청소년의 우울증 수준에 있어서 문화적 차이와 일상 생활 활동 경험과의 관계

The goal of this study was to investigate how daily experiences of schoolwork and leisure activities explained cultural differences in levels of adolescent depression. A combined sample of 58 high school seniors in Korea and 62 high school seniors in the United States reported time use patterns and affect states in daily activities and levels of depression. The time use pattern in daily independent study during class hours and in active leisure activities significantly explained cultural differences in levels of depression. Affect states in all schoolwork activities and passive leisure activities also significantly explained cultural differences in levels of depression. These findings suggest that Korean adolescents` experience of `exam hell`, particularly the lack of active leisure activities and more negative emotional experiences of daily activities are partly responsible for their higher depression relative to American counterparts.

The goal of this study was to investigate how adolescents` daily experience of schoolwork and leisure activities relate to depression. A sample of 58 high school seniors reported the amount of time spent in daily activities and their affect states in these activities seven times a day for a week. To evaluate the relationship between daily life experience and depression Pearson correlation analysis was conducted. The significant zero order correlations were followed up by conducting partial correlation analyses using background variables as control variables. While the amount of time spent in schoolwork and leisure activities was not an important factor relating to depression, affect states in specific daily activities were related to levels of depression. In particular, affect states during schoolwork activities were related to depression; however, these states during leisure activities were unrelated to depression. These findings suggest that the everyday manifestation of adolescent depression was not prevalent across daily contexts, but was limited to a specific context.
중학생들의 폭력가해행동, 수준에 따른 일상적 대인맥락의 외현적, 내면적 경험 차이

The category of interpersonal contexts include contexts alone, with family members, with friends, with classmates, and with others. The external experiences of interpersonal contexts were indicated by the percentage of time spent during waking hours a day. The internal experiences of interpersonal contexts were indicated by psychological states in each context. Twenty hundred and seventy four students in three middle schools located in Seoul participated in this study. Among the 274 students, 45 students were selected and the ESM(Experience Sampling Method) was administrated. The 45 students reported their daily experiences of interpersonal context 7 times a day for a week, totaling 49 times. This study found that the high violent behavior group tended to spend more time in contexts which they could freely choose that the low violent behavior group did. The high violent behavior group boys reported more negative emotional states during the interpersonal context with classmates than during the other contexts and the high violent behavior group girls reported more negative emotional states during the context alone that during the other contexts. However, the low violent behavior group boys` and girls` negative emotional experiences did not differ across contexts. The findings suggest that daily experiences of interpersonla contexts can contribute to explaining the early adolescents` violent behaviors in micro systematic view. This study investigated the relationship of daily interpersonal context experiences violent behaviors among early adolescents.
청소년기 분노정서 경험의 발달과 자아존중감, 부모, 친구, 학업, 여가 맥락의 영향

This study investigated 1)gender and age differences in anger experiences of adolescents from 8th to 10th grades and 2)relationships of anger experiences with self-esteem, parent-, friend-, schoolwork-, and leisure-related variables. The panel data collected from 8th to 10th grades by National Youth Policy Institute were analyzed. Anger experiences include anger explosion and regulation. Findings are as follows: 1) girls` levels of anger explosion were higher than boys` from 8th to 9th grade, 2) the 9th grade boys` levels of anger explosion were higher than the 8th grade and their levels of anger regulation were lower than the 8th`, 3) the 10th grade girls` levels of anger explosion were lower than the previous grades. Finally, 4) boys` and girls` self-esteem, parent-, friend-, schoolwork-, and leisure-related variables were significantly related with levels of their anger explosion and regulation. The main variable which was related to both anger explosion and regulation for both boys and girls was self-esteem. Findings were discussed from the perspective of adolescent emotional adjustment.
