Testosterone is a representative natural steroid hormone with potent androgenic and anabolic properties and consequently used by youngsters and athletes to achieve bodies with lean muscle mass, improve skin elasticity as well as increase endurance and tolerance to strenuous exercise. The long-term use of marketed preparations containing testosterone can result in latent health risks to consumers. There are genuine demands for continuous development of highly sensitive and effective quantification methods for analytically monitoring the illegal use of testosterone. Previously existing methods like HPLC-UV, HPLC-MS and GC-MS are time consuming as well as tedious operation procedures limit their use. Hence a simple, precise, accurate, sensitive and reliable method for determination of low concentrations of testosterone in biological fluids viz., serum has been developed. The developed spectrofluorimetric method provides a faster and low cost quality control by simultaneous routine analysis of testosterone in biological fluids as well as marketed preparations containing testosterone.

EFFECTS OF HORIZONTAL MERGER ON PRICE , PROFITS , AND MARKET POWER IN A DOMINANT - FIRM OLIGOPOLY
MALLELA, PARTHASARADHI,NAHATA,BABU 한국국제경제학회 1989 International Economic Journal Vol.3 No.1
Assuming that all firms have rising marginal costs, merger between a dominant firm and one of the firms in the competitive fringe is considered. The effects on market price and output, profits and market power are shown when the dominant firm operates as a two-plant firm after merger and output arises from both plants. It is proved that if merger offers no efficiency gain, then market price always rises; and if merger results in efficiency gain, then market price falls if and only if there are sufficiently large number of firms in the fringe. In any case, there is profit incentive for merger to take place.
A simple, rapid and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of camptothecin

Camptothecin (CPT) represents a clinically useful class of anticancer agent. Proper identification and quantitation of the CPT in the plant extracts and in-vitro cell culture extracts is fundamental to assess the CPT content and its biosynthetic potential in plants. A simple, sensitive and rapid, spectrofluorimetric method has been developed and validated for the quantitative estimation of camptothecin. The method was validated in terms of linearity (2-20 ng/ml), precision (intra-day variation below 0.15, interday variation below 1.2), and accuracy (98.0 to 100.2%). The limit of detection and limit of quantification for CPT were found to be 0.10 ng/ml and 0.36 ng/ml, respectively. The developed spectrofluorimetric method provides a rapid and cost effective method for the routine analysis of CPT in plant extracts and tissue culture samples. The developed method was successfully used for the estimation of CPT in natural plant extracts and cell culture extracts. The Nothapodytes nimmoniana callus cells having nearly 3-fold higher CPT content over the leaf (0.005%) explant of the plant. The highest CPT content was found in the stem part (0.092%) followed by the fruit (0.088%). The method is simple, sensitive and precise; it can be used for the routine quality control testing of formulations containing CPT.
