Objectives: This study was conducted to review the validity of the need for the application of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) to household chemical products in Korea. The study also aimed to assess the severity of health and environmental hazards of household chemical products using the GHS. Methods: 135 products were classified as ‘cleaning agents and polishing agents’ and 98 products were classified as ‘bleaches, disinfectants, and germicides.’ The current status of carcinogenic classification of GHS and carcinogenicity was examined for 272 chemical substances contained in household chemical products by selecting the top 11 products for each of the product categories. In addition, the degree of toxicity was assessed through analysis of whether the standard of the Republic of Korea’s regulations on household chemical products had been exceeded or not. Results: According to GHS health and environmental hazards, “acute toxicity (oral)” was found to be the highest for two product groups, ‘cleaning agents and polishing agents’, and ‘bleaches, disinfectants, and germicides’ (result of classification of 233 household chemical products) at 37.8% and 52.0% respectively. In an analysis of carcinogenicity assuming a threshold of IARC 2B for the substances in household chemical products, we found ‘cleaning agents and polishing agents’ to contain 12 chemical substances and ‘bleaches, disinfectants, and germicides’ 11 chemical substances. Conclusion: Some of the household chemical products were found to have a high hazard level including acute toxicity and germ cell mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, and reproductive toxicity. Establishing a hazard information delivery system including the application of GHS to household chemical products in Korea is urgent as well.

Background/Aims: Serrated polyposis syndrome (SPS) has been shown to increase the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, little is known about the characteristics of Asian patients with SPS. This study aimed to identify the clinicopathological features and risk of CRC in Korean patients with SPS as well as the differences between Korean and Western patients based on a literature review. Methods: This retrospective study included 30 patients with SPS as defined by World Health Organization classification treated at Samsung Medical Center, Korea, between March 1999 and May 2011. Results: Twenty patients (67%) were male. The median patient age at diagnosis was 56 years (range, 39-76 years). A total of 702 polyps were identified during a median follow-up of 43 months (range, 0-149 months). Serrated polyps were noted more frequently in the distal colon (298/702, 55%). However, large serrated polyps and serrated adenomas were mainly distributed throughout the proximal colon (75% vs. 25% and 81% vs. 19%, respectively); 73.3% had synchronous adenomatous polyps. The incidence of CRC was 10% (3/30 patients), but no interval CRC was detected. A total of 87% of the patients underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy and 19.2% had significant lesions. Conclusions: The phenotype of SPS in Korean patients is different from that of Western patients. In Korean patients, SPS is more common in men, there were fewer total numbers of serrated adenoma/polyps, and the incidence of CRC was lower than that in Western patients. Korean patients tend to more frequently have abnormal gastric lesions. However, the prevalence of synchronous adenomatous polyps is high in both Western and Korean patients. KINITI developed integrated client/server-based library automation system. This system is a part of project which is implementation of national industry & technology information distribution system. This paper describes history and characteristics of KINITI's library automation system. And It reviews briefly several functions and characteristics of sub-systems which consist of new integrated library automation system.

1990년을 전후하여 온라인 특허정보의 효과적 검색을 위한 특허정보검색시스템에 대한 비교연구가 활발하였다. 인터넷 기반 특허정보 검색을 위한 사용자 인터페이스에 관한 연구가 1990년대말 시도되었다가 그 이후 10년동안 사용자 인터페이스에 관한 연구가 중단되었다. 특허정보는 제작기관, 서비스기관에 따라 동일 데이터를 다양한 방식으로 서비스된다. 본 연구는 웹기반 특허정보서비스를 제공하는 사이트의 검색 인터페이스를 비교 분석한다. It was active comparative studies to search effectively patent information online before and after 1990. There was a few studies about user interface of internet based patent information in the end of 1990's. Since 1990's, there is no user interface studies on patent information. Nowadays, patent informations are served very differently according to service providers. This paper focuses on search interface of web-based patent information service and compares about each component.
