Extension of the adaptive boundary element scheme for the problem with mixed boundary conditions

This paper presents a construction of adaptive boundary element for the problem with mixed boundary conditions such as heat transfer between heated body surface and surrounding medium. The scheme is based on the sample point error analysis and on the extended error indicator, proposed earlier by the authors for the potential and elastostatic problems, and extended successfully to multidomain and thermoelastic analyses. Since the field variable is connected with its derivative on the boundary, their errors are also interconnected by the specified condition. The extended error indicator on each boundary element is modified to meet with the situation. Two numerical examples are shown to indicate the differences due to the prescribed boundary conditions.
Scintillation properties of GdAlO3 single crystals doped with Nd

Nd-doped GdAlO3 single crystals were synthesized by the floating-zone method to evaluate their scintillation properties,particularly in the near-infrared (NIR) range. Under X-ray irradiation, scintillation due to the 4F3/2→4I11/2 transition of Nd3+was observed at 1064 nm. By changing the irradiation dose from 1 mGy-10Gy, we evaluated the relation between thescintillation intensity and the X-ray dose, and some samples showed good linearity. The scintillation decay time ranged 66-241μs due to Nd3+.

Effect to optical properties by changing the Al2O3 ratio in K2O-Al2O3-P2O5 glasses

In this study, we prepared glasses with the composition of 0.1% Ce-doped (100−x) KPO3-xAl2O3 and investigated luminescent characteristics. The glass samples with different Al2O3 ratio (x = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40) were synthesized by the melt quenching method. The All samples had high transmittance (80−90%) at wavelengths longer than 350 nm except for x = 40, and by increasing the Al2O3 ratio, the transmittance of the samples was improved. From the measurements of photoluminescence (PL) decay curve, the luminescence decay time was confirmed to be typical for the 5d−4f transition of Ce3+ (~30 ns). The samples showed thermally-stimulated luminescence (TSL), and the sensitivity of dose response was confirmed to be linear in the dose range from 0.01 mGy to 1 Gy for the x = 25 and 30 samples which showed the highest sensitivity among the present samples. The scintillation spectra show the broad luminescence around 300−500 nm, and these emission intensities were increased by increasing the Al2O3 ratio.
한일공동VLBI관측망을 위한 초고속 VLBI상관기 구축 및 시험결과 고찰

한국천문연구원에서는 2006년부터 한일공동VLBI상관기 개발을 추진하고 있으며, 2009년 10월에 l단계 VLBI상 관기의 설치를 완료하였다. VLBI상관기는 FX 형태로 안테나 유닛에서 푸리에 변환 후에 상관유닛에서 상관처리를 수행한다. 본 연구에서 개발한 VLBI상관기는 최대 16관측국, 8Gbps, 8192출력 채널의 성능을 가지며, 기록미디어로 하드디스크를 사용하는 한국과 테이프를 사용하는 일본의 시각동기재생처리를 위해 재생기와 상관기 사이에 동기재생처리 시스템을 두었다. 개발한 VLBI상관기의 성능시험을 위해 한국천문연구원의 한국우주전파관측망 (KVN)으로 관측한 VLBI전파 데이터를 대상으로 시스템의 시험운영을 수행하였으며, 상관 프리지를 얻어 시스템의 유효성을 확인하였다. 본 발표애서는 전체 시스템의 구성과 상관기 시험운영결과에 대해 고찰한다.
