ZSM-5-$SO_3H$ efficiently catalyzed the one-pot three-component Mannich reaction of aldehydes, anilines, and ketones. ${\beta}$-Aminocarbonyl compounds were obtained in reasonable yields and excellent stereoselectivities when the reaction was carried out at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. Simple experimental conditions and product isolation procedure makes this protocol potential for the development of clean and environment-friendly strategy for the synthesis of ${\beta}$-amino-ketones. The catalyst was recovered and reused for subsequent runs.
Regularizing structural configurations by using meta-heuristic algorithms

This paper focuses on the regularization of structural configurations by employing meta-heuristic optimization algorithms such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Biogeography-Based Optimization (BBO). The regularization of structural configuration means obtaining a structure whose members have equal or almost equal lengths, or whose member's lengths are based on a specific pattern; which in this case, by changing the length of these elements and reducing the number of different profiles of needed members, the construction of the considered structure can be made easier. In this article, two different objective functions have been used to minimize the difference between member lengths with a specific pattern. It is found that by using a small number of iterations in these optimization methods, a structure made of equal-length members can be obtained.
A hybrid controller based on CPG and ZMP for biped locomotion

Biped locomotion has attracted much attention in recent years. The most successful implemented methods in this area are based on two approaches, central pattern generator (CPG) and zero moment point (ZMP). Unfortunately, neither of these concepts can solely solve the movement challenge completely. In this study, we introduce a hybrid controller to combine the advantages of these methods. The proposed controller is based on two major approaches, CPG and ZMP. This hybrid controller is composed of a trajectory control system and a trajectory generator system. The trajectory control system applied to keep the robot stable uses ZMP as a real time control feedback. The trajectory generator system, which is composed of nonlinear oscillators, generates stable motions. The parameters of CPG are tuned by a new two-stage approach using differential evolution (DE) and bees algorithm (BA). Furthermore, performance of the proposed controller is verified using the robotic simulation software Webots.

Due to the extensive use of concrete structures in various applications, the improvement of their strength and quality has become of great importance. A new way of achieving this purpose is to add different types of nanoparticles to concrete admixtures. In this work, a mathematical model has been employed to analyze the vibration of concrete beams reinforced by graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles. To verify the accuracy of the presented model, an experimental study has been conducted to compare the compressive strengths of these beams. Since GO nanoparticles are not readily dissolved in water, before producing the concrete samples, the GO nanoparticles are dispersed in the mixture by using a shaker, magnetic striker, ultrasonic devices, and finally, by means of a mechanical mixer. The sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory (SSDBT) is employed to model the concrete beams. The Mori-Tanaka model is used to determine the effective properties of the structure, including the agglomeration influences. The motion equations are calculated by applying the energy method and Hamilton's principle. The vibration frequencies of the concrete beam samples are obtained by an analytical method. Three samples containing 0.02% GO nanoparticles are made and their compressive strengths are measured and compared. There is a good agreement between our results and those of the mathematical model and other papers, with a maximum difference of 1.29% between them. The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of nanoparticle volume fraction and agglomeration and the influences of beam length and thickness on the vibration frequency of concrete structures. The results show that by adding the GO nanoparticles, the vibration frequency of the beams is increased.

$TiO_2-ZrO_2$ was prepared with surfactant through a sol-gel method. Catalysts containing 5 - 35% $H_3PO_4$ were prepared using these oxides. Subsequently the catalytic performance of prepared catalysts was determined for liquid phase esterification of aromatic acids. $H_3PO_4/TiO_2-ZrO_2$ has been used as catalyst to synthesize various novel esters by esterification of some aromatic acids with aliphatic alcohols (2-propanol, 1-butanol, iso butanol, 3-pentanol, 1-hexanol, heptanol, cyclo heptanol, octanol and decanol). Under optimized conditions, maximum yields and selectivity (100%) to the corresponding ester, was obtained by using 25 wt % $H_3PO_4/TiO_2-ZrO_2$ as catalyst. The Catalyst can be easily recycled after reaction and can be reused without any significant loss of activity/selectivity performance. No by-product formation, high yields, short reaction times, mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity with reusability of the catalyst are the salient features of the present synthetic protocol. The reaction was carried out under solvent-free condition.

In this paper poly (4-methyl vinylpyridinium hydroxide)/SBA-15 composite was prepared as a highly efficient heterogeneous basic catalyst by in situ polymerization method for the first time. It was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, BET,TGA, SEM and back titration using NaOH. This catalyst exhibited the excellent catalytic activities for the Knoevenagel condensation of various aldehydes with ethyl cyanoacetate. Over this catalyst, α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds were obtained in the reasonable yield at 95 oC in 10 - 30 min in H2O as a solvent with a 100% selectivity to the condensation products. Catalyst could be easily recycled after the reaction and it could be reused without the significant loss of activity/selectivity performance. No by-product formation, high yields, short reaction times, mild reaction conditions and operational simplicity with reusability of the catalyst were the salient features of the present synthetic protocol. Presence of H2O as a solvent was also recognized as a “green method”.
