<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper presents a theoretical and experimental evaluation of the application of lead rubber dampers (LRD) in the chevron bracing of structures. This device consists of a circular lead core with several layers of steel and rubber plates that are sandwiched together. This damper was manufactured at the earthquake engineering laboratory of Urmia University and installed inside a SDOF steel frame. The frame was placed on a shaking table, and its responses under several earthquake excitations were recorded. A 3D finite element model was created for the device, and hyper-elastic properties were determined for the rubber layers. To check the effectiveness of the device in mitigating the responses of multi-story frames, several nonlinear time history analyses were conducted on the structures using three earthquake excitations. The results indicate that significant reductions in the stories’ drift can be achieved by installing lead-rubber dampers in the chevron bracing.</P>

Herein, we report the synthesis and pharmacological properties of several series of pyridazine and pyridazinone derivatives. All the synthesized compounds were tested, in vivo, for their anti-inflammatory and ulcerogenic properties against indomethacin, as a reference compound. Compounds 4a and 9d have shown a potent anti-inflammatory activity more than indomethacin with rapid onset of action and safe gastric profile. The latter compounds were then selected for further investigation. In the MTT assay in vitro, both compounds were identified as potent and selective COX-2 inhibitors.

The group chain acceptance sampling plans are widely used in industrial sectors when we want to minimize the inspection by selecting number of batches representing the whole lot. The research is based on the construction of plan parameters of group chain acceptance sampling (GCAS) plan when life of the items follows Beta Burr Type-X (BB-X) distribution. The various design parameters i.e. optimum number of groups, minimum mean ratio, operating characteristic (OC) values and minimum angles are calculated by satisfying and obeying producer’s and consumer’s risks at a certain specified quality level. Assuming prefixed number of item, the scale parameters and termination time, the plan parameters are calculated. The application of proposed plan is provided on real life data set and the results of tables with the help of classical examples are also discussed for illustrative purpose.
