Document Classification Using N-gram and Word Semantic Similarity

This paper mainly conducted two series of experiments. One is investigation between language dependent and language independent features. Bi-grams in Korean experiments and uni-grams in Chinese contributed most as basic features. And another one is utilization of Korean WordNet to improve the performance of Korean document classification. Korean WordNet is a Korean Lexical Semantic Network. Language independent features seem can lead better performance and stable. The performance of Korean text classification was improved by using Korean WordNet.
On statistical approximation properties of modified q-Bernstein-Schurer Operators

In this paper, a kind of modified q-Bernstein-Schurer operators is introduced. The Korovkin type statistical approximation property of these operators is investigated. Then the rates of statistical convergence of these operators are also studied by means of modulus of continuity and the help of functions of the Lipschitz class. Furthermore, a Voronovskaja type result for these operators is given.

본 논문에서는 한국어와 중국어의 언어학적인 특징을 고려하여 문서 자동분류 시스템의 성능을 높일 수 있는 최적의 자질어 단위를 제안한다. 언어 종속적 단위인 형태소 자질어와 언어 독립적 단위인 n-gram 자질어 그리고 이들을 조합한 복합 자질어 집합을 대상으로 각 언어의 인터넷 신문기사를 SVM으로 분류하는 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과, 한국어 문서분류에서는 bi-gram이 F1-measure 87.07%로 가장 좋은 분류 성능을 보였고, 중국어 문서분류에서는 ‘uni-gram?명사 · 동사 · 형용사 · 사자성어’의 복합 자질어 집합이 F1-measure 82.79%로 가장 좋은 성능을 보였다. This paper proposed the optimal attributes for text classification based on Korean and Chinese linguistic features. The experiments committed to discover which is the best feature among n-grams which is known as language independent, morphemes that have language dependency and some other feature sets consisted with n-grams and morphemes showed best results. This paper used SVM classifier and Internet news for text classification. As a result, bi-gram was the best feature in Korean text categorization with the highest F1-Measure of 87.07%, and for Chinese document classification, ‘uni-gram+noun+verb+adjective+idiom’, which is the combined feature set, showed the best performance with the highest F1-Measure of 82.79%.
Automatic Recognition of Emotion based on a Cognitively Motivated Emotion Annotation System

Emotion recognition is very important for the extraction of expressive information. In this paper, we provide a robust and versatile emotion annotation scheme that can not only annotate explicit and implicit expressions of emotion, but also can encode different levels of information for a given emotion content. In addition, taking cognitive psychologists` theories into account, large and comparatively high-quality emotion corpora are automatically created to allow for emotion recognition in Chinese and English. Our annotation scheme can easily be adapted for different kinds of applications dealing with emotion, and, being generic, can also be applied to other languages, We also discuss the two kinds of emotion representations used in our corpus, namely, holistic and componential representations, We find that the two representations have their own qualities and shortcomings and that choosing between them ultimately depends mainly on the application type.

The pace of globalization has been accelerated along with the surge in free trade agreements (FTA) among various nations. Facing the emergence of global value chains, companies need to integrate the flows of manufacturing goods and international trades more dynamically with other participants in the entire supply chain. The increasing growth of international transportation requires the third party logistics to provide delivery services more timely and efficiently. This case study describes how a third-party logistics company tried to develop new value-added services utilizing the free trade zone (FTZ) in Taiwan with its customer by simplifying associated shipping processes from manufacturing to retailing across multiple locations.

Sugarcane bacilliform viruses (SCBV), which belong to the genus Badnavirus, family Caulimoviridae, are an important DNA virus complex that infects sugarcane. To explore the genetic diversity of the sugarcane-infecting badnavirus complex in China, we tested 392 sugarcane leaf samples collected from Fujian, Yunnan, and Hainan provinces for the occurrence of SCBV by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays using published primers SCBV-F and SCBV-R that target the reverse transcriptase/ribonuclease H (RT/RNase H) regions of the viral genome. A total of 111 PCR-amplified fragments (726 bp) from 63 SCBV-positive samples were cloned and sequenced. A neighbor-joining phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the SCBV sequences from this study and 34 published sequences representing 18 different phylogroups or genotypes (SCBV-A to -R). All SCBV-tested isolates could be classified into 20 SCBV phylogenetic groups from SCBV-A to -T. Of nine SCBV phylogroups reported in this study, two novel phylogroups, SCBV-S and SCBV-T, that share 90.0-93.2% sequence identity and show 0.07-0.11 genetic distance with each other in the RT/RNase H region, are proposed. SCBV-S had 57.6-92.2% sequence identity and 0.09-0.66 genetic distance, while SCBV-T had 58.4-90.0% sequence identity and 0.11-0.63 genetic distance compared with the published SCBV phylogroups. Additionally, two other Badnavirus species, Sugarcane bacilliform MO virus (SCBMOV) and Sugarcane bacilliform IM virus (SCBIMV), which originally clustered in phylogenetic groups SCBV-E and SCBV-F, respectively, are first reported in China. Our findings will help to understand the level of genetic heterogeneity present in the complex of Badnavirus species that infect sugarcane.

Aim: To investigate the expression of protein kinase $CK2{\alpha}$ ($CK2{\alpha}$) in human thyroid disease and its relationship with thyroid cancer metastasis. Materials and Methods: Using immunohistochemistry we measured the expression of $CK2{\alpha}$ in 76 benign and malignant human thyroid cancer tissues, including 10 pairs of papillary carcinoma tissues with or without lymph node cancerous metastasis and similarly 10 pairs of lymph nodes. Results: The expression of $CK2{\alpha}$ was found to be higher in thyroid carcinoma cases (papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, anaplastic carcinoma and medullary carcinoma) than in ones such as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, nodular goiter and adenoma. These findings were also confirmed by RT-PCR and Western blotting. More strikingly, elevated expression of $CK2{\alpha}$ in thyroid papillary carcinoma tissues was not only significantly associated with lymph node cancerous metastasis and clinical stage of thyroid cancers; but also correlated with epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and high tenascin C (TNC) expression. In addition, EMT and high TNC expression in thyroid carcinoma tissues was significantly associated with lymph node cancerous metastasis. Conclusions: Elevated expression of nuclear $CK2{\alpha}$ is a poor prognosis indicator in lymph node cancerous metastasis of human thyroid cancers.
