        THE INCOMPLETE GENERALIZED τ-HYPERGEOMETRIC AND SECOND τ-APPELL FUNCTIONS

        Motivated mainly by certain interesting recent extensions of the generalized hypergeometric function [Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 23 (2012), 659-683] and the second Appell function [Appl. Math. Comput. 219 (2013), 8332-8337] by means of the incomplete Pochhammer symbols $({\lambda};{\kappa})_{\nu}$ and $[{\lambda};{\kappa}]_{\nu}$, we introduce here the family of the incomplete generalized ${\tau}$-hypergeometric functions $2{\gamma}_1^{\tau}(z)$ and $2{\Gamma}_1^{\tau}(z)$. The main object of this paper is to study these extensions and investigate their several properties including, for example, their integral representations, derivative formulas, Euler-Beta transform and associated with certain fractional calculus operators. Further, we introduce and investigate the family of incomplete second ${\tau}$-Appell hypergeometric functions ${\Gamma}_2^{{\tau}_1,{\tau}_2}$ and ${\gamma}_2^{{\tau}_1,{\tau}_2}$ of two variables. Relevant connections of certain special cases of the main results presented here with some known identities are also pointed out.

        <P>Extensive studies have been carried out on photocatalytic materials in recent years as photocatalytic reactions offer a promising solution for solar energy conversion and environmental remediation. Currently available commercial photocatalysts still lack efficiency and thus are economically not viable for replacing traditional sources of energy. This article focuses on recent developments in novel nano-photocatalyst materials to enhance photocatalytic activity. Recent reports on optofluidic systems, new synthesis of photocatalytic composite materials and motile photocatalysts are discussed in this article.</P>

      • Photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical water oxidation over metal-doped monoclinic BiVO(4) photoanodes.

        <P>The visible-light-induced water oxidation ability of metal-ion-doped BiVO(4) was investigated and of 12 metal ion dopants tested, only W and Mo dramatically enhanced the water photo-oxidation activity of bare BiVO(4); Mo had the highest improvement by a factor of about six. Thus, BiVO(4) and W- or Mo-doped (2 atom %) BiVO(4) photoanodes about 1 μm thick were fabricated onto transparent conducting substrate by a metal-organic decomposition/spin-coating method. Under simulated one sun (air mass 1.5G, 100 mW cm(-2)) and at 1.23 V versus a reversible hydrogen electrode, the highest photocurrent density (J(PH)) of about 2.38 mA cm(-2) was achieved for Mo doping followed by W doping (J(PH) ? 1.98 mA cm(-2)), whereas undoped BiVO(4) gave a J(PH) value of about 0.42 mA cm(-2). The photoelectrochemical water oxidation activity of W- and Mo-doped BiVO(4) photoanodes corresponded to the incident photon to current conversion efficiency of about 35 and 40 % respectively. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and Mott-Schottky analysis indicated a positive flat band shift of about 30 mV, a carrier concentration 1.6-2 times higher, and a charge-transfer resistance reduced by 3-4-fold for W- or Mo-doped BiVO(4) relative to undoped BiVO(4). Electronic structure calculations revealed that both W and Mo were shallow donors and Mo doping generated superior conductivity to W doping. The photo-oxidation activity of water on BiVO(4) photoanodes (undoped<W doped<Mo doped) was in accordance with the results from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, Mott-Schottky analysis, and theoretical electronic structural calculations. Thus, Mo or W doping enhanced the photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical water oxidation activity of monoclinic BiVO(4) by drastically reducing its charge-transfer resistance and thereby minimizing photoexcited electron-hole pair recombination.</P>

        INCOMPLETE EXTENDED HURWITZ-LERCH ZETA FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATED PROPERTIES

        Motivated mainly by certain interesting recent extensions of the generalized hypergeometric function [Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 23 (2012), 659-683] by means of the incomplete Pochhammer symbols $({\lambda};{\kappa})_{\nu}$ and $[{\lambda};{\kappa}]_{\nu}$, we first introduce incomplete Fox-Wright function. We then define the families of incomplete extended Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function. We then systematically investigate several interesting properties of these incomplete extended Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta function which include various integral representations, summation formula, fractional derivative formula. We also consider an application to probability distributions and some special cases of our main results.

        Synthesis and Antibacterial Evaluation of Some Novel 2-Arylamino-4-phenyl-thiazolyl Derivatives

        A series of 2-aminothiazoles derivatives have been synthesized and tested for in vitro antibacterial activity on different microorganisms. Syntheses have been carried out following simple methodology in excellent isolated yields. The structure and purity of the original compounds were confirmed by IR, NMR, Mass spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. All compounds were tested for antibacterial activity against S. aureus, S. pyogenes, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. typhi and V. parahaemolyticus. These preliminary results indicate that some of compounds are exhibiting good activity.

        Formation of high concentrations of isolated Zn vacancies and evidence for their acceptor levels in ZnO

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Research is described here that is directed toward obtaining <I>p</I>-type ZnO crystals either by doping or by creating native defects. Theoretically, zinc vacancies are shallow acceptors that should allow for <I>p</I>-type conduction. Bulk ZnO crystals can be grown by chemical vapor transport (CVT), melt solidification, and hydrothermal methods. Here we have explored annealing processes with the goal of creating zinc vacancies in bulk ZnO crystals. Positron annihilation spectra reveal the reproducible formation of high concentrations (>10<SUP>20</SUP> cm<SUP>−3</SUP>) of isolated zinc vacancies (<I>V</I> <SUB>Zn</SUB>) in oxygen-annealed, CVT-grown ZnO crystals in the ∼100–150 nm near-surface. Melt- and hydrothermally grown samples, in contrast, show insignificant levels of zinc vacancy creation. Photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra indicate a <I>V</I> <SUB>Zn</SUB>(0/-1) acceptor level at ∼ 155–165 meV; red PL (∼1.7 eV) emission, related to the <I>V</I> <SUB>Zn</SUB>(-1/-2) level, was also observed. Infrared absorption spectroscopy reveals the presence of a zinc vacancy complex with a hole binding energy range of 420–450 meV – and with a continuum suggesting a <I>p</I>-type region.         Performance Analysis of Cost Effective Portable Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping System

        Solar water pumping system (SWPS) is reliable and beneficial for Indian farmers in irrigation and crop production without accessing utility. The capability of easy installation and deployment, makes it an attractive option in remote areas without grid access. The selection of portable solar based pumps is pertaining to its longer life and economic viability due to lower running cost. The work presented in this manuscript intends to demonstrate performance analysis of portable systems. Consequent investigation reveals PSWS as the emerging option for rural household and marginal farmers. This can be attributed to the fact that, a considerable portion (around 45.7%) of the country’s land is farmland and irrigation options are yet to reach farmers who entirely rely on rain water at present for harvesting of the crops. According to census 2010-2011 tube wells are the main source for irrigation amongst all other sources followed by canals. Out of the total 64.57-million-hectare net irrigation area, 48.16% is accounted by small and marginal holdings, 43.77% by semi-medium and medium holdings, and 8.07% by large holdings. As per 2015-16 census data, nearly 100 million farming households would struggle to make ends meet. The work included in this manuscript, presents the performance of different commercial brands and different technologies of DC surface solar water micro pumping systems have been studied (specifically, the centrifugal and reciprocating type pumps have been considered for analysis). The performance of the pumping systems has been analyzed and data is evaluated in terms of quantity of water impelled for specific head. The reciprocating pump has been observed to deliver the best system efficiency.
