A detailed spectroscopic study (1H NMR, COSY, ROESY) of complexation of venlafaxine hydrochloride (VEN) with b-cyclodextrin (b-CD) was carried out in solution. The stoichiometry of the complex was determined to be 1 : 1 and penetration of aromatic ring into b-Cyclodextrin cavity was confirmed from primary rim side, with the help of ROESY spectral data. The structure of the venlafaxine hydrochloride-b-CD complex has been proposed. The association constant was determined to be 234 M-1.

The 3D printing process known as SLM involves the melting of the metal powder, which results in a melt-pool. When this melt-pool solidifies, the solidified metal undergoes cooling and reheating in the presence of air and multiple laser passes for continuous material consolidation. As a result of such thermal cycles, the manufactured part develops permanent thermal deformation and residual stresses. The current work proposes the FEM and AM G-code based numerical strategy to qualitatively analyze the formation of such deformations and stresses at part scale. A multi-physics model was developed by coupling of transient thermal heat equation with non-linear structural solver. To mimic the consolidation of material with laser motion, the finite elements were activated as per the pattern of metal deposition under the influence of AM G-code. A numerical experiment was conducted to virtually manufacture the part with mechanical properties of 15-5PH stainless steel [1]. We found that the thermomechanical FEM model interfaced with the AM G-code translated data helps to evaluate the comparable trends of thermal deformation and residual stress results with already established studies. This demonstrates that with a given set of operational instructions, how the thermal conduction, convection and radiation drive the AM process by thermally loading the deposited material. Furthermore, the AM G-code interfacing facilitated the communication of laser scanning path with numerical FEM solver. We anticipate that such development may enable the manufacturing and simulation engineers to early estimate the possible final deformation of the AM fabricated part. Additionally, the developed strategy may also be the initial step for the physically informed neural networks to optimize the laser scan path for precise manufacturing of the metal parts.

The liver is one of the most common sites of cancer in the world, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) predominating. HCC is the sixth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer related death overall. Hepatitis C is a major risk factor and HCV is a rapid spreading virus which has become a problem globally, including in Pakistan. Interferon alpha therapy is used against HCV disease to regulate cell reproduction and to boost the immune system. In minute amounts interferon alpha is produced naturally by the immune system in HCV patients in response to hepatitis C virus and binds to receptors in the target cells and starts transcription of 20-30 genes due to which it develops an antiviral influence. Interferon is also administered artificially to overcome HCV disease and remove the biological effect of the virus from the infected site. The use of interferon or Peg-IFN plus Ribavirin treatment is also associated with adverse effects on body. For the current study, a convenient sample of 156 HCV positive patients of both males and females were taken. To collect blood CP and ALT, a reduction of level data and other important information were collected from the patients at regular intervals. Findings were 11.4 % in the red blood cells (RBC), 9.64 % in the total leukocyte count (WBC), 8.4 % in the hemoglobin levels (HB), 30.3 % in the platelet (Plt) count in both sexes. There was significant reduction in ALT levels due to Pegylated interferon plus ribavirin therapy. Hence strict haemotological monitoring of blood CP and ALT levels is necessary at regular intervals to reduce severe side effects which may lead to morbidity and mortality.
