Antibacterial and anticoagulant activity of silver nanoparticles synthesised from a novel source–pods of Peltophorum pterocarpum

Selvaraj Raja,Vinayagam Ramesh,Varadavenkatesan Thivaharan 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.29 No.-

We report the ability of a novel source – the aqueous extract of pods of Peltophorum pterocarpum for thesynthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs). SEM analysis exposes the spherical shape of the nanoparticlesand UV–vis spectra show the surface plasmon resonance peak at 407 nm. XRD analysis showed thecrystalline nature of SNPs. FT-IR spectra show the presence of biomolecules which play a role ofreduction of AgNO3 and capping the formed SNPs. A negative zeta potential of 15.8 mV endorses thestability and dispersion of SNPs. The antibacterial activity of the SNPs was demonstrated againstEscherichia coli and anticoagulant activity was also revealed

Expiration-Day Effects on Index Futures: Evidence from Indian Market

Ravi Kumar SAMINENI,Raja Babu PUPPALA,Ramesh MUTHANGI,Syamsundar KULAPATHI 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11

Nifty Bank Index has started trading in futures and options (F&O) segment from 13th June 2005 in National Stock Exchange. The purpose of the study is to enhance the literature by examining expiration effect on the price volatility and price reversal of Underlying Index in India. Historical data used for the current study primarily comprise of daily close prices of Nifty Bank which is the only equity sectoral index in India which is traded in derivatives market and its Future contract value is derived from the underlying CNX Bank Index during the period 1st January 2010 till 31st March 2020. To check stationarity of the data, Augmented Dicky Fuller test was used. The study employed ARMA- EGARCH model for analysing the data. The empirical results revealed that there is no effect on the mean returns of underlying Index and EGARCH (1,1) model furthermore shows there is existence of leverage effect in the Bank Index i.e., negative shocks causes more fluctuations in the Index than positive news of similar magnitude. The outcome of the study specifies that there is no effect on volatility on the underlying sectoral index due to expiration days and also observed no price reversal effect once the expiration days are over.

Primary Multiple Mesenteric Liposarcoma of the Transverse Mesocolon

        Sandeep Sachidananda,Arunkumar Krishnan,Raja Ramesh,Sivaprakasam Kuppurao 대한대장항문학회 2013 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.29 No.3

Liposarcomas are common tumors arising in the retroperitoneum. However, a primary mesenteric liposarcoma is a rare entity and less than 50 cases have been reported so far. Further, a liposarcoma arising in the transverse mesocolon is very unusual, and cases of multiple primary tumors arising from the transverse mesocolon are extremely rare. We want to report a case of a multiple primary mesenteric liposarcoma arising from the transverse mesocolon in a 63-year-old female who was successfully treated by surgery. Because a primary mesenteric liposarcoma is a rare entity, it should be considered with the differential diagnosis of an abdominal mesenchymal tumor. It can be diagnosed preoperatively by using contrast enhanced computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The treatment for such a liposarcoma is surgical resection with sufficient surgical margin; the role of adjuvant therapy has yet to be defined.

Development of tin (II) sulfide nanostructured films with uniform surface morphology by two-step growth process

Nandanapalli, Koteeswara Reddy,Mudusu, Devika,Lingandhinne, Raja Mohan Reddy,Mitta, Sekhar Babu,K. Reddy, Gunasekhar,Karuppannan, Ramesh,Whang, Dongmok Elsevier 2019 JOURNAL OF ALLOYS AND COMPOUNDS Vol.770 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Tin (II) sulfide (SnS), one of the most abundant materials, is being considered as an absorber material for the development of low-cost and nontoxic solar cell devices. In this direction, we have developed nanocrystalline films of SnS with uniform morphology on different substrates by adopting two-step thermal evaporation process. The surface studies show that irrespective of substrate nature, the as-grown SnS films possess uniform surface-morphology with well-defined facets. Structural studies reveal that SnS films grown on various substrates possess an orthorhombic crystal structure. However, as compared to other substrates, the structures developed on sapphire and copper exhibit ⟨010⟩ as preferential growth direction. From the electrical measurements, it is noticed that the films deposited on highly-conductive substrates consist of low electrical resistance, whereas the films are slightly resistive on insulating substrates. Based on these investigations it is emphasized that high-quality SnS films can be developed with uniform morphology on any substrates by adopting our two-step process.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> SnS films were developed with uniform morphology by using two-step process. </LI> <LI> The films grown on different substrates possess nanocrystallites with well-defined facets. </LI> <LI> These films consist of excellent chemical stoichiometry and phase purity. </LI> <LI> SnS films grown on different substrates have either ⟨111⟩ or ⟨010⟩ growth direction. </LI> </UL> </P>

Hydrothermal synthesis and pseudocapacitive properties of morphology-tuned nickel sulfide (NiS) nanostructures

        Naresh, Bandari,Punnoose, Dinah,Rao, S. Srinivasa,Subramanian, Archana,Raja Ramesh, B.,Kim, Hee-Je The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 NEW JOURNAL OF CHEMISTRY Vol.42 No.4

<P>Metal sulfides have attracted considerable scrutiny compared to metal oxides owing to their distinguished electrochemical properties and various applications, such as solar cells and supercapacitors. We have reported the pseudocapacitive properties of morphology-tuned NiS nanostructures using a hydrothermal method at different deposition times and temperatures. The surface morphology, structure, and chemical composition have been confirmed by SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS and EDS analyses. The optimized NiS-2 h electrode offers extra conductive paths on nickel foam, yielding a lower charge-transfer resistance and internal resistance than those of NiS-1 h and NiS-3 h. An investigation of its electrochemical properties indicates that the NiS electrode exhibited a specific capacitance of 1073.8 F g−1 and 959 F g−1 at current densities of 1.2 and 2.4 A g−1 in KOH solution, indicating its potential to be used in practical applications. Moreover, it delivered a maximum energy density of 23.19 W h kg−1 and a power density of 243.9 W kg−1 with an excellent cycling retention of 89% after 1000 charge-discharge cycles. This work also indicates an effective approach for the fabrication of high-performance electrodes in a cost-effective manner for higher energy density and power density applications, such as electric vehicles, flexible electronics, and energy storage devices.</P>
