<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In previous work, the inorganic-organic hybrid perovskite system (C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB>CH<SUB>2</SUB>CH<SUB>2</SUB>NH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>MnCl<SUB>4</SUB> exhibit well-isolated 2D Heisenberg antiferromagnetc properties, including a canted antiferromagnet below T<SUB>N</SUB> = 44.3 K. This study looked at the antiferromagnetic spin structure of the titled compound using single-crystal neutron diffraction. At 43 K, a new forbidden (−1 0 0) peak was observed and this peak showed a clear temperature dependence. Additionally, non-integer forbidden peaks were found. It was assumed that the magnetic cell was equal to the chemical cell for Mn-PEA system (<I>k</I> = 0). No magnetic peaks were observed along the c-axis. From this data it can be assumed that the spin is parallel to the <I>c</I>-axis. This result coincides with previous magnetic measurement studies. According to Turov, in the case of an antiferromagnetic structure with weak ferromagnetism, the magnetic cell should be equal to the chemical cell. Our neutron diffraction measurement and former study strongly support the hypothesis of Turov.</P>

Shape Evolution and Gram-Scale Synthesis of Gold@Silver Core–Shell Nanopolyhedrons

<P>Au@Ag heterometal core–shell nanoparticles with distinct polyhedral shapes were successfully synthesized by a seed-mediated polyol process on a gram scale. The addition of the silver precursor solution led to continuous shape evolution from gold seeds to silver spheres, cuboctahedrons, and cubes, respectively. Silver nanocubes were also grown by selective edge growth on gold cuboctahedral seeds. The overgrowth of silver shells could precisely tune the optical properties of the core–shell polyhedrons. Critical behavior of quasi two-dimensional organic-inorganic halide perovskites (C6H5CH2CH2NH3)2CuCl4 is investigated using magneto-thermal and isothermal magnetic properties along the easy axis. Banerjee’s criterion indicates that phase transition from paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phases below TC = 9.4 K is of second-order. Scaling analysis reveals that critical exponent β from spontaneous magnetization in the critical region below TC and δ from critical isotherm at TC are found to be 0.22(3) and 9.28–9.4, close to 2D finite XY model. Meanwhile, γ from magnetic susceptibility in the critical region above TC is gradually decreased from 2.4 at high-temperature region. Critical exponents from magneto-thermal properties are found to be consistent with those determined from magnetization isotherms. The reliability of critical values is verified using the scaling hypothesis. Our results evidence that (C6H5CH2CH2NH3)2CuCl4 crossovers from isotropic 2D Heisenberg to anisotropic 3D models towards TC and can be promising candidates for magnetocaloric materials for hydrogen reliquefaction.

<P>In the present study, we demonstrate the precise tuning of surface plasmon resonance over the full visible range by compositional variation of the nanoparticles. The addition of sulfide ions into the Au@Ag core–shell nanocubes generates stable Au@Ag/Ag<SUB>2</SUB>S core–shell nanoparticles at room temperature, and the plasmon extinction maximum shifts to the longer wavelength covering the entire visible range of 500–750 nm. Based on the optical property, the Au@Ag core–shell nanocubes are employed as a colorimetric sensing framework for sulfide detection in water. The detection limit is measured to be 10 ppb by UV–vis spectroscopy and 200 ppb by naked eyes. Mecoprop-p interrupts the development of zebrafish via apoptosis and vascular damage

Mecoprop-p, a chlorophenoxy herbicide, has been widely used since the 1980s. Due to its high water solubility, it could be detected in the aquatic environment, as it has already been detected in the surface water or groundwater in several countries. The toxicity of other chlorophenoxy herbicides has been reported; however, there are few studies on the toxicity of mecoprop-p, one of the chlorophenoxy herbicides, on aquatic organisms. Here, we investigated the toxic effects of mecoprop-p using zebrafish. After mecoprop-p exposure, we observed that the zebrafish larvae eyes did not form normally, heart edema was generated, and the body length was shortened. The number of cells undergoing apoptosis also increased in the anterior part including head, heart, and yolk sac of the mecoprop-p-treated zebrafish compared to the untreated controls. Moreover, cardiovascular structures, including the heart and aortic arches, were also malformed after exposure to mecoprop-p. Therefore, our results suggest that mecoprop-p could cause abnormal development in zebrafish larvae and there is also a high possibility that mecoprop-p would be toxic to other aquatic organisms.

<P>Gold nanoparticles with suitable surface functionalities have been widely used as a versatile nanobioplatform. However, functionalized gold nanoparticles using thiol-terminated ligands have a tendency to aggregate, particularly in many enzymatic reaction buffers containing biological thiols, because of ligand exchange reactions. In the present study, we developed a one-step synthesis of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)ylated gold nanoparticles using poly(dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) in PEG as a polyol solvent. Because of the chelate effect of polymeric functionalities on the gold surface, the resulting PEGylated gold nanoparticles (Au@P-PEG) are very stable under the extreme conditions at which the thiol-monolayer-protected gold nanoparticles are easily coagulated. Using the solvent mixture of PEG and ethylene glycol (EG) and subsequent hydrolysis, gold nanoparticles bearing mixed functionalities of PEG and carboxylate are generated. The resulting particles exhibit selective adsorption of positively charged chymotrypsin (ChT) without nonselective adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA). The present nanoparticle system has many advantages, including high stability, simple one-step synthesis, biocompatibility, and excellent binding specificity; thus, this system can be used as a versatile platform for potential bio-related applications, such as separation, sensing, imaging, and assays.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/langd5/2013/langd5.2013.29.issue-44/la402315a/production/images/medium/la-2013-02315a_0013.gif'></P>

Current crowding problem can worsen the internal quantum efficiency and the negative-voltage ESD of InGaN-based LEDs. In this paper, by using photon emission microscope and thermal emission microscope measurement, we confirmed that the electric field and the current of the InGaN-based LED sample are crowded in specific regions where the distance between p-type metal contact and n-type metal contact is shorter than other regions. To improve this crowding problem of electric field and current, modified metal contact geometry having uniform distance between the two contacts is proposed and verified by a numerical simulation. It is confirmed that the proposed structure shows better current spreading, resulting in higher internal quantum efficiency and reduced reverse leakage current.
The Effect of Everyday Creativity and Communication Ability on Self-Leadership in Nursing Students

Aim(s): Recently, as the importance of providing medical information to patients and guaranteeing their rights is emphasized, autonomous leadership development of medical staff is emphasized in providing quality medical services. In particular, daily creativity and appropriate and efficient communication skills, which are concepts that improve self-actualization and adaptability in new and unique ways, are identified as factors that can develop self-leadership. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of everyday creativity and communication ability to self-leadership of nursing students. Method(s): The study conducted 157 nursing students in the first and third grades who agree with study participation. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from August to October 2020. SPSS/WIN 25.0 program was used to conduct statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, a one-way analysis of variance, and stepwise multiple linear regression. Result(s): Self-leadership based on general characteristics showed statistically significant differences in grade, economic level, and way of living. Also everyday creativity and communication skills showed statistically significant differences in gender. Self-leadership of nursing students showed that statistically significant positive correlations in the order of everyday creativity (r=.881, p<.01), communication ability (r=.829, p<.01). Stepwise multiple linear regression demonstrated that everyday creativity explained 59.0% of the variance in self-leadership. Conclusion(s): Through this study, positive correlation was confirmed between self-leadership, everyday creativity, and communication ability of nursing students, and it was found that everyday creativity has the greatest influence on self-leadership. Therefore, it suggests that further research is needed on the development and effectiveness of self-leadership programs that can improve everyday creativity and communication skills of nursing students.
