by Gamma Scintigraphy, we performed in vitro release studies and scanning electron microscopy for surface topography of tablet formulations subjected to in vitro dissolution study. Results We investigated the applicability of low molecular weight and low viscosity grade Guar gum ULV 1000 and Pectin with low degree of methoxylation 9% as for site specific delivery. Gamma Scintigraphy imaging of formulation with biopolymer in human subject showed the transit of tablet intact in colon with average arrival time being 5.75 h and the activity was released continuously for 30 h. Scanning electron microscopy for surface topography of tablets subjected to simulated colonic fluid showed erosion caused by microbial flora of the colon. Conclusion Taken together, compression coating design with low molecular weight biopolymer can serve as a platform technology to deliver other potential molecules to the colonic region for local and/or systemic effects in other therapeutic areas.

Objectives: The current investigation was carried out to determine the cytotoxic and the antimicrobial activities of methanolic extracts of Plumbago zeylanica. Methods: The stems, leaves, and whole plants were air dried and extracted with methanol by using a Soxhlet extractor for 72 hours at $55-60^{\circ}C$. The antimicrobial activities were determined from the zones of inhibition, which were measured by using the agar well diffusion method, and the cytotoxicity assays were performed using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay method. Results: The methanolic extracts of the stem and the leaves of Plumbago zeylanica were tested against six bacterial species and nine fungal species, and both extracts showed antimicrobial activity in a dose-dependent manner. The leaf extract of Plumbago zeylanica showed maximum antimicrobial activity against both Staphylococcus aureus sub sp aureus and Fusarium oxysporum. The stem extract was found to be more antimicrobial against the Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the Penicillium expansum species. MTT assays were used to test the cytotoxicity of the whole plant extract in the HCT-116 and the K-562 cell lines, and that extract was shown to have weak cytotoxicity in both cell lines. Conclusion: In the present study, the methanolic stem extracts of Plumbago zeylanica were found to possess remarkable antibacterial activities against many human and agricultural pathogens. The extracts were also found to possess significant antifungal activities, but the antifungal activities were less than the antibacterial activities. Finally, the extracts were found to have weak cytotoxicities in the HCT-116 and the K-562 cell lines.
