본 연구는 순면 잔존 치질의 두께와 후방 복합레진의 색상이 최종 수복된 치아표면의 색상에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 시행하였다. 배경판으로 사용될 복합레진은 Filtek Supreme (3M ESPE, St. Paul, U.S,A.)의 Al, A2, A6D, Bl, B2, B3,C1, C2 C6D를 선택하였다. 배경판으로 사용될 복합레진 시편은 직경 10 mm, 두께 4.5 mm로 각 shade당 한 개씩 제작하였다. 순면 잔존 치질은 상악 중절치 치관의 순면을 제외한 나머지 부위를 아크릴릭 레진을 이용하여 매몰 후 저속의 Diamond Wheel Saw (Isomet ; Buehler Ltd, Lake Bluff, U.S.A.)를 이용하여 주수 하에 순면으로부터 2.5 mm 두께로 절단하였다. 절단된 상아질측 표면을 2000번 사포로 연마하여 2.2 mm 두께의 시편을 얻었다. 분광광도계 Spectrolino^(Ⓡ) (Serial No. 3257-18522, GretagMacbeth, Regensdorf, Switzerland)를 이용하여 치아시편을 9개의 복합레진 시편위에 접촉면에 수분이 있는 상태로 위치시켜 치아 순면색상을 측정하였다. 그 후, 치아시편의 상아질 측면을 1.0 mm까지 0.3 mm 간격으로 연마하면서 복합레진 시편위에 위치시켜 동일한 방법으로 색상을 측정하였다. 모든 시편에서 L^(*)값과 b^(*)값은 배경색에 무관하게 치아시편의 두께가 두꺼워질수록 증가하는 양상을 보였으나(p <0.05), a^(*)값은 배경색에 무관하게 두께에 따른 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. In this study we evaluated the influence of both the thickness of residual enamel and the color of the composite resins applied to lingual surface on the labial surface color. Background plates were made by randomly (Al, A2, A6D, Bl, B2, B3, Cl, C2, C6D) selected colors of Filtek Supreme (3M ESPE, St. Paul, U.S.A.) composite resin. Crown portion of 9 maxillary central incisors were cut off and embedded with acrylic resin except labial surface. Samples of average thickness of 2.2 mm were obtained after cutting it in a thickness of 2.5 mm from the labial surface and sandpaper polish. The shade of composite resin background was measured using Spectrophotometer (Spectrolino^(Ⓡ), GretagMacbeth, Regensdorf, Switzerland). And CIE L^(*)a^(*)b^(*) value of 2.2 mm thickness tooth samples were measured on the 9 composite resin backgrounds. And then, the cutting side of tooth samples was ground to the extent of 1.9 mm, 1.6 mm, 1.3 mm, 1.0 mm and placed on composite resin backgrounds and measured L^(*)a^(*)b^(*) values with the same method. In all samples, L^(*) value and b^(*) value seemed to have a tendency of decreasing as thickness of tooth sample becomes thinner regardless of background colors (p < 0.05). But, a^(*) value didn't show the significant differences depending on the thickness.

This paper presents an approach which classifys more accurately clusters for the data sets being different size cluster. We have more degree of membership to the large cluster and less degree of membership to the small cluster by the size of cluster. In the proposed algorithm, the internal data in the average intracluster distance was given the degree of membership more than 1. So we assume the data is proper. FCM is given the degree of membership depends on the distance between data and the center of cluster. But in the proposed algorithm, the center searching was improved about different size cluster by giving the degree of membership using the distance from each data to intracluster.
LED를 이용한 복합레진의 광조사시, 중합수축의 속도와 양, 미세경도에 관한 연구

This study evaluated the effectiveness of the light emitting diode(LED) units for composite curing. To compare its effectiveness with conventional quartz tungsten halogen (QTH) light curing unit, the microhardness of 2mm composite, Z250, which had been light cured by the LEDs (Ultralume LED2, FreeLight, Developing product D1) or QTH (XL 3000) were compared on the upper and lower surface. One way ANOVA with Tukey and Paired t-test was used at 95% levels of confidence. In addition, the amount of linear polymerization shrinkage was compared between composites which were light cured by QTH or LEDs using a custom-made linimeter in 10s and 60s of light curing, and the amount of linear polymerization shrinkage was compared by one way ANOVA with Tukey. The amount of polymerization shrinkage at 10s was XL3000 > Ultralume 2, 40, 60 > FreeLight, D1 (P<0.05) The amount of polymerization shrinkage at 60s was XL3000 > Ultralume 2, 60 > Ultralume 2, 40 > FreeLight, D1 (P<0.05) The microhardness on the upper and lower surface was as follows; <본문 참조> It was concluded that the LEDs produced lower polymerization shrinkage in 10s and 60s compared with QTH unit. In addition, the microhardness of samples which had been cured with LEDs was lower on the lower surfaces than the upper surfaces whereas there was no difference in QTH cured samples.
Response of Resistance Gene to Korean Bacterial Blight Races in IRBB Lines

Currently, more than 33 resistance gene against bacterial blight(BB) have been identified and used to develop resistant cultivar. IRRI developed near isogenic lines carrying monogenic resistance gene and pyramided genes, IRBB lines. This study was conducted to identify the response of resistance gene to Korean bacterial blight races(K1, K2, K3, and K3a) in IRBB lines. Xa1(IRBB1) was resistant to K1 race and Xa2(IRBB2) was resistant to K1 and K2 race. Xa3(IRBB3 and IRBB203) exploited in many breeding programs in Korea were resistant to K1, K2, and K3 race but susceptible to K3a. Xa4(IRBB4 and IRBB204), xa5(IRBB5 and IRBB205), Xa7(IRBB7 and IRBB207) were resistant to four races. xa8(IRRR8) and Xa11(IRBB11 and IRBB211) showed same reaction of Xa2, resistant to K1 and K2. Xa10(IRBB10 and IRBB210), xa13(IRBB13), Xa14(IRBB14 and IRBB214) showed same reaction of Xa1, resistant to K1. Xa21, identified from the wild rice, Oryza longistaminata, is highly resistant to a broad spectrum of Xoo races. In this study, Xa21 was resistant to K2, K3, and K3a but susceptible to K1 widely spreading in Korea. So, Xa21 may be vulnerable to Korean bacterial blight. But pyramided lines with Xa21 showed high level of resistance to all races of Korea. Pyramided lines with Xa4 which conferred durable resistance in many commercial rice cultivar, xa5 which provides recessive resistance, and other resistance genes showed high level of resistance to Korean bacterial blight races.

<P>Carvone is one of the naturally occurring monoterpenes, the largest class of secondary metabolites in plants, and exists in two enantiomers, R-carvone (R-car) and S-car. The objective of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of R-car and S-car with gentamicin (GET) against methicillin-resistant <I>Staphylococcus aureus</I> (MRSA). MRSA is a major human pathogen that causes serious problems, including hospital-acquired pneumonia, abscesses and surgical wound infections. Nosocomial MRSA infections often exhibit multidrug resistance. In the present study, antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed with R-car, S-car and GET using the broth microdilution method. Minimal inhibitory concentration values for R- and S-car against six different strains of <I>S. aureus</I> ranged between 500 and 1,000 μg/ml. Anti-MRSA activity was evaluated using the checkerboard and time-kill assays to investigate the potential synergistic effects of different combinations of the carvone enantiomers and GET. R-car plus S-car, R-car plus GET and S-car plus GET exhibited significant synergistic activity against MRSA. These findings suggest that the single-agent anti-MRSA activities of R-car, S-car and GET are effectively increased through combination therapy. This study showed that carvone may be a potential adjuvant antimicrobial agent.</P>

Japonica rice cultivars exhibit high susceptibility to bacterial blight(BB) disease due to genetic vulnerability in Korea. Korean japonica resistant rice cultivars mainly possess one of the genes, Xa1 or Xa3 for BB resistance. These resistance genes are becoming susceptible to K3a, resulting in serious rice yield reduction. This study was carried out to confirm the effect of xa13 gene pyramiding for developing of japonica rice cultivars resistant to BB pathogen breaking down Xa1 or Xa3. IRBB4 conferring Xa4 gene was resistant to K1(HB01013), K2(HB01014), K3(HB01015), and moderately resistant to K3a(HB01009). IRBB5 having xa5 gene was resistant to K1, K2, K3, and K3a. The recessive gene xa13 was resistant to K1 race but susceptible to K2, K3, and K3a. But Xa21 gene is susceptible to predominant K1 race but resistant to other races such as K2, K3, and K3a. Two genes Xa3 and xa13 were susceptible and Xa4 gene was moderate resistant to 24 isolates. xa5 and Xa21 genes were resistant to all isolates including K3a. When xa13 gene combined Xa4, xa5 and Xa21 genes, effect of xa13 gene pyramiding showed higher resistant reaction than that having singe gene out of Xa4, xa5, and Xa21. The order of resistance against 24 isolates breaking down Xa3 gene was IRBB55(xa13+Xa21) > IRBB53 (xa5+xa13) > IRBB51 (Xa4+xa13).
