While screening for cellulase-producing fungi from insect gut, a fungus with high endoglucanase (carboxymethylcellulase; CMCase) activitywas isolated fromthe larval gut of Bombyx mori. Based onmorphological characteristicsand using an 18S rRNA-based molecular phylogenetic approach, the fungus, strain BMC-2, was identified as aMucor sp. expressing a novel alkalotolerant cellulase. The maximum production of cellulase by the BMC-2 strainwas observed at 55°C and pH8.0. The CMCase activity was inhibited by Cu2+ N Na+ N Zn2+ N Mg2+ N Ba2+, andinduced by Ca2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, and K+.
헬리컬 기어의 3차원 진동 해석을 위한 동역학 모델 개발

In this study, a dynamic model of a parallel-axis helical gear system is developed. A linear time-invariant dynamic model of a gear system is proposed. This model is constructed by using a three-dimensional model of a helical gear pair as the beam element in combination with a finite element shaft structure. Bearing flexibility is included in the model as a linear spring, and the torsional, transverse (line of action), rotational, and axial vibratory motions of the gear pair are also considered. For the gear pair model, the static transmission error is regarded as the excitation of the gear mesh, under the assumption that the gear mesh stiffness is a constant value. To validate the proposed model in predicting gear vibratory motions, the experimental results of the helical gear system are presented and compared with the predicted results. The predicted results are found to agree well with the experimental results in terms of natural frequencies and forced vibrations.
농업용 소형 전기동력운반차의 배터리 모니터링 기술 개발

농업용 소형 전기 동력운반차는 소규모로 운영되는 대다수의 국내 농가의 현실을 고려하면 작업의 효율성을 높일 수 있고, 농업 인구의 고령화로 인해 작업의 편리성이 증대되어 수요가 꾸준히 성장하고 있는 시장이다. 경작지 내에서 운행 중 배터리 방전 또는 고장으로 운행이 정지되는 경우, 오히려 경작 활동에 방해요인이 될 뿐만 아니라 오히려 농작업의 위험 요소로 작용할 수 있다. 이러한 단점을 극복하고자 본 연구를 통해 배터리 방전 가능성을 낮추고 전기계통(배터리)의 정비 시점을 예측하여 경작 활동 중 우발적인 운행 정지를 방지하고 농작업의 안전성을 높이고자 한다.

본 연구에서는 스퍼 기어 쌍의 동적 거동을 조사하기 위해 가속도계 기반 측정 방법을 제안한다. 이 방법을 사용하여 스퍼 기어 쌍의 동적 전달 오차를 실제 운전 속도와 토크 범위에서 측정하여 뚜렷한 비선형 현상을 계측할 수 있었다. 이 측정에는 특정 반경의 기어 옆에 있는 각 샤프트의 플랜지에 접선 방향으로 장착된 단축 가속도계 세트가 사용되었다. 단축 가속도계에서 얻은 접선 가속도 신호는 제안된 공식을 사용하여 동적 전송 오차를 계산하기 위해 디지털신호 처리가 적용되었다. 결과적으로 측정된 데이터는 본 연구에서 제안한 가속도계 기반 측정 방법을 사용하면 동적 전송오차를 매우 효과적으로 측정할 수 있음을 보여주었다. 측정된 데이터를 통해 비틀림 방향에서 스퍼 기어 쌍에 상당한 크기의 진동이 관찰되었다. 또한 공진 부근에서 동적 전달 오차의 강제 응답에 대한 불연속 현상의 형태로 운동의 강한 비선형 거동이 포착되었습니다.
Feasibility of Gastric Cancer Surgery at Low Volume Hospitals

Purpose: Most gastric cancer patients undergo operations at large tertiary hospitals in Korea. However, some patients are treated at low volume hospitals. We investigated patient outcomes after gastric surgery at a secondary hospital and compared with outcomes of large volume centers. Materials and Methods: We included 184 patients who underwent gastric surgery for gastric cancer at our hospital from January 2003 to December 2008. We conducted a retrospective study and evaluated the clinicopathological characteristics, clinical outcomes and survival rate of patients. Results: Mean age was 61.7 years old. Male to female ratio was 2.2 : 1. Proportion of early gastric cancer was 38.6% and that of advanced gastric cancer was 61.4%. The 5 year overall survival rate of 184 patients was 66.3%. The overall survival rate was significantly lower for people over 62 years old. The morbidity rate and mortality at our hospital were 10.3% and 0.5%, respectively. Conclusions: The overall survival rate, morbidity and mortality were similar to those of the previous reports from Korea. Treatment of gastric cancer at a secondary hospital is feasible and safe. Standardization of operations and management of gastric cancer patients of the Korean Gastric Cancer Association is the most important factor to achieve these outcomes.
프랙탈과 웨이브릿 변환을 이용한 효율적이고 강인한 워터마킹 기법

본 논문에서는 웨이브릿 변환과 프랙탈 변환을 함께 적용하여 강인하고 효율적인 워터마킹 방법을 제안하였다. 종래의 방법과 같이 프랙탈 변환만을 이용할 경우 강인함에 비하여 속도가 느리다는 단점이 있다. 크기가 큰 원래 이미지를 프랙탈 변환하지 않고 상대적으로 크기가 적은 워터마크 이미지를 프랙탈 변환함으로서 변환에 걸리는 시간을 줄일 수 있다. 또한 웨이브릿 변환 영역에서 임계치에 의해 삽입에 이용할 계수를 선택적으로 사용함으로써 적절한 대역에 삽입하여 시각적인 왜곡을 최소화 할 수 있다.

Staphylococcus aureus is a major human pathogen, implicated in both community and hospital acquired infections. The therapy for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections is becoming more difficult because of multidrug resistance and strong biofilmforming properties. Schiff bases have attracted attention as promising antibacterial agents. In this study, we investigated the in vitro activity of taurine-5-bromosalicylaldehyde Schiff base (TBSSB) against MRSA. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were determined using a microtiter broth dilution method. TBSSB effectively inhibited planktonic MRSA, with an MIC of 32 μg/ml. The time-kill curve confirmed that TBSSB exhibited bactericidal activity against MRSA. TBSSB was also found to significantly inhibit MRSA biofilm formation at 24 h, especially at 1×MIC and sub-MIC levels. Furthermore, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy showed remarkable morphological and ultrastructural changes on the MRSA cell surface, due to exposure to TBSSB. This study indicated that TBSSB may be an effective bactericidal agent against MRSA.

The esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is an aggressive tumor with a poor prognosis. Understanding molecular changes in ESCC should improve identification of risk factors with different molecular subtypes and provide potential targets for early detection and therapy. Our study aimed to obtain a molecular signature of ESCC through the regulation network based on differentially expressed genes (DEGs). We used the GSE23400 series to identify potential genes related to ESCC. Based on bioinformatics we constructed a regulation network. From the results, we could establish that many transcription factors and pathways closely related with ESCC were linked by our method. STAT1 also arose as a hub node in our transcriptome network, along with some transcription factors like CCNB1, TAP1, RARG and IFITM1 proven to be related with ESCC by previous studies. In conclusion, our regulation network provided information on important genes which might be useful in investigating the complex interacting mechanisms underlying the disease.

Spraying trajectory planning is a key and challenging work for intelligent spraying robot. In order to effectively fulfill spraying on complex surfaces without CAD model, a novel spraying trajectory planning method based on segmentation and trajectory sequence optimization is proposed in this paper, which is mainly composed by three steps: surface segmentation, trajectories generation and trajectories connection. In surface segmentation, a method named regional growth with minimum curvature point (RGMCP) is proposed to segment a 3D entity into different subsurfaces by taking normals and curvatures into consideration simultaneously. In trajectories generation step, an intersection of plane and point cloud (IPPC) algorithm is used to generate the optimal spraying trajectory for each segmented subsurface. Finally, for trajectories connection, a sequence optimization algorithm based on swap-evolution particles (SOSP) is proposed to connect all the subsurface trajectories as a complete spraying one in an optimum manner by regarding it as a sequence optimization problem. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by simulation and practical experiment simultaneously. Comparatively, our method can improve the efficiency of a spray task with 367 trajectories and 627 s time-consuming to 215 trajectories and 413 s, while the coating thickness variances are lowered from 51.9 µm2 and 30.4 µm2 to 3.64 µm2 and 7.89 µm2 respectively, which shows that the proposed method is more effective and can keep better coating thickness uniformity.
