      • Chemical synthesis of processable conducting polyaniline derivative with free amine functional groups

        Processable conducting polyaniline derivative with free amine functional groups was successfully synthesized from the monomer o-phenylenediamine in aqueous hydrochloric acid medium using ammonium persulfate as an oxidative initiator. The synthesized poly(o-phenylenediamine) (PoPD) in critical condition was found to be completely soluble in common organic solvents like dimethyl sulfoxide, N,N-dimethyl formamide etc. From the intrinsic viscosity measurement, the optimum condition for the polymerization was established. The polymer was characterized by ultraviolet visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ($^1HNMR$) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analyses. The weight average molecular weights of the synthesized polymers were determined by the dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. From the spectroscopic analysis the structure was found to resemble that of polyaniline derivative with free amine functional groups attached to ortho/meta position in the phenyl ring. However, very little ladder unit was also present with in the polymer chain. The moderate thermal stability of the synthesized polymer could be found from the TGA analysis. The average DC conductivity of $2.8{\times}10^{-4}S/cm$ was observed for the synthesized polymer pellet after doping with hydrochloric acid.

        Beta-almost Ricci solitons on almost CoKahler manifolds

        In the present paper is to classify Beta-almost ($\beta$-almost) Ricci solitons and $\beta$-almost gradient Ricci solitons on almost CoK\"ahler manifolds with $\xi$ belongs to $(k,\mu)$-nullity distribution. In this paper, we prove that such manifolds with $V$ is contact vector field and $Q\phi = \phi Q$ is $\eta$-Einstein and it is steady when the potential vector field is pointwise collinear to the reeb vectoer field. Moreover, we prove that a $(k,\mu)$-almost CoK\"ahler manifolds admitting $\beta$-almost gradient Ricci solitons is isometric to a sphere.

        Selective Sensing of Methanol by Poly(m-aminophenol)/Copper Nanocomposite

        The nanocomposite film of conducting poly(m-aminophenol) with copper nanoparticles (PmAP/Cu) prepared by a singlestepprocess has been demonstrated as the sensor material for selective detection of methanol vapor. Different techniques likeFourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to evaluate the interfacial interactions betweenPmAP and Cu nanoparticles within their conducting nanocomposites. The induced doping interaction through fluctuatingelectrostatic charge transfer between free –OH groups of the PmAP and Cu nanoparticles was confirmed from the spectralcharacterizations. About 3 wt% of Cu nanoparticles having average size of around 30–50 nm confirmed by the SEM and TEManalysis, was optimized inside the PmAP matrix in terms of better dispersion as well as achieving the highest conductivity(1.05 × 10−6 S/cm). The sensing performances, viz., % response, response time, recovery time, selectivity and reproducibilityof the nanocomposites were studied towards methanol vapor at different concentrations. The mechanism of selectivemethanol vapor sensing by PmAP/Cu nanocomposite film has been explained on the basis of selective dipole interactioncharacterized by zeta potential measurement.

        Structure and Properties of Conducting Poly(o-phenylenediamine) Synthesized in Different Inorganic Acid Medium

        Poly(o-phenylenediamine) was chemically synthesized from the monomer o-phenylenediamine in various inorganic acid medium, viz., hydrochloric (HCl), sulphuric (H2SO4) and phosphoric acid (H3PO4) to investigate the differences in structures and properties of the synthesized polymers. From the various characterizations, it was confirmed that the ladder type polymer with some open ring structure was formed in HCl medium while open ring type amine derivative of polyaniline structure was obtained in H2SO4 medium and the ladder type dimer was formed in H3PO4 medium. The structural differences of the polymers were correlated with the polymerization mechanism in different acid medium. Thus, the polymer synthesized in H2SO4 was well soluble in polar organic solvent like dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), N,N-dimethyl formamide, tetrahydrofuran etc. and casting of freestanding film was possible from DMSO solution. The highest average DC conductivity of H2SO4 doped polymer synthesized in H2SO4 medium was observed as 7.14×10-4 S/cm. The conductivity and doping properties of the polymer were explained here from the proper characterizations.

        Exploration of ready-to-eat soft Bora rice genotypes of Assam for submergence tolerance

        Assamese Bora rice lines are valuable genetic resource for their socio-economic importance and traditional usage. Being lowland rice lines of upper Brahmaputra basin, this group of genotypes also carries genetic potentiality for submergence tolerance which is another valuable aspect of Bora rice. Though a number attempts have been made to investigate their grain quality (softness and ready-to-eat properties), limited studies have recorded for their submergence tolerance. Thus, present study was undertaken to explore submergence tolerance potentiality of a collection of fve popular Bora rice lines with reference to the FR13A, the one and only rice genotype that has been utilized for submergence tolerance. Screening for submergence tolerance was done in standard experimental set up keeping the young seedlings of these lines in two subsequent phases (10 days and 20 days) of submergence followed by physio-biochemical analyses and conformation through RT-PCR-based expression study. Further, to unequivocally identify the rice genotypes at molecular level, the genomic DNA of the rice genotypes were amplifed for Sub1A loci to detect the associated allelic forms in form of diferent molecular weight of the amplifed products. Almost all the physio-biochemical parameters studied for the test plants in both the phases of submergence showed statistically signifcant diferences from the respective control plants. Among the fve rice genotypes, Saudang Bora showed best performance for most of the screening parameters with distinct allelic forms detected for the Sub1A loci
