        The space group number 15 can be expressed in six different ways as C2/c, A2/a, A2/n, C2/n, I2/a, and I2/c according to the setting of unit cell axes. The International Union of Crystallography has chosen C2/c for a standard space group of the space group number 15. In this paper, it has been shown that the six space groups are mutually transformed.

      • Pisolithus tinctorius菌에 의해 형성된 소나무류 外生菌根의 形態的 比較

        Pisolithus tinctorius菌을 곰솔(Pinus thunbergii), 소나무(P. densifora), 리기다소나무(P. rigida), 테에다소나무(P. taeda), 리기테다소나무(P. rigitaeda), 버지니아소나무(P. virginiana)에 人工接種하여 수종간 균근의 發達, 菌根型의 特異性, 外部形態的 特徵을 調査하였다. P. tinctorius菌이 接種된 소나무류의 菌根型은 線型(linear type), 頂端型(apical type), 棍棒型(clavate type), 塊根型(nodular type), 二次分枝型(dichotomy type), 念珠型(bead type), 長二次分枝型(long dichotomy type), 不均衡 二次分枝型(unbalanced dichotomy type), 二重二次分枝型(double dichotomy type), 不均衡二重二次分枝型(unbalanced double dichotomy type), 不均衡半二重二次分枝型(unbalanced semi-double dichotomy type), 珊瑚型(coralloid type)으로 識別되었다. 곰솔, 리기테다소나무의 均套표면은 노란색 Felt 형의 뚜렷한 菌套를 형성하였다. 그러나 리기다소나무, 소나무, 테다소나무, 버지니아소나무의 菌套表面은 부착 菌絲의 형성이 전혀 없는 매끄럽고 윤기있어 보이는 황갈색 velvety형 均套를 나타냈다. 소나무, 리기다소나무, 테다소나무, 버지니아소나무는 線型, 頂端型, 二次分枝型, 念珠型, 長二次分枝型들과 같은 단순한 형태들이 주로 나타났지만, 곰솔과 리기테다소나무는 二次分枝型, 變形들인 長二次分枝型, 不均衡二次分枝型, 二重二次分枝型, 不均衡二重二次分枝型, 不均衡半二重二次分枝型들이 많이 나타났고 안정형인 珊瑚型으로 發達하였다. The morphological characteristics of ectomycorrhizae in the seedlings of 6 different pines(Pinus. thunbergii, P. densiflora, P. rigida, P. teada, P. rigiteada and P. virginiana), inoculated with ectomycorrhizal fungi, Pisolithus tinctorius(Pers.) Coker & Couch, were analyzed. The types of ectomycorrhizal short roots among 6 pines could be categorized into 12 types; linear, apical, clavate, nodular, dichotomy, bead, long dichotomy, unbalanced dichotomy, double dichotomy, unbalanced double dichotomy, unbalanced semi-double dichotomy, and coralloid types. Whereas the sheaths of seedlings of P. thunbergii and P. rigiteada were covered with a mycellium bed of light yellowish white, those of the other pines were covered with the smooth and blight bed of yellowish brown without attached mycellium. The five major types(i.e, linear, apical, dichotomy, bead, and long dichotomy types) of the 12 types classified in this study were for P.densiflora, P.rigida,P.teada,and P.virginiana,respectively. However, P. thunbergii, and P. rigiteada of long dichotomy, unbalanced dichotomy, double dichotomy, unbalanced double dichotomy, and unbalanced semi-double dichotomy types were the major types, which were developed into a stable type such as coralloid type.

      • Gastric Calcifying Fibrous Tumor : A Rare Cause of Gastric Subepithelial Lesion

        석회화 섬유종양은 원인 미상의 흔하지 않은 양성 중앙이다. 이 종양은 복강이나 복막에서 기원하는 경우가 많으나 위에서 기원한 석회화 섬유종양은 매우 드물 다. 건강검진시 위내시경에서 우연히 발견된 위 점막하 종양 평가를 위해 28세 여성이 본원으로 전원되었다. 본원에서 시행한 위 내시경에서 위 중간체부에 1.2cm의 평탄한 표면의 위 점막하 종양이 관찰되었다. 초음파 내시경을 시행하였고 점막하층에 위치한 불균질한 저에코성의 병변과 함께 종양 내부에는 음향 음영을 동반한 다수의 고 에코성의 부위가 관찰되었다. 위 점막하 중앙은 악성종양을 완전히 배제할 수 없기 때문에 내시경적 점막하 절제술을 시행하였다. 조직 검사결과 종양은 석회화률 동반하는 호산구성 콜라겐 섬유가 풍부한 위 석회화 섬유 종양으로 진단되었다. 이에 위 점막하 중앙에 관한 다른 문헌을 고찰하면서 본 증례를 보고하는 바이다.

      • 韓國型 Turnip Mosaic Virus의 純化

        Chinese cabbage(Brassica campestris subsp pekinensis) useful for making a traditional Korean food, Kimchi, has been considered as the most important vegetable in Korea. In order to supply large quantity of chinese cabbage to the consumer, the mass cultivation is demanded. However, the mass production has been faced to serious problem due to fungal, bacterial and/or viral infections. It has been reported that the viral infections are the worst phatogeruc causes in a number of plants. In the chinese cabbage, turnip mosaic virus(TuMV) is the most serious pathogen. Five different strains of TuMV(Cl, C2, C3, C4, and C5) were identified in the world. We are reporting two strains(C4, C5) purified from Brassica nigra. They are all filamentous on electron micrographs. The TuMV C4 is about 1,300nm long, whereas the C5 is about 1,200nm long in average. They are larger than those reported previously(680-900nm). They will be used to produce monoclonal antibodies against the TuMV coat proteins. The antibodies arc required to develop a sensitive and specific screening methods for the TuMV infected plants.

      • 제주연안 갯녹음(백화) 지역의 해수에 분포하는 세균군의 분자생물학적 분석

        본 연구에서는 갯녹음(백화)현상이 세균생태계와 어떤 관련이 있는지에 대한 기초자료 및 정보를 얻기 위하여 갯녹음 현상이 일어난 제주도 성산과 강정지역 연안의 해수에 존재하는 세균군을 16S rRNA 증폭기법을 이용하여 조사하였다. 강정지역에서는 Alcanivorax, Paracoccus, Damselae, Pseudomonas, Rhodovulum, Silicibacter, Sulfitobacter, Roseobacter 등 다양한 종류의 세균이 분포되어 있었으며, Alcanivorax가 20%의 빈도로 가장 많이 나타났다. 반면, 성산 지역에서는 Pseudomonas속 균주가 우점종으로서 존재하였으며, Pseudomonas tolaasii(혹은 Pseudomonas corrugata)와 유연관계가 가까운 세균은 44%, Pseudomonas mandeli와 가까운 세균이 24%, Verrucomicrobiales와 가까운 세균은 4%, 기타 동정되지 않은 세균은 세 group으로 구분되었으며, 각각 8%, 8%, 12%를 차지하여, 두 곳에 분포되어 있는 세균군상이 상당한 차이점이 있음을 확인하였다. 갯녹음 지역인 강정과 성산 해수의 8월(표품 채집시기)의 수온은 27℃-27.5℃, 염분의 농도는 30.24-30.60%, pH는 8.23-8.36, 용존산소량(DO)은 각각 7.20-7.28로, 두 지역에서 매우 비슷한 것으로 조사된 바 있는데, 이는 수온이나 염분의 농도, 또는 pH보다는 다른 원인에 의하여 두 갯녹음 지역에 분포하는 세균군의 차이를 가져왔음을 제시해 주었다. In this study, the bacterial communities distributed in sea water of the whitening areas of Gangjeong and Seongsan, Jeju-do have been analyzed using the PCR amplification of 16S rRNA to obtain fundamental data and information on relationship of the whitening phenomenon and microbial ecosystem. In Gangjeong, diverse bacteria such as Alcanivorax, Paracoccus, Damselae, Pseudomonas, Rhodovulum, Silicibacier, Sulfitobacter, and Roseobacier have been found, and Alcanivorax was the most abundant clone. The most abundant clone from Seongsan was Pseudoinonas, of which Pseudomonastolaasii and Pseudonionas mandeli were most abundantly occurred in the frequency of approx 44% and 24%, respectively. Approx 4% of the bacterial clones closest to firruconiicrobiales and other unidentified clones were also found in Seongsan, suggesting there is a great discrepancy between bacterial communities from the whitening areas of Seongsan and Gangjeong. The mean tem- perature, chlorine concentration, pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO) of the sea water of Gangjeong and Seongsan in August of 2001 (sampling period) was 27℃-27.5℃, 30.24-30.60%, pH 8.23-8.36,7.20-7.28 ㎎/ℓ, suggesting other environmental factors except for the factors mentioned above might result in difference of bacterial communities distributed in both areas.

      • 수술로 호전되지 않은 췌장 농양을 내시경 치료로 완치한 1 예

        Necrotizing pancreatitis develops in about 10-20% of patients with acute pancreatitis, and pancreatic abscesses develop in 3% of them. The mortality of pancreatic abscess has been reported up to 40% in one study. Recently, there are several reports that show good results with n on-surgical therapy, such as percutaneous drainage and endoscopic drainage, but if the non-surgical drainage fails, surgical therapy are recommended. However, there is no definite therapeutic method which is suggested yet so far after the failure of the surgical drainage. So we report the case in which we experienced successful treatment of pancreatic abscess by endoscopic removal of necrotic tissue through the gastrocystostomy, after the failure of the surgical debridement and internal drainage through gastrocystostomy.

        The structure of sodium trans-bis(methyliminodiacetato) chromate(Ⅲ), C_10H_14O_8N_2CrNa, has been elucidated with two space groups P 1-; a=8.9856(6), b=13.308(1), c=6.261(1)Å, α=76.38(1), β=110.361(9), r=107.394(6)˚, V=662(2)Å^3, Z=2, μ=0.47mn^(-1), d=1.831Mg/㎥, R=0.0295 for 1901 independent reflections with F^2>2σ(F^2), and A2/n; a=13.65(5), b=6.261(1), c=16.85(6)Å, β=113.05(1)˚, V=1324(7)Å^3, Z=4, R=0.0287 for 1013 independent reflections with F^2>2σ(F^2). There are two different asymmetric half molecules in triclinic system and one asymmetric half molecule in monoclinic system. The structures of three different molecules are very similar in conformations. The four carboxyl O atoms and the two imino N atoms in each molecule produce a distorted octahedral coordination geometry around the Cr atom. The average distances of Cr-O(carboxyl) and Cr-N(imino) are 1.956 and 2.061Å respectively. Molecules are held together by ionic forces. In this paper, it has been also shown that the cell constants, Miller indices, atomic coordinates, lattice directions and reciprocal lattices of the two space groups can be mutually transformed.

        The phase angles for certain reflections in 159 noncentric space groups are shown to be either 0 or π for certain conditions just like those in centric space groups. Those special reflections might offer an important clue for crystal structure analyses.

        Neuroprotective Effect of L-Theanine on Aβ-Induced Neurotoxicity through Anti-Oxidative Mechanisms in SK-N-SH and SK-N-MC Cells

        Amyloid beta (Aβ)-induced neurotoxicity is a major pathological mechanism of Alzheimer`s disease (AD). In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of L-theanine, a component of green tea (Camellia sinensis) on Aβ1-42-induced neurotoxicity and oxidative damages of macromolecules. L-theanine inhibited Aβ1-42-induced generation of reactive oxygen species, and activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase and p38 mitogenic activated protein kinase as well as the activity of nuclear factor kappa- B. L-theanine also significantly reduced oxidative protein and lipid damage, and elevated glutathione level. Consistent with the reduced neurotoxic signals, L-theanine (10-50 μg/ml) concomitantly attenuated Aβ1-42 (5 μM)-induced neurotoxicity in SK-N-MC and SK-N-SH human neuroblastoma cells. These data indicate that L-theanine on Aβ-induced neurotoxicity prevented oxidative damages of neuronal cells, and may be useful in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative disease like AD.

        The Impact of Different Types of Complications on Long-Term Survival After Total Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer

        Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the impact of different types of complications on long-term survival following total gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: A total of 926 patients who underwent total gastrectomy between 2008 and 2016 were included. Patients were divided into the morbidity and no-morbidity groups, and long-term survival was compared between the 2 groups. The prognostic impact of postoperative morbidity was assessed using a multivariate Cox proportional hazard model, which accounted for other prognostic factors. In the multivariate model, the effects of each complication on survival were analyzed. Results: A total of 229 patients (24.7%) developed postoperative complications. Patients with postoperative morbidity showed significantly worse overall survival (OS) (5-year, 65.0% vs. 76.7%, P<0.001) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) (5-year, 74.2% vs. 83.1%, P=0.002) compared to those without morbidity. Multivariate analysis adjusting for other prognostic factors showed that postoperative morbidity remained an independent prognostic factor for OS (hazard ratio [HR], 1.442; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.136–1.831) and CSS (HR, 1.463; 95% CI, 1.063–2.013). There was no significant difference in survival according to the severity of complications. The following complications showed a significant association with unfavorable long-term survival: ascites (HR, 1.868 for OS, HR, 2.052 for CSS), wound complications (HR, 2.653 for OS, HR, 2.847 for CSS), and pulmonary complications (HR, 2.031 for OS, HR, 1.915 for CSS). Conclusions: Postoperative morbidity adversely impacted survival following total gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Among the different types of complications, ascites, wound complications, and pulmonary complications exhibited significant associations with long-term survival.
