Effect of increasing dietary metabolizable protein on nitrogen efficiency in Holstein dairy cows

        Muhammad Imran,Talat Naseer Pasha,Muhammad Qamer Shahid,Imran Babar,Muhammad Naveed ul Haque 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.5

Objective: The objective of the study was to determine the effects of increasing levels of metabolizable protein (MP) on lactation performance and nitrogen (N) efficiencies in lactating dairy cows. Methods: Nine multiparous cows in mid lactation [113±25 days in milk] received three treatments in a 3×3 Latin square design with a period length of 21 days. The treatments were three diets, designed to provide similar energy and increasing supply of MP (g/d) (2,371 [low], 2,561 [medium], and 2,711 [high] with corresponding crude protein levels [%]) 15.2, 18.4, and 20.9, respectively. Results: Increasing MP supplies did not modify dry matter intake, however, it increased milk protein, fat, and lactose yield linearly. Similarly, fat corrected milk increased linearly (9.3%) due to an increase in both milk yield (5.2%) and milk fat content (7.8%). No effects were observed on milk protein and lactose contents across the treatments. Milk nitrogen efficiency (MNE) decreased from 0.26 to 0.20; whereas, the metabolic efficiency of MP decreased from 0.70 to 0.60 in low to high MP supplies, respectively. The concentration of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) increased linearly in response to increasing MP supplies. Conclusion: Increasing MP supplies resulted in increased milk protein yield; however, a higher BUN and low MNE indicated an efficient utilization of dietary protein at low MP supplies.

Photocatalytic degradation performance of various types of modified TiO2 against nitrophenols in aqueous systems

        Fatima, Rida,Afridi, Muhammad Naveed,Kumar, Vanish,Lee, Jechan,Ali, Imran,Kim, Ki-Hyun,Kim, Jong-Oh Elsevier 2019 JOURNAL OF CLEANER PRODUCTION Vol.231 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Nitrophenols are used extensively in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and pesticide industries. Recently, water pollution caused by nitrophenols has gained worldwide attention. Significant efforts have been made over the past years to develop effective treatment options for the removal of nitrophenols in aqueous phase. Photocatalysis using titanium dioxide (TiO2) is regarded as one of the most effective options to degrade nitrophenols in contaminated water. This review deals with the performance of TiO2 photocatalysis for the degradation of nitrophenols and related mechanisms. The performance of TiO2 photocatalysts is assessed by comparing basic performance metrics such as quantum yields and reaction rates before and after modification (e.g., pristine vs. modified forms). Results suggest that TiO2-based photocatalysis is a promising treatment option for degrading nitrophenol.</P>

Recent Advances in the Machining of Titanium Alloys using Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) Based Techniques

Salman Pervaiz,Saqib Anwar,Imran Qureshi,Naveed Ahmed 한국정밀공학회 2019 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.6 No.1

Titanium alloys are generally known as difficult-to-machine materials because of their low machinability ratings. Their usage is favored for demanding sectors because of their high strength to weight ratio, high corrosion resistance and ability to operate at elevated temperatures. Machining of titanium alloys results in higher environmental burden, because they require high energy and generous amount of cutting fluids during machining. It is a well-known fact that most of the cutting fluids are toxic and non-biodegradable in nature and their disposal is costly. Therefore, researchers in metal cutting are keen to explore the potential of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) and minimum quantity cooling lubrication (MQCL) based cooling techniques as an alternate to conventional flood cooling. When MQL and MQCL techniques are used by employing biodegradable vegetable based oils then there is an encouraging potential of replacing the non-biodegradable cutting fluids. This study documents the recent experimental and numerical advances achieved in the MQL and MQCL assisted techniques for machining titanium alloys. The study also highlights the current challenges in this area and recommends future work to address these challenges.

Electrochemical corrosion study of helium ions implanted Zircaloy-4 in chloride media

        Rafique, Mohsin,Khan, Atika,Afzal, Naveed,Farooq, Ameeq,Imran, M. Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.3

In this work, an attempt is made to improve the electrochemical corrosion resistance of Zircaloy-4 by helium ions implantation. For this purpose, the Zircaloy-4 was implanted with 300 keV helium ions of fluences 1 × 1013, 1 × 1015, and 1 × 1016 ions-cm-2 by using Pelletron Accelerator. Electrochemical tests of pristine and ion-implanted samples were performed in NaCl solution and their potentiodynamic polarization curves were obtained. The results showed enhancement of the corrosion resistance of Zircaloy-4 after helium ions implantation. The corrosion rate and current density of the material were significantly reduced by the helium implantation. The decrease in corrosion parameters was attributed to helium ions diffusion inside Zircaloy-4 that reduced the electrons flow from the samples.

Effect of partially replacing soybean meal with sunflower meal with supplementation of multienzymes on growth performance, carcass characteristics, meat quality, ileal digestibility, digestive enzyme activity and caecal microbiota in broilers

        Yaqoob Muhammad Umar,Yousaf Muhammad,Imran Safdar,Hassan Safdar,Iqbal Waqar,Zahid Muhammad Umer,Ahmad Naveed,Wang Minqi 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.10

Objective: An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of partially replacing soybean meal (SBM) with sunflower meal (SFM) with added exogenous multienzymes (MEs) on various biological parameters in broilers. Methods: One week-old, 400 broiler chicks were randomly divided into four treatments (control, 3SFM, 6SFM, and 9SFM) with 5 replicates/treatment (20 chicks/replicate). Control diet was without SFM and MEs, while diets of 3SFM, 6SFM, and 9SFM treatments were prepared by replacing SBM with SFM at levels of 3%, 6%, and 9%, respectively, and were supplemented with MEs (100 mg/kg). Feeding trial was divided into grower (8 to 21 day) and finisher phases (22 to 35 day). External marker method was used to measure the nutrient digestibility. At the end of trial, twenty birds (one birds per replicate) with similar body weight were slaughtered for samples collection. Results: No significant effect of dietary treatments was found on all parameters of growth performance and carcass characteristics, except relative weight of bursa. Weight (25.0 g) and length (15.80 cm) of duodenum were significantly (p<0.05) higher in 3SFM than control. Lowest (p<0.05) villus height/crypt depth ratio was found in 3SFM and 9SFM than control. Most of meat quality parameters remained unaffected, however, highest pH of breast meat (6.16) and thigh meat (6.44) were observed in 9SFM and 3SFM, respectively. Lowest (p<0.05) cook loss of thigh meat was found in 6SFM (31.76%). Ileal digestibility of crude protein was significantly (p<0.05) higher in 3SFM (72.35%) than control (69.46%). In addition, amylase (16.87 U/mg) and protease (85.18 U/mg) activities were significantly (p<0.05) higher in 3SFM than control. However, cecal microbial count remained unaffected. Conclusion: Partial replacement (up to 9%) of SBM with SFM, with added MEs can help to improve the nutrient digestibility, intestinal morphology, and digestive enzyme activities without affecting cecal microbial count and growth performance in broilers. Context-Aware Handover Skipping for Train Passengers in Next Generation Wireless Networks

        Asad, Syed,Klaine, Paulo,Rais, Rao Naveed Bin,Mollel, Michael,Hussain, Sajjad,Abbasi, Qammer,Imran, Muhammad 한국통신학회 2023 Journal of communications and networks Vol.25 No.3

5G spectral efficiency requirements foresee net-work densification as a potential solution to improve capac-ity and throughput to target next-generation wireless net-works (NGWNs). This is achieved by shrinking the footprint ofbase stations (BSs), effective frequency reuse, and dynamic useof shared resources between users. However, such a deploymentresults in unnecessary handovers (HOs) due to the cell sizedecrements, and limited sojourn time on a high train mobility. In particular, when a train speedily passes through the BS radiocoverage footprints, frequent HO rate may result in seriouscommunication interruption impacting quality of service (QoS). This paper proposes a novel context-aware HO skipping thatrelies on passenger mobility, trains trajectory, travelling timeand frequency, network load and signal to interference and noiseratio (SINR) data. We have modelled passenger traffic flows incardinal directions i.e, north, east, west, and south (NEWS),in a novel framework that employs realistic Poisson pointprocess (PPP) for real-time mobility patterns to support mo-bile networks. Spatio-temporal simulations leveraging NEWSmobility prediction model with machine learning (ML) wheresupport vector machine (SVM) shows an accuracy of 94.51%. ML-driven mobility prediction results integrate into our proposedscheme that shows comparable coverage probability, and averagethroughput to the no skipping case, while significantly reducingHO costs.

      • Image Watermarking Scheme Using LSB and Image Gradient

        Zaid Bin Faheem,Sana Hameed,Misbah Naveed,Naveed Imran,Zubair Shoukat,Mubashir Ali 한국차세대컴퓨팅학회 2021 한국차세대컴퓨팅학회 학술대회 Vol.2021 No.11

Watermarking techniques are mandatory to secure digital communication. For optimal technique, a high signal to noise ratio and normalized correctional is required. In this paper, a method that belongs to digital watermarking is proposed based on chaotic map through image gradient and least significant bit. The image is segmented into un-correlated blocks and calculate the gradient of each block. The gradient of the image expresses the rapid changes in an image. When watermark used chaotic substitution box (S-Box), it scrambled based on piecewise linear chaotic map (PWLCM). PWLCM has positive Lyapunov exponent and better balance property as compare to other chaotic map. This suggested s-box technique is capable to produce dispersive sequence with high nonlinearity in the generated sequence. By modifying the least significant bits of the original image the watermark signal is embedded based on the image gradient. Image block gradient ,direction and magnitude decide how much embeding can be done. The embedding payload compromises between robustness and imperceptibility. By the reverse operation, a watermarked image is obtained. In comparison with other methods, experimental results show satisfactory progress in robustness against several image processing and geometrical attacks while maintaining the imperceptibility of the watermark signal.
