The biological treatability of steel industry wastewater treated by an activated sludge process was evaluated by using continuous and batch biological activated carbon (BAC) reactor. The results are summarized as follows: 1. With respect to the hydraulic retention time and effluent water quality, the operating condition was found to be effective at the up flow velocity of 0.1m/h, when the initial concentration of COD was 108㎎/ℓ. The average removal efficiency of COD appeared to be 77% under the same condition. 2. Effluent COD was linearly increased with the COD volumetric loading rate up to approximately 1000g/㎥ day, and then the increasing rate of the effluent COD appeared to be substantially lowered. In addition, the overall substrate removal rate was found to be proportional to the effluent COD. 3. COD concentration at the one-half maximum growth rate of biofilm mass ㉿ and maximum COD utilization rate perunit mass of attached biofilm mass (k) were 66.5㎎/ℓ and 0.15 day?¹, respectively, which were estimated on the basis of data obtained in the batch reactor.

Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

Galeazzi fractures in child is rare and seldom necessary of operative treatment because the result of conservative treatment is good. We present the patient who was a 11-year-old male and fell onto his both hands during a hundred-meter dash. His diagnosis was bilateral Galeazzi fractures and limited open reduction and internal fixation with Kirschner pins was initial treatment at local hospital. After 4 weeks postoperatively, Kirschner pins were removed and rehabilitating exercise was started. After 4 months postoperatively, he was transferred to our hospital due to malunion with severe angular deformities and distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) dislocation. He was treated with corrective osteotomy. Thus, as in this case, we suggest more careful treatment and observation if conservative method of Galeazzi fracture in child is chosen and consider operative method as treatment according to age and pattern of fracture.

We performed a customer relationship management research, by use of a business case. We considered a hospital, Hu Hospital, as a pilot company in order to classify customers and specializing joint diseases on Big Data environment. Hu Hospital, located in Busan, Republic of Korea, and specialized in acute phase treatment of joint diseases, is facing challenges from intense competition caused by the increasing number of medical institutions playing similar roles within the community. In order to develop into a competent hospital in such environment, Hu Hospital was in need of differentiated marketing strategy for each customer group and measures for customer defection management. Thanks to big data analysis, Hu Hospital was able to classify its customers into groups and identify characteristics of loyal versus defected customers. The results were applied to development of customer management strategy and action plans, which were already put into practice. Having experienced the values of big data through the Support Program, Hu Hospital will continue to collect, integrate, and analyze data from in and out of the hospital, create values from the data, and further grow into a medical institution that is dedicated to health promotion of citizens in Busan and Gyeongsang provincial areas in Republic of Korea.

The web 2.0 is leading a rapid change of internet services. The UCC(User Created Contents) service is one of the representative internet services with web 2.0 paradigm. in this paper, we design and implement the UCC services prototype system for image and video. The proposed system does not need to install ActiveX and client programs on devices of users to edit their contents. All processes for editing UCC are conducted on the server. Our proposed system consists of the two components such as the multimedia editing subsystem and the metαdαtα management system. They provide the API to UCC service developers or vendors. The multimedia editing subsystem supports editing for image and video. and the streaming services of video. The metαdαtα management subsystem supports the metαdαtα management and retrieval of image and video.
