This study aimed to explore the factors affecting the foreign direct investment (FDI) intentions of investors into Quang Ninh province, located in the north-eastern of Viet Nam. Researchers used two main methods, namely, Exploratory Factors Analysis (EFA) and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) based on partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS SEM) to explore and measure the impact of factors affecting the investors’ FDI intentions into Quang Ninh province. The empirical analysis used data from the survey of 206 domestic and foreign investors into Quang Ninh province, including representatives of the Board of Directors, members, and management representatives at the department level, with reliable tools (SPSS 26 and SmartPLS 3.0 software). The research results identified the following factors affecting investment into Quang Ninh: FDI attraction policies have the strongest impact on the investors’ FDI intentions; it is followed by infrastructure, public services and human capital with strong effects on intentions of investors’ FDI; and finally the standards of living that affects the investors’ FDI intentions. There is also a positive relationship between all the factors and the investors’ FDI intentions. Several recommendations are further suggested to enhance attraction of foreign direct investment into Quang Ninh province.

This paper investigates the determinants of credit accessibility and the effect of credit on the income of farm households borrowing from Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Giong Rieng District Branch, Kien Giang Province. Based on the primary data of 200 farming households who are the customer of the bank, the study applied the Probit regression model to examine determinant factors of credit accessibility of farm households and employed the Propensity score matching method to investigate the impact of credit on households’ income. The findings of the Probit regression shown that three independent variables that significantly influence the access to credit of households are household size, income source, and farm size. Besides that, the Propensity score matching method results showed a difference of 23.799 million VND/year between the income of borrowing households and that of non-borrowing households at the significance level of 1%. The difference in the imcome from the interval and central matching methods are VND 24.700 million VND/year and VND 24.633 million VND/year, respectively. Given empirical findings suggetsted that several recommendations to increase the credit accessibility of farm households, thereby creating favorable conditions for improving their income.
Elasticity of Market Demand between Modes of Transport in Vietnam by Price and Income

This study aims to determine the demand elasticity of passenger and freight transport market between different modes of transport in Vietnam by income, by price and by the price of substitute mode of transport (cross price). Upon consideration of the theoretical basis and inheriting the results of previous studies, this study applies a non-linear model to estimate the elasticity coefficients of demand. The analysis of the data for a 16-year period from 2001 to 2016 in Vietnam shows that as a general rule, the average per capita income is a factor that positively influences the transport market demand of different modes of transport. Freight rates, as a general rule, have an opposite effect on passenger transportation by waterway, freight transportation by road, by waterway and by air. Demand is greatly affected by the cross price in the freight transportation by air. The outcome of the research serves as a basis to propose business implications for executive management to make appropriate policies for each mode of transport and to create harmonization of all modes of transport.

In this era, the integrated technologies in a unit bring huge benefits for customers. In this paper, a novel design of structure for autonomous system is illustrated. It is superior by combining the specifications of various types in commercial market. As a result, numerous advantages of systems are converged into unified unit. The design of autonomous platform consists of hardware components and infrastructure. Later, the modeling of autonomous system is simulated on computer to fit with proposed design. The implementation of control scheme into model is to drive autonomous system to complete mission. From simulation results, it can be seen that the proposed strategy is feasible, effective and capable in reality.

This paper investigates a novel casing treatment method, called recirculation-bleeding channels, which combine a recirculation channel with additional bleeding channels. The system consists of 36 channels distributed around the blades and located on rotor shroud surface of a single-stage transonic axial compressor. This study focuses on its effects on aerodynamic performance of a single-stage transonic axial compressor, NASA Stage 37. Validation of numerical model of NASA Stage 37 was performed using experimental data for the single-stage transonic axial compressor. A common drawback of flow recirculation and air bleeding is the reduction in efficiency; however, numerical results showed that with the presence of recirculation-bleeding channels, both stall margin and adiabatic efficiency of the single-stage transonic axial compressor were increased as compared to the smooth casing with small penalty in pressure ratio. A parametric study of the recirculation-bleeding channels was performed for six geometric parameters. With recirculation-bleeding channels, the compressor could reach the stall margin of 13.85% at maximum while still retaining an increase in peak adiabatic efficiency. It is also showed that proper adjustments of the channels design can eliminate the deficiency in pressure ratio at peak efficiency condition.

The paper examines the impact of changes in the exchange rate on Vietnam’s trade balance with Japan based on the employment of both aggregate and industry-level data in a set of linear and nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag models. The results from the models indicate a degree of bias in regression when using aggregate data and a linear ARDL approach. Among the 19 industries under consideration, the NARDL model presents different responses to exchange rate movements from 16 industries, which account for 46% of imports and 63% of exports between Vietnam and Japan. Using aggregate data, the model shows that the exchange rate positively affects the Vietnam-Japan trade balance in the case of currency depreciation, whereas currency appreciation has no impact on the trade balance. Thus, it is concluded that the exchange rate is an effective tool to stimulate exports and improve the trade balance between Vietnam and Japan.
