The Anti-cancer Effect of Oriental Medicine Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang in the Mouse with Metastatic Lung Cancer. Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 231-243, 1999.-The oriental medicine Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang is an herbal medicine which has been used for pulmonary diseases and known as having immune stimulatory effects. It has been known effective in lung cancer. So we studied the effects and the mechanisms of this herbal medicine it the mouse with metastatic lung cancer. The metastatic lung cancer of the mouse was produced with melnoma cell line(B16BL/6).5×10□/mouse tumor cells were injected intravenously to the CDF1 mouse via tail vein. The mice were divided 4 groups. The first group was treated with 50mg/kg extract of Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang per oral for 10 days after cancer cell injection, second group treated with saline after cancer cell injection, the third group with medicine without cancer cell, and the last group with saline only. After 10 days treatments some of the mice were scarificed and the lung and spleen was removed. The survival duration, weight change, the number of metastatic cancer nodule of the lung, the NK cell activity, the capacity of cytokines(INF-γ,INF-α,IL-2) production and the proliferation activities of mouse lymphocytes were measured. The surival times of the group 1 mice were longer and the weight loss was less than the group 2 significantly. The number of the metastatic nodule of the lung were decresed in the group 1 than the group 2. The production of INF-γ,was increase in group 2 than group 3 and 4, IL-2 production was increased in group 1 than group 2,3,4 significantly. There was no difference in TNF- α production and proliferation activity of lymphocyte in each group. The NK cell activity was significantly increased in group 1 than group 2,3,4. We conclude that the Chung-Ri-Ja-Gam-Tang has the effect of increasing the NK cell activity of the CDF1 mouse with metastatic lung cancer(B16BL/6). And it is suggested that the increased production of the IL-2 is the mechanisms of enhanced NK cell activity.

Theoretical Background of Interaction and Online Discussion in the Web-Based Learning Environment

The purpose of this study was to review literature, theories, and models on interaction, online discussion, and e-learning in the web-based learning environment. Literature reviews suggested ten factors: the attitude toward computer-mediated communication, the attitude toward writing, intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, previous knowledge on the subject, the relevance of the discussion topic, the interaction with instructors, physical environment, psychological environment, support. These factors can be categorized into 3 groups such as learner-related factors, design-related factors, and environment-related factors. Based on this study, the following recommendations were offered: alleviate anxieties on writing, assign students to the discussion group according to the previous knowledge on the topic, implement motivational strategies, assign grades for adequate portion, offer discussion topic which learners consider relevant to them, interact with learners actively, facilitate learners to interact with peer learners. Implications this inquiry into interaction and online discussion for online learning and instruction were also discussed.

Note-Taking as a Self-Regulated Learning Strategy and Cognitive Style : Impact on Immediate and Delayed Learner's Academic Performance

This research was to investigate the impact of cognitive style and self- regulated learning strategy such as note-taking methods on learners' students' academicper formance. Statistical analysis result showed that both cognitive style and note-taking methods did not have a significant effect on an immediate test.However, there is a significant main effect of cognitive style on a delayed test. Field-dependent students significantly outperformed field-independent students on the delayed test. Also, the main effect of note-taking methods on the delayed test was significant. Students who took notes in a matrix scored higher on the delayed test than did students who took notes in a free format.

It has become a matter of common sence to give the environmental and hereditary e1ements in explainiIng the process of human Characters, and the former includes the physical, chemical, biological, psychological and sociological facts influenced by the exterior causes, but the latter means the human characters transmitted from generation to generation through heredity units. What cannot be controlled by the ordinary methods is the heredity, and the environt is possibly controlled. As I have already described about the environmental causes in the first report, I will here conclude this thesis by describing briefly on the hereditary causes for the formation of human characters.

體育施設의 現況分析에 관한 硏究 : 初等敎育 現場을 中心으로 Poiting especially with Reference to Primary Schools

This study analysised our the present conditions of primary schools the physical education equipments. Intending to effectly devise activation of physical taking lessons with good dates. Investigating the physical equipments and teaching tools of primary schools, 250's primary schools of nation-wide 13 districts and cites, with questionnaire and directly visted. When. I invowtigated and considered thepresent conditions of physical educaation equipments and aids, the following fact came to reveal that about 50% out of every primary school were lack in the equipments and aids, and still less the rest were equipped partially. So the difficulties of the physical education at present seem to result from the following causes. 1. All the problems caused by the physical education classes themselves. 2. All the problems caused by the lackness of the physical education grounds. 3. All the problems caused by the lackness of the items of ehysical education aids. 4. All the problems resulted from the differencps of physical education equipments and measuring standards. 5. All the problems resulted from the managing view point of the equipments. I will propose to solve as mentioned above problems.

The formation of human characters is one of the essential elements not only in child education at school and home, but in guiding adolescents and adults in their social life, and it has become an object of studies in their social life, and it has become an object of studios in the various fields, such as not only psychology but philosophy, ethics, law, sociology, and anthropology. In this limited space, I will doscribe briefly the concept of character, the trends of the studies and the social causes for formation of character, and this study will be finished with the hereditary causes, the individual causes and a compondious conclusion next time.

The following sums up this research on the suppression of Korean Physical Education under the rule of Japanese imperialism. 1. According to the educational policy of the Japanese colonical rule, physical education was employed as a tool for Japanizing Koreans under the false opinion that Koreans are a branch family of the Japanese. Therefore, the aim of sports education was to train loyal people of the clony. 2. The suppression took place in the form of changing the contents of curriculum and rigidifying the quality of physical education teachers. Thus, while the former gymnastics was changed into playing games and apparatus gymnastics devoid of national consciousness, many Japanese soldiers took the job of teachers. 3. The oppression also appealed in social sports in two ways. From May 1912 on, the collective athletic meeting came to an end in the name of financial difficulty and educational fallacy. In addition, many YMCA leaders were put into prison on the occasion of the 105-Man Incident in 1912, and the Korean YMCA was subjected to the Japanese YMCA the following year.

급성흉통으로 내원한 환자에서 심근경색증을 조기 발견하기 위한 TROP-T?Rapid Assay의 유용성

Study Objectives : In the past, measurement of cardiac enzymes(i.e. CK and/or CK-MB, GOT, LDH)and myoglobin, cardiac specific serum troponin-T were widely used for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction, but it need a long time and have low specificity. Thus new diagnostic modality, TROP-T?? Rapid Assay, is very easy and rapid qualitative methods, is needed for the early detection of acute myocardial infarction. Methods : Total CK, GOT, LDH, myoglobin and serum troponin-T activities were measured in patients presenting with acute chest pain at the emergency department and at the same time TROP-T? Rapid Assay was done. Final diagnosis and diagnostic usefulness was evaluated. Results : Overall diagnotic sensitivity and specificity of initial results were as follows; TROP-T? Rapid Assay, 77.3, 100.0; myoglobin, 63.6, 70.4; CK, 95.5, 96.3; GOT, 86.4, 96.3; LDH, 90.9, 92.6; serum troponin-T, 86.4, 96.3, respectively. Conclusion : The TROP-T?? Rapid Assay is simple method and has a short time and nearly same sensitivity and specificity compared to other cardiac enzymes. Thus this is considered useful method in the early detection of acute myocardial infarction at emergency department.

During the 36-year-long Japanese rule of Korea, many reformations have been made in physical Education politics, economy, culture and other social realms. But these reforms have only served the imperalist Japan's interests, resulting in misleading Korea modernization and sacrificing the Korean people's identity. In this respect, the recent boom of research on modern Korean history is rather forcused on re-orienting the distorted historical viewpoints and re-establishing on people's subjectivity. Unlike other scientific areas, however, the research of modern Korean history of physical education is troubled a lot with as well as insufficient concrete data and materials concerning that age. Therefore, this researcher intends to view social physical education in Korea during the severest Japanese military rule from 1910 to 1919 from the nationalistic viewpoint some major items deal with in this study are 1) The nationalistic character of Athletic meet 2) The nationalistic character of YMCA'S Activity of physical education 3) The nationalistic character of Athletics

學校體育政策方向에 관한 體育思想史的 照明

The purpose of this study is to look into historical meaning of Physical Education Thoaghts on policy direction through the idea and reality school physical Education. The major point of consideration are as follow ; Physical Education are to be good for the promotion of personal health, physical fitness, leisure-time and joy through physical movement. On the other hand, Physical Education is a quality derived from the anger, aggression and fighting in our nature through physical movement. A quality of mind is courage. This courage is a quality that enables a person to control fear in the face of danger, pain, misfortune. If this courage is not trained through Physical Education, the personality becomes week, frail, feeble, and soft. Also, the ill-trained becomes cowadly. These results in the disharmonious human. The following consideration, therefore, was made on the basis of the aspect of these Physical Education. The policy-models of school Physical Education is designed to serves two models. The first model is to describe the English Public Schools as a frame of reference for policy direction. The second model is Hwarang's education. Therefore, Physical Education were performed with the required condition of body-mind unity. The importance of Physical Education were approved by its achievement of mental education as well.
