Background and Objectives : Many students major in applied music singing have various difficulties in phonation when they sing or perform. But the studies about this cause are lack. The purpose of this study is whether singing voice therapy based on vocal music is effective or not to applied music singing students that have difficulties in phonation. Materials and Methods : Singing voice therapy program had been done to 8 students major in applied music singing during 7 weeks. We did laryngeal stroboscope, perceptual, acoustic and aerodynamic examination before and after singing voice therapy to this students. And we studied post examination results have differences or improvements compared to pre examination results. Results : Four male students don't have effective improvement after singing voice therapy but they shows slight improvement in aerodynamic examination values compared to pre examination values. Four female students shows improvement in aerodynamic examination values and pitch range increasing. Above all, one student's vocal nodules disappeared after singing voice therapy. Conclusion : Singing voice therapy based on music singing is very effective to the students major in applied music singing. Above all, their curriculum in applied music singing should include phonation training based on music singing before training perform and technic practices.

Objective : The purpose of this report is to examine the effects of direct moxibustion in the Low back pain patient. Methods : Clinical studies were done 30 patients who were treated with low back pain to Dept. of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, of Oriental Medical Sang-Ji University from September 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004. We treated them by Oriental medical therapy(including direct moxibustion)for 10 days. The evaluation was performed five times(admission day, before and after each twice). Results : 1. VAS was decreased after direct moxibustion for 10 days significantly(p<0.01). 2. After direct moxibustion, S.L.R. T angle of patients were increased. ConclUsions : We brought to the conclusion that direct moxibustion has possibility to the efficient to cure the Low back pain. So we suggest the possibility to use this treatment for Low back pain.

<P>The use of five flexible α,ω-alkane (or alkene)-dicarboxylates (succinate (<B>2</B>), fumarate (<B>3</B>), adipate (<B>5</B>), and muconate (<B>6</B>)) produced three-dimensional (3-D) Zn<SUP>II</SUP> frameworks with 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane pillars, whereas glutarate gave a two-dimensional (2-D) Zn<SUP>II</SUP> compound (<B>4</B>). Structures <B>2</B> and <B>5</B> are 4-fold interpenetrated networks, and <B>3</B> and <B>6</B> are 5-fold interpenetrated networks. Both <B>5</B> and <B>6</B> displayed good CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorption capabilities at 196 K, as evidenced by S-shape adsorption isotherms. Both compounds also exhibited selective CO<SUB>2</SUB> sorption over N<SUB>2</SUB> at low temperature, while <B>5</B> containing an adipate ligand showed higher CO<SUB>2</SUB> uptake at 273 and 298 K than <B>6</B> with a more rigid muconate ligand. The isosteric heats of CO<SUB>2</SUB> adsorption for <B>5</B> and <B>6</B> were 23.1 kJ mol<SUP>–1</SUP> and 30.7 kJ mol<SUP>–1</SUP>, respectively. A photoluminescence study showed the emissions of <B>2</B>,<B> 4</B>, and <B>5</B> to be blue-shifted relative to both the free acids and ligand, while <B>3</B> had ligand-based luminescence properties. Objective : Anterior odontoid screw fixation is a safe and effective method for the treatment of odontoid fractures. The surgical technique is recommended for perforation of the apical cortex of the dens by the lag screw. However, overpenetration of the apical cortex may lead to potentially serious complications such as damages of adjacent vascular and neural structures. The purpose of this study was to assess the role of three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) scan to evaluate the safe margin beyond dens tip to ventral dura for anterior odontoid screw fixation. Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the three-dimensional CT scans of the cervical spines in 55 consecutive patients at our trauma center. The patients included 38 males and 17 females aged between 22 and 73 years (mean age${\pm}$standard deviation, $45.8{\pm}14.2years$). Using sagittal images of 3-dimensional CT scan, the safe margins beyond dens tip to ventral dura as well as the appropriate screw length were measured. Results : The mean width of the apical dens tip was $9.6{\pm}1.1mm$. The mean lengths from the screw entry point to the apical dens tip and posterior end of dens tip were $39.2{\pm}2.6mm$ and $36.6{\pm}2.4mm$. The safe margin beyond apical dens tip to ventral dura was $7.7{\pm}1.7mm$. However, the safe margin beyond the posterior end of dens tip to ventral dura was decreased to $2.1{\pm}3.2mm$, which was statistically significant (p<0.01). There were no significant differences of safe margins beyond dens tip to ventral dura with patient gender and age. Conclusion : Extension by several millimeters beyond the dens tip is safe, if the trajectory of anterior odontoid screw is targeted at the apical dens tip. However, if the trajectory of the screw is targeted to the posterior end of dens tip, extension beyond dens tip may lead to damage immediately adjacent to the vental dura mater.
Severe anorexia and weight loss induced by tacrolimus in kidney transplant recipients

Common neuropsychiatric complications of tacrolimus include tremors, fatigue, headache, sleep disorders, paranoid reactions, and anxiety. Other, more serious complications include encephalopathy, convulsions, confusion, and coma. To our knowledge, however, severe weight loss by anorexia has not been reported as a neuropsychiatric adverse effect of tacrolimus given to adult kidney transplant recipients. In this article we present two cases of severe anorexia and weight loss associated with tacrolimus that appeared to reverse with cyclosporine.

Background: Autologous portal vein Y-graft (PYG) interposition has been the standard procedure for reconstruction of double portal vein (PV) orifices of right liver grafts during living donor liver transplantations. However, it has the disadvantage of being vulnerable to anastomotic stenosis. A refined technique of conjoined unification venoplasty (CUV) was developed to secure PV reconstruction. Methods: We reviewed the surgical outcomes in PV reconstructions using CUVs in 21 cases which were followed up for >3 years. Results: The mean age of recipients was 51.7±4.9 years. The model for end-stage liver disease score was 15.3±6.4. The graft-recipient weight ratio was 1.12±0.21. Recipient PYGs were harvested in all cases. All living donors were blood relatives or relatives through marriage with type III PV anomalies. The number of right liver graft PV orifices was two in 19 cases and three in two cases. For the central intervening vein patch, a PV segment was used in six cases, and an autologous greater saphenous vein patch was used in the remaining 15 cases. The 21 patient cohort displayed a 100% 4-year patient survival rate. None of them underwent any PV interventions including interventional stenting. Serial follow-up computed tomography scans revealed that the reconstructed PV showed early reshaping with a stable streamlined configuration for over 3 years. Conclusions: PV reconstruction using the CUV technique appears to be significantly more effective in preventing PV complications. We believe that CUV is a useful technique to reconstruct right liver grafts with multiple PV orifices.
The Photochemical Reactivities of Benzenes Tethered to haloarene

The syntheses and photoreactions of haloarenes, in which the aryl and haloaryl moieties are tethered by a simple alkyl group, were studied. For 2-benzyl-1-halobenzene, in which two aryl moieties were connected by methylene group, photoreduced product, diphenylmethane, was obtained along with the minor formation of the photocyclized product, fluorene, in acetonitrile solvent. For 1-halo-2-phenethylbenzene, in which two aryl moieties were connected by ethylene group, photocyclized products, 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene and phenanthrene, were obtained along with the minor formation of photoreduced product, bibenzyl, in acetonitrile solvent. The photoreaction selectivities in several solvent systems were studied: In cyclohexane, 2-benzyl-1-chlorobenzene was photoreduced more effective than 2-benzyl-1-bromobenzene; in the presence of NaOH, 1-halo-2-phenethylbenzenes gave 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene and, in the presence of toluene, they gave phenanthrene. A radical reaction mechanism is proposed for the explanation of the reactions. This study shows that the photoreaction of haloarene, in which haloaryl and aryl moieties are tethered by ethylene group, can be used for ring formation of 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene otherwise difficultly accessible.
A Study of Elastic Properties of Cr-doped KTiOPO₄Single Crystals by Brillouin Scattering

Pure and Cr-doped single crystals KTP which are grown by the TSSG method are large and good quality ones. Brillouin scattering experiment is carried out to study the elastic properties of the grown crystal. We obtain all of none elastic constants of the KPT crystal from one cubic sample, through which piezoelectric effect is considered. As a result the obtained elastic constants are some what different from the others' results. In this work we use the back scattering method for determining elastic constants of our samples.
