Improved Variable Structure Proportional–Integral Controller for TCP/ AQM Network Systems

This study proposes the design of a new variable structure proportional-integral (VSPI) controller, which combines the advantages of a proportional-integral (PI) controller with the more fl exible variable structure (VS) controller for transmission control protocol (TCP) router-based active queue management (AQM) network systems. The objective of the proposed controller is to improve the performance of routers by reducing packet loss and queuing delay and increasing throughput. The performance of the VSPI controller is verifi ed and compared with the PI controller using Network Simulator 2 (NS–2). The results demonstrate that the proposed controller is stable and robust under various scenarios and is a suitable design approach for TCP/AQM network systems. Moreover, the VSPI controller is fl exible and easy to use owing to the trade-off between stability and performance of the AQM control system.
Modeling the Effect of Temperature on the Nanotube Field Effect Transistors Using Neural Network

In this article, we modelled and simulated Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistors (CNTFET); this transistor has a carbon nanotube channel. An Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) model was developed to reproduce accurately the behavior of CNTFET to predict its response for a wide range of temperature and voltage with focusing on the experimental data. The neural model is tested and validated; hence the ANN model is able to predict the CNTFET behavior with good accuracy. Finally, the proposed ANN model is integrated as a component in the library of simulation software of PSPICE electronic components.
Rotor Failures Diagnosis of Squirrel Cage Induction Motors with Different Supplying Sources

The growing application and the numerous qualities of induction motors (1M) in industrial processes that require high security and reliability levels has led to the development of multiple methods for early fault detection. However, various faults can occur, such as stator short-circuits and rotor failures. Traditionally the diagnosis machine is done through a sinusoidal power supply, in the present paper we study experimentally the effects of the rotor failures, such as broken rotor bars in function of the ac supplying, the load and show the impact of the converter from diagnosis of the machine. The technique diagnosis used is based on the spectral analysis of stator currents or stator voltages respectively according to the types of induction motor ac supplying. So, four different ac supplying are considered: ${\odot}$ the IM is directly by the balanced three-phase network voltage source, ${\odot}$ the IM is fed by a sinusoidal current source given the controlled by hysteresis, ${\odot}$ the IM is fed (in open loop) by a scalar control imposing through ratio V/f=constant, ${\odot}$ the IM is controlled through a vector control using space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique inverter with an outer speed loop.
