<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>As the impact of climate change increases, coastal cities are negatively affected by sea level rise, extreme rainfall, and storm surges. To cope with such climate change impacts, it is essential to invest in climate change adaptation procedures in coastal cities. This paper proposes a rainbow option-based methodology to accurately valuate investments in coastal city development considering climate change. This model is a tool for evaluating the economic feasibility considering the uncertainties of the impacts of climate and urban development projects. The National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project by Indonesian government was used as a case study to validate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed methodology. The option value of the NCICD project using the proposed model was estimated at US$ 7021 million. The rainbow option, dealing with both climate and market uncertainties, enables decision makers to reasonably assess the value of coastal development projects for their successful execution.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A decision-making model for the coastal urban development projects is proposed. </LI> <LI> Impact of climate change on coastal city development projects is assessed. </LI> <LI> The model used rainbow option method that considers multiple uncertainties. </LI> <LI> A case study of coastal city development project in Indonesia was conducted. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

최근 유럽에서는 도시와 도시를 연결하는 일반 및 고속철도 열차제어시스템인 ETCS와 도시철도에서 주로 사용되는 CBTC 시스템 간의 융합이 많은 주목을 받고있다. 유럽의 많은 철도관련기관이 함께 시스템 융합에 대한 기술사양을 개발하고 있다. 융합의 목표는 간선을 운행하는 열차가 도시 중심부의 노선을 별도의 시스템 변경 없이 혼용운영하는 것이다. 또한, 수송수요 확충과 에너지 절감 등의 이익을 도모하고자 하는 부속 목표로 개발이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유럽(EU)에서 Shift2Rail 프로젝트의 일환으로 2013년부터 개발중인 NGTC(Next Generation of Train Control system)에 대한 개요와 이에 관한 분석 결과를 소개함으로써 향후 우리나라 열차제어시스템 개발 방향에 관하여 논하고자 한다. Recently in Europe, the train control systems which are ‘CBTC is mainly used in urban railway’ and ‘ETCS is mainly used in general and high-speed railway for connecting to each cities’ has received a lot of attentions. For the more, currently a lot of railway related organizations in Europe have developed systems fusion-related specifications. The goal of fusion is "mixed routes in the heart of the city main train station to change without a separate operating system”. In addition, there is being developed as a sub-goal of promoting the interests of rail transport, such as expanding demand and energy savings. In this paper, present an overview and analysis of the result has being developed NGTC (New Generation Train Control system) part of Shift2Rail project since 2013, and it will be described with respect to the future direction of development of our country train control system.
기후변화를 고려한 홍수방재시설물의 경제성분석 : 임진강 유역사례

임진강 유역은 1996년부터 1999년까지 3번의 대규모 홍수가 발생하여 많은 인명피해와 9천억원의 재산피해를 입었다. 우리나라는 기후변화로 인하여 홍수피해가 앞으로 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구는 기후시나리오를 활용하여 미래의 홍수피해를 예측하고, 실물옵션 기반 경제성분석 방법을 제시하였으며, 임진강유역의 홍수방지시설물 투자사업의 사례연구를 통해 경제성분석을 실시하였다. RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) 기후시나리오에서 모의된 강수량 자료를 활용하여 홍수피해액을 계산하고, 홍수방지시설물 투자에 의한 저감이익을 분석하였다. 향후 RCP8.5와 RCP4.5 기후시나리오가 실현되는 조건을 가정하여 홍수피해 저감이익의 변동성을 구하고, 2071년에 200년 재현주기에 적응하도록 하는 확장을 위한 투자를 할 수 있는 확장옵션을 적용하여 프로젝트의 옵션가치를 구했다. 옵션가치 분석결과, 두 가지 시나리오 하에서 경제성을 확보하고 있음을 확인하였고, RCP8.5 기후시나리오가 실현될 때가 RCP4.5의 경우보다 홍수피해 저감이익이 더 많이 발생하였다. 본 연구는 정부 의사결정권자가 실물옵션분석방법을 활용하여 홍수방재시설물의 경제성분석에 기후변화 불확실성을 고려할 수 있도록 도와줄 것으로 기대되며, 기후시나리오에서 제공하는 강우자료를 활용하여 기후위험요소를 경제적 가치로 정량화하는 방법을 제시하였다. In Imjin River basin, three floods occurred between 1996 and 1999, causing many casualties and economic losses of 900 billion won. In Korea, flood damage is expected to increase in the future due to climate change. This study used the climate scenarios to estimate future flood damage costs and suggested a real options-based economic assessment method. Using proposed method, the flood control infrastructures in Imjin River basin were selected as a case study site to analyze the economic feasibility of the investment. Using RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) climate scenarios, the future flood damage costs were estimated through simulated rainfall data. This study analyzed the flood reduction benefits through investment in the flood control infrastructures. The volatility of flood damage reduction benefits were estimated assuming that the RCP8.5 and RCP4.5 climate scenarios would be realized in the future. In 2071, the project option value would be determined by applying an extension option to invest in an upgrading that would allow the project to adapt to the flood of the 200-year return period. The results of the option values show that the two investment scenarios are economically feasible and the project under RCP8.5 climate scenario has more flood damage reduction benefits than RCP4.5. This study will help government decision makers to consider the uncertainty of climate change in the economic assessment of flood control infrastructures using real options analysis. We also proposed a method to quantify climate risk factors into economic values by using rainfall data provided by climate scenarios.
GM396 재질을 이용한 Sleeveless 실린더 블록 주조기술 및 엔진개발

Regarding the design of cylinder blocks, current practice is a combination of HPDC procedure (High Pressure Diecasting) and Cast-in Iron liners to achieve light weight, acceptable heat dissipation capacity, and durability. Some companies have developed new technologies such as coating materials and processes, and aluminum-silicon alloy liners. This paper introduces another brand new cylinder block design, which includes new material, casting technology and cylinder bore design. Being composed of mono-material of GM396 without any liner or coating, various benefits can be achieved. The absence of cast iron sleeves increases heat release rate, reduces weight, simplifies the manufacturing process, and reduces material cost. In this process, sacrificial sleeve was used to minimize the shrinkage and casting defects (porosity). A Piston-Bore-Interface was developed using DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), and a new bore roughness was specified. GM-Dae woo’s inline 6 engine was used for development and validation.
