      • Discrimination and bifurcation analysis of tumor immune interaction in fractional form

        Taj, Muhammad,Khadimallah, Mohamed A.,Hussain, Muzamal,Rashid, Yahya,Ishaque, Waqas,Mahmoud, S.R.,Din, Qamar,Alwabli, Afaf S.,Tounsi, Abdelouahed Techno-Press 2021 Advances in nano research Vol.10 No.4

A tumor immune interaction is a main topic of interest in the last couple of decades because majority of human population suffered by tumor, formed by the abnormal growth of cells and is continuously interacted with the immune system. Because of its wide range of applications, many researchers have modeled this tumor immune interaction in the form of ordinary, delay and fractional order differential equations as the majority of biological models have a long range temporal memory. So in the present work, tumor immune interaction in fractional form provides an excellent tool for the description of memory and hereditary properties of inter and intra cells. So the interaction between effector-cells, tumor cells and interleukin-2 (IL-2) are modeled by using the definition of Caputo fractional order derivative that provides the system with long-time memory and gives extra degree of freedom. Moreover, in order to achieve more efficient computational results of fractional-order system, a discretization process is performed to obtain its discrete counterpart. Furthermore, existence and local stability of fixed points are investigated for discrete model. Moreover, it is proved that two types of bifurcations such as Neimark-Sacker and flip bifurcations are studied. Finally, numerical examples are presented to support our analytical results.

      • Instability analysis of microfilaments with and without surface effects using Euler theory

        Taj, Muhammad,Khadimallah, Mohamed A.,Hussain, Muzamal,Mahmood, Shaid,Safeer, Muhammad,Rashid, Yahya,Ahmad, Manzoor,Naeem, M. Nawaz,Asghar, Sehar,Ponnore, Joffin,Al Qahtani, Abdelaziz,Mahmoud, S.R.,Al Techno-Press 2021 Advances in nano research Vol.10 No.6

The study of cell components has been an active area of research since the last few decades. Cytoskeleton of the cell which gives shape and provides structure to the cell has three main components, microtubules, microfilaments and intermediate filaments. Each of the cytoskeletal components is surrounded by various filamentous or the other cytoskeletal components act as a surface layer on these filaments. The stability of these components affected when cell perform various functions in the body and as a result these filaments buckle, vibrate and bend. In the present study the buckling behavior of microfilament is discussed with the effects of surface by using Euler Bernoulli beam theory and the obtained results for free and surrounded microfilament are shown in the tables and figures.

Effects of monoculture and polyculture farming in oil palmsmallholdings on terrestrial arthropod diversity

        Amal Ghazali,Siti Asmah,Muhammad Syafiq,Muhammad S. Yahya,Najjib Aziz,TanLi Peng,Ahmad R. Norhisham,Chong Leong Puan,Edgar C. Turner,Badrul Azhar 한국응용곤충학회 2016 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.19 No.2

Oil palmagriculture has become one of the economic mainstays for biodiversity-rich countries in the tropics. The conversion of native forests to oil palm monoculture plantation has caused unprecedented biodiversity loss in Southeast Asia. Little is known about the effects of oil palm polyculture farming on arthropod diversity. In this study, arthropodswere sampled using pitfall traps at 120 sites in Peninsular Malaysia. We examined howarthropod biodiversity responded to different oil palmfarming practices and local-scale vegetation structure characteristics. We found that the number of arthropod orders was significantly greater in polyculture than monoculture smallholdings. However, we did not detect a significant difference in arthropod order composition nor abundance between monoculture and polyculture practices. In situ habitat characteristics explained 16% of the variation in arthropod order richness, with key predictor variables including farming practice, height of oil palm stands, and number of immature palm. The findings of this study suggest that polyculture farming together with management for in situ habitat complexity may be a useful strategy in supporting biodiversity within in oil palm plantations.

Effectiveness of sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers to assess the geographical origin and genetic diversity of collected lentil genotypes

        Mohammed Nabil A.,Afzal Muhammad,Al-Faifi Sulieman A.,Khan Muhammad A.,Refay Yahya A.,AL-Samin Bazel H.,Alghamdi Salem S.,Ibrahim Abdullah 한국식물생명공학회 2023 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.17 No.4

Lentil is an important annual food legume crop, nitrogen fixer and provides a substantial amount of protein, carbohydrate, minerals, and vitamin content. The use of molecular markers to assess genetic diversity is crucial for crop improvement, efficient management, and conservation of plant genetic resources. The current study aimed to determine the genetic diversity among lentil genotypes using sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers. Therefore, we evaluated a collection of 36 lentil genotypes, including 20 from Yemen, Saudi Arabia (7), Egypt (4), and Bangladesh (3), and (2) genotypes from the International Center for Research in Dry Area (ICARDA) using 21 SRAP primer combinations. The amplified fragments showed a high level of useful polymorphic amplified fragments (775 out of 782) indicating a higher degree of variation. The polymorphic information content (PIC) ranged from 0.31 to 0.39 with an average of 0.33 for each primer. The UPGMA trees, based on Jaccard similarity index matrices, separated the genotypes into four main clusters according to their geographical origin. The population structure supported the major groups and attested to their great degree of differentiation. The highest lentil population was found at K = 3, K = 5, and K = 7 levels, showing purity and admixture ancestry among the lentil population. This study highlighted the wide genetic diversity among the studied lentil genotypes and demonstrated the effectiveness of the SRAP technique in determining the genetic variability of lentil. Furthermore, it could be used to establish the genetic peculiarity of ecotypes when applying for the obtainment of origin and agro-morphological characteristics.

Design of Compact Parallel-Connected Chained Function Filters

        Chinda Francis E.,Seoung Socheatra,Cheab Sovuthy,Yahya Muhammad S.,Hawari Huzein F. 한국전자파학회 2023 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.23 No.3

The design of compact parallel-connected chained function filters is presented in this paper. The proposed filters will offer reduced sensitivity to manufacturing tolerance within the specified bandwidth in comparison to conventional Chebyshev filters for C-band applications. A new filtering function according to a chained configuration is derived for fourth-order filters, and the synthesis procedures are presented. To demonstrate the feasibility of this approach, the circuit simulation based on parallel-connected topology is performed in an advanced design system, while the design and simulation of a fourth-order filter in dielectric technology are carried out in high-frequency simulation software. The prototype of fourth-order microstrip topology is fabricated using open-loop resonators. The overall circuit size of the filter is 2.5 cm × 4 cm. The achieved simulation and measured insertion/return loss are 0.409 dB/20 dB and 2.674 dB/18.074 dB, respectively. Extensive sensitivity analysis is conducted to prove the fabrication tolerance of the filter. The reduced sensitivity of the proposed filter to manufacturing tolerance is fully demonstrated using an open-loop microstrip technology, and its reliability is proven by theoretical analysis. The prototype results in this research are validated and agree with the theoretical results. In terms of implementation, this design technique will be a very useful mathematical tool for any filter design engineer.
