Thiadiazole Derivatives as Potential Anticonvulsant Agents

Mullick, Pooja,Khan, Suroor A.,Verma, Surajpal,Alam, Ozair Korean Chemical Society 2011 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.32 No.3

A series of thiadiazole derivatives were synthesized with differently substituted benzoic acids which were cyclized to give differently substituted thiazolidin-4-one. Elemental analysis, IR, $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR and mass spectral data confirmed the structure of the synthesized compounds. The derivatives of these moieties were evaluated for anticonvulsant activity by MES model and neurotoxicity by rotarod method. The synthesized compounds showed good potential for anticonvulsant activity besides this, the compounds also showed neurotoxic effect. It was observed that compounds with $OCH_3$ at 3, 4 position of phenyl ring [5(a-l)] showed less protection against convulsions as compared to compounds having unsubstituted phenyl ring [4(a-l)].

Factors for Shopping Malls to be Successful in Delhi Ncr (India)

Mullick, N.H. KNU The Institute of Management Economy Research 2013 Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Vol.4 No.1

Today a consumer is confused and he looks only for values in relation to the prices spent by him/her in the buying process. He/She relates value in terms product pricing, brand value, his experiences etc. This therefore gives a vast scope for organized retailing that can make products available as per the aspirations of the consumer. For these organized retailers, Shopping Malls are acting as a catalyst and helping them to enhance their growth all over the country. They are providing them the required infrastructure and also helping them to achieve a faster growth. The present study is therefore done visualizing the opportunities available in the Indian market and the issues faced by the mushrooming of Malls in Indian metropolitan cities making their survival difficult due to cut-throat competition. This is also resulting in poor occupation and is not able to find neither the right rentals nor the footfalls.

Comparison of priming versus slow injection for reducing etomidateinduced myoclonus: a randomized controlled study

        Parul Mullick,Vandana Talwar,Shipra Aggarwal,Smita Prakash,Mridula Pawar 대한마취통증의학회 2018 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.71 No.4

Background: Etomidate injection is often associated with myoclonus. Etomidate injection technique influences the incidence of myoclonus. This study was designed to clarify which of the two injection techniques—slow injection or priming with etomidate—is more effective in reducing myoclonus. Methods: This prospective randomized controlled study was conducted on 189 surgical patients allocated to three study groups. Control group (Group C, n = 63) received 0.3 mg/kg etomidate (induction dose) over 20 s. Priming group (Group P, n = 63) received pretreatment with 0.03 mg/kg etomidate, followed after 1 min by an etomidate induction dose over 20 s. Slow injection group (Group S, n = 63) received etomidate (2 mg/ml) induction dose over 2 min. The patients were observed for occurrence and severity of myoclonus for 3 min from the start of injection of the induction dose. Results: The incidence of myoclonus in Group P (38/63 [60.3%], 95% CI: 48.0–71.5) was significantly lower than in Group C (53/63 [84.1%], 95% CI: 72.9–91.3, P = 0.003) and Group S (49/63 [77.8%], 95% CI: 66.0–86.4, P = 0.034). Myoclonus of moderate or severe grade occurred in significantly more patients in Group C (68.3%) than in Group P (36.5%, P < 0.001) and Group S (50.8%, P = 0.046), but the difference between Groups P and S was not significant (P = 0.106). Conclusions: Priming is more effective than slow injection in reducing the incidence of myoclonus, but their effects on the severity of myoclonus are comparable.

        Ultrasound-guided drug delivery in cancer

        Sayan Mullick Chowdhury,이태화,Jürgen K. Willmann 대한초음파의학회 2017 ULTRASONOGRAPHY Vol.36 No.3

Recent advancements in ultrasound and microbubble (USMB) mediated drug delivery technology has shown that this approach can improve spatially confined delivery of drugs and genes to target tissues while reducing systemic dose and toxicity. The mechanism behind enhanced delivery of therapeutics is sonoporation, the formation of openings in the vasculature, induced by ultrasound-triggered oscillations and destruction of microbubbles. In this review, progress and challenges of USMB mediated drug delivery are summarized, with special focus on cancer therapy.

      • Analysis and structural design of various turbine blades under variable conditions: A review

        Saif, Mohd,Mullick, Parth,Imam, Ashhad Techno-Press 2019 Advances in materials research Vol.8 No.1

This paper presents a review study for energy-efficient gas turbines (GTs) with cycles which contributes significantly towards sustainable usage. Nonetheless, these progressive engines, operative at turbine inlet temperatures as high as $1600^{\circ}C$, require the employment of highly creep resistant materials for use in hotter section components of gas turbines like combustion chamber and blades. However, the gas turbine obtain its driving power by utilizing the energy of treated gases and air which is at piercing temperature and pushing by expanding through the several rings of steady and vibratory blades. Since the turbine blades works at very high temperature and pressure, high stress concentration are observed on the blades. With the increasing demand of service, to provide adequate efficiency and power within the optimized level, turbine blades are to be made of those materials which can withstand high thermal and working load condition for longer cycle time. This paper depicts the recent developments in the field of implementing the best suited materials for the GTs, selection of proper Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC), fracture analysis and experiments on failed or used turbine blades and several other designing and operating factors which are effecting the blade life and efficiency. It is revealed that Nickel based Superalloys were promising, Cast Iron with Zirconium and Pt-Al coatings are used as best TBC material, material defects are the foremost and prominent reason for blade failure.

      • A switched parameter differential evolution with optional blending crossover for scalable numerical optimization

        Ghosh, Arka,Das, Swagatam,Mullick, Sankha Subhra,Mallipeddi, Rammohan,Das, Asit K. Elsevier 2017 Applied soft computing Vol.57 No.-

<P>Differential Evolution (DE) is currently one of the most competitive Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) for optimization problems involving continuous parameters. This article presents three very simple modifications to the basic DE scheme such that its performance can be improved and made scalable for optimizing functions having a real-valued moderate-to-high number of variables (dimensions) while focusing on preservation of the simplicity offered by its algorithmic framework. Contrary to the common policies of coupling a complicated scheme for adaptation of the control parameters or introducing additional local search algorithms, we present here a (population member and generation specific) control parameter choosing strategy which uniformly and randomly switches the values of the mutational scale factor and crossover rate between two extremities of their feasible ranges. Furthermore, each population member is mutated either by using the DE/rand/1 scheme or a proposed version of the DE/current-to-best scheme. The mutation scheme for a population member is chosen based on its performance in the current generation. Hence if a mutation strategy successfully replaces a target vector by the corresponding trial vector, then it is reused by the population member of the same index in the following generation, else a switch of mutation method is executed. In the crossover phase, each member undergoes either the common binomial crossover or the BLX-alpha-beta crossover modified for applying in DE, with equal probabilities. Our experiments using the benchmark optimization functions proposed for the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) 2013 competition on real parameter optimization and CEC 2010 competition on large-scale global optimization demonstrate that the basic DE optimizer when coupled with these elementary alterations and/or schemes can indeed provide a very competitive result against some of the most prominent state-of-the-art algorithms.
