Graduate Students’ Training on Disability in Counselor Education Programs

Researchers have focused on how to effectively incorporate disability knowledge into the core counselor curriculum in counseling and counselor education programs. Currently, little is known about disability content in counseling programs. This study investigates the competencies of master’s students with regards to disability knowledge and disability content within master’s counseling programs. The findings of this study offer a broad perspective on graduate students’ learning in the counseling profession. Implications on disability content areas in counseling programs are suggested.

The purpose of this study is to suggest direction for vitalizing creative dance performance and for increasing spectators based on its outcome by carrying out a research on selection factors in creative dance performance using IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis) and further to offer useful implication for performance staff. The research subjects are 248 spectators who watched creative dance performance more than once. A questionnaire was conducted by forming a measurement tool with service marketing MIX(7P) factors. frequency analysis and paired sample T-test was carried out for the data processing. As a result of analyzing difference, most factors were indicated to evaluate importance more highly compared to satisfaction. as the results of IPA, was involved ‘a performance work easy for understanding, proper admission fee, admission-fee discount benefit, a location of venue, accessibility to venue, publicity through SNS, and the offer of internet information on public performance.’ are included in the 2nd quadrant, which requires the most preferentially intensive improvement out of 4 quadrants, These factors need to be enhanced most intensively.

An interactive dance learning system can help a user to learn a dance step by step. However, previous studies have not analyzed the factors to have effects on the behavioral intention to use the interactive dance learning system although it is important to analyze them for popularizing a dance. In this study, we analyse the factors to have an effect on the behavioral intention for the meaningful use of the interactive dance learning system in consideration of the characteristics of interactive dance learning system and the user behavior. For this purpose, we use a model which is based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to incorporate an additional factor, trust. A survey data for 155 respondents is used for statistical analysis. Detailed research results are following; First, the perceived ease of use affects the perceived enjoyment and the trust. Second, the perceived enjoyment and the trust affect the perceived usefulness. Third, the perceived enjoyment, the trust, and the perceived usefulness affects the intention to use. Fourth, the perceived easy of use shall not affect the perceived usefulness and the intention to use. Through these results, we expect to provide the useful implications for popularizing the interactive dance learning system.

Background: Scrub typhus, anaplasmosis, and leptospirosis are well known diseases that are considered common, widespread rodent-borne infectious diseases. Methods: This study investigated the prevalence of Orientia tsutsugamushi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and Leptospira interrogans in wild rodents through molecular detection using organ samples and through serological assay using blood samples of mice collected from two distinct sites in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea (ROK). Resuts: A total of 47 wild rodents, identified as Apodemus agrarius (A. agrarius), were captured from June to August 2016. The seroprevalence of antibodies against bacterial pathogens in A. agrarius sera was analyzed; 17.4% (8/46) were identified as O. tsutsugamushi through indirect immunofluorescence assay and 2.2% (1/46) were identified as Leptospira species through passive hemagglutination assay. Using polymerase chain reaction, the spleen, kidney and blood samples were investigated for the presence of O. tsutsugamushi, A. phagocytophilum, and L. interrogans. Out of the 47 A. agrarius, 19.1% (9/47) were positive for A. phagocytophilum and 6.4% (3/47) were positive for L. interrogans, while none were positive for O. tsutsugamushi. Four out of 46 (8.7%) blood samples, six out of 45 (13.3%) spleen samples, and one out of 47 (2.1%) kidney samples were positive for A. phagocytophilum. Three out of 47 (6.4%) kidney samples were positive for L. interrogans. The sequencing results of PCR positive samples demonstrated > 99% similarity with A. phagocytophilum and L. interrogans sequences. Conclusions: A. phagocytophilum was mostly detected in the spleen, whereas L. interrogans was mostly detected in the kidneys. Notably, A. phagocytophilum and L. interrogans were detected in A. agrarius living in close proximity to humans in the metropolitan suburban areas. The results of this study indicate that rodent-borne bacteria may be present in wild rodents in the metropolitan suburban areas of ROK.

Macrophage-derived chemokine, C-C motif chemokine 22 (MDC/CCL22), is one of the inflammatory chemokines that controls the movement of monocytes, monocyte-derived dendritic cells, and natural killer cells. Serum and skin MDC/CCL22 levels are elevated in atopic dermatitis, which suggests that the chemokines produced from keratinocytes are responsible for attracting inflammatory lymphocytes to the skin. A major signaling pathway in the interferon-γ (IFN-γ)-stimulated inflammation response involves the signal transducers and activators of transcription 1 (STAT1). In the present study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effect of dieckol and its possible action mechanisms in the category of skin inflammation including atopic dermatitis. Dieckol inhibited MDC/CCL22 production induced by IFN-γ (10 ng/mL) in a dose dependent manner. Dieckol (5 and 10 μM) suppressed the phosphorylation and the nuclear translocation of STAT1. These results suggest that dieckol exhibits anti-inflammatory effect via the down-regulation of STAT1 activation.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate differentially expressed genes and their functions in the hippocampus and striatum after heroin administration in cynomolgus macaques of different ages. Methods: Cynomolgus monkeys were divided by age as follows: 1 year (A1, n = 2); 3 to 4 years (A2, n = 2); 6 to 8 years (A3, n = 2); and older than 11 years (A4, n = 2). After heroin was injected intramuscularly into the monkeys (0.6 mg/kg), we performed large-scale transcriptome profiling in the hippocampus (H) and striatum (S) using RNA sequencing technology. Some genes were validated with real-time quantitative PCR. Results: In the hippocampus, the gene expression of A1H was similar to that of A4H, while the gene expression of A2H was similar to that of A3H. Genes associated with the mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway (STMN1, FGF14, and MAPT) and -aminobutyric acid-ergic synapses (GABBR2 and GAD1) were differentially expressed among control and heroin-treated animals. Differential gene expression between A1S and A4S was the least significant, while differential gene expression between A3S and A2S was the most significant. Genes associated with the neurotrophin signaling pathway (NTRK1 and NGFR), autophagy (ATG5), and dopaminergic synapses (AKT1) in the striatum were differentially expressed among control and heroin-treated animals. Conclusion: These results suggest that even a single heroin exposure can cause differential gene expression in the hippocampus and striatum of nonhuman primates at different ages.

A 38-year old male patient underwent tracheal reconstruction because of a tracheal tumor. A CT scan showed that the mass was located 5 cm above the carina, the size was 2x1.5cm, and there was a 50% narrowing of the stenotic segment. After endotracheal intubation (1.D. 8mm), a pediatric suction catheter (lenght:40cm, diameter: 2mm) was inserted with a stylet at the side of the tube to pass the stenotic segment with fiberoptic bronchoscopic guidance. Conventional ventilation with an inhalation agent was performed and HFJV was started just prior to the tracheal incision. A driving gas pressure of 1 kg/cm, respiratory rate of 120/min., I:E ratio fo 1:1, and Fio₂ of 1.0 were applied through the suction catheter. Ten minutes after HFJV, PaCO₂showed 50mmHg. Hypercabia was relieved by increasing the driving gas pressure from 1kg/cm² to 1.5 kg/cm². HFJV was performed for one and a half hours. During the procedure, blood gas analyses were perfomed frequently and all results revealed an adequate ventilatory status. r completing the end to end anastomosis, conventional ventilation was started until surgery was ended. The patient's course proceeded uneventfully and he was discharged 13 days after surgery.
CMIP5 GCMs와 다양한 가뭄지수 (SPI, SPEI, EDDI)를 활용한 미래 가뭄 전망

세계적인 기후변화의 영향으로 홍수, 가뭄 등의 자연재해의 강도와 빈도가 증가할 것으로 예측되고 있으며, 한반도의 강수량 및 패턴의 변화, 온도 변화, 가뭄 빈도와 심도의 변화를 겪고 있다. 특히 국내의 경우 계절별, 지역별 강우편차가 커져 가뭄발생 지역과 그 빈도가 증가하고 있는 상황으로 기후변화의 영향이 전 지구 평균보다 빠르게 상승하고 있다. 가뭄은 긴 시간에 걸친 강수의 부족으로 발생하는 자연재해로, 재해의 시작을 정확히 관측할 수 없을 뿐만 아니라 경제적 피해가 큰 재해이다. 따라서 가뭄에 대응하기 위해 가뭄현상을 모니터링하고 신뢰성 있는 예측정보를 구축해야 한다. IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)에서는 온실가스 배출 시나리오인 대표농도경로(Representative Concentration Pathway, RCP) 시나리오를 개발했고, 결합기후모델상호비교사업(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5, CMIP5)을 통해 RCP 시나리오에 기반한 지구 기후변화 시나리오가 작성되었다. 본 연구에서는 남한을 대상으로 표준강수지수 (Standardized Precipitation Index, SPI), 표준강수증발산지수 (Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index, SPEI), 증발산수요가뭄지수 (Evaporative Demand Drought Index, EDDI)를 이용하여 미래 가뭄발생을 전망하고, 각 RCP 시나리오를 기반으로 한 전지구 기후모델 (General Circulation Model, GCM)의 미래 가뭄 예측 결과를 비교, 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과는 다양한 CMIP5 GCMs와 가뭄지수를 활용한 가뭄예측 비교 연구의 기초자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
