Fabrication of Bi4Ti3O12 Films on Pt Substrate by Inkjet Printing

Ferroelectric Bi4Ti3O12 thin films were prepared on Pt-coated Si wafers by using alcoholic solutions which dissolved Bi(OtC5H11)3 and Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4 in C2H5OC2H4OH. To fabricate films with a single phase of the perovskite structure, we fired the precursor films in an atmosphere with strong oxidizability. The fabricated films exhibited a single perovskite phase and a predominantly c-axis orientation with plate-like grains larger than 4 × 4 μm2 and smooth surface over an extensive area. The leakage current density of the films was of the order of 10.7 A/cm2. Several 1 × 1 cm2 square patterns were directly drawn on a 4-inch Si wafers by inkjet printing (IJP). The minimum dot size realized was approximately 70 μm in diameter. Beside, the force a droplet from printer head was faithfully. However, from the typical thickness profile of the printed line shape patterns, the height at the center of the line was very low while that at the periphery was extremely high. This seems to be due to the surface tension.

A 72-year-old man with jaundice by ampullary adenocarcinoma was treated at our hospital. For biliary decompression, a transpapillary, fully covered, self-expandable metal stent (FCSEMS) was deployed. Four days later, the patient developed acute cholangitis. Endoscopic carbon dioxide cholangiography revealed kinking of the common bile duct above the proximal end of the FCSEMS. A 7-F double-pigtail plastic stent was therefore placed through the FCSEMS to correct the kink, straightening the common bile duct (CBD) and improving cholangitis. This is the first report of a unique use of a double-pigtail plastic stent to correct CBD kinking. The placement of a double-pigtail plastic stent can correct CBD kinking, without requiring replacement or addition of a FCSEMS, and can lead to cost savings. (Gut Liver, 2015;9:251-252)

A 69-year-old woman with jaundice was referred to our hospital. After a final diagnosis of pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis, we performed transpapillary biliary drainage with a covered self-expandable metal stent (SEMS). Three months later, we also placed an uncovered duodenal stent for duodenal stricture in a side-to-end fashion. Another month later, for biliary SEMS obstruction, we attempted a transpapillary approach. A duodenoscope was advanced and a guidewire was passed through the mesh of the duodenal stent into the bile duct with a flexible tip catheter, but the catheter was not. Thus, we exchanged the duodenoscope for a forward-viewing two-channel endoscope and used the left working channel with a flexible tip catheter. By adjusting the axis, we finally succeeded biliary cannulation and accomplished balloon cleaning for recanalization of the SEMS. This is the first case with successful biliary cannulation by combined use of a two-channel endoscope and a flexible tip catheter.

Background: Several systematic reviews have reported on the conservative treatment of full-thickness rotator cuff tears; however, clinical results of this treatment still remain determined. Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, PEDro, and CINAHL databases were systematically searched for randomized clinical trials and observational studies. Two independent researchers reviewed a total of 2,981 articles, 28 of which met the criteria for inclusion in the study. Clinical outcome measures included Constant score, visual analog scale score for pain, range of motion, and short-form 36. The meta-analysis used a linear mixed model weighted with the variance of the estimate. Results: The meta-analysis showed a significant improvement after surgery. Many tasks are currently automated in the manufacturing field, but some are still performed by workers, which require technical knowledge and skills. However, it is difficult for a new worker to learn skills that require precise motion and extensive experience. Conventional on-the-job training (OJT) has a problem, which is the difficulty of defining and evaluating a correct task. Therefore, this study aimed to visualize the proper skills and their effects on quality in metallic painting operations, and to design the concept for a skill training system. Product quality depends on a worker’s motion and the effects of tools. To train a skill based on these factors, it is necessary to visualize the proper skill and to devise a method of training. Therefore, changes to a worker’s motion and the quality of products were visualized using a motion capture (MOCAP) system and three-dimensional computer graphics (3DCG) software. Furthermore, such a system requires a trainee to experience the proper motion and to evaluate his or her skills. The motion of two skilled workers was therefore analyzed to extract their skills as explicit knowledge. The skilled workers’ motion was measured using the MOCAP system. The obtained data were then analyzed as positional and rotational data in three axes for each motion of the main parts of the body. Consequently, 11 types of skills were extracted by analyzing the data. Then, an experiment was conducted to visualize the quality of the metallic painting operation using film thickness as an index. Seven factors for film thickness were extracted, and these were quantified in the experiment. Moreover, these factors were applied to 3DCG, and the film thickness was reproduced by simulation. As the result of a statistical test, the reproducibility of the film thickness was guaranteed in 3DCG. Based on the results, a training system was designed for to enable a new worker to learn the skill.
Could Management of Blood Pressure Prevent Dementia in the elderly?

Background: Hypertension is one of the most relevant risk factors in vascular aging, stroke and vascular dementia (VD). In the elderly, the prevalence of mixed dementia, which consists of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and VD, is increased. Moreover, disorders of blood vessels are reported to be involved in the onset and progression of AD. Thus, hypertension generally plays an important role in dementia overall. Main Text: Mid-life hypertension is reported to be related to the incidence of dementia, but it is reported that antihypertensive treatment in aged people cannot prevent the onset and progression of dementia. The reninangiotensin system (RAS) is deeply involved in not only hypertension but also lifestyle-related diseases, and may contribute to the pathological mechanism in dementia; thus, RAS regulation is expected to prevent dementia. Small vessel structural changes in lifestyle-related diseases may play a role in dementia in the elderly. Conclusion: Here, we discuss the role of blood pressure elevation in dementia and the therapeutic possibility of antihypertensive treatment against dementia.

Passives and anti-causatives share the same morphology in many languages. In Greek, they are both marked by non-active morphology. This isomorphism has been accounted for by positing the Voice head in both the isomorphic passive and anti-causative structures. This paper shows that the isomorphism between passives and anti-causatives exists in Japanese as well and that the same analysis holds of Japanese as well. Further, I show that Japanese isomorphic anti-causatives denote externally caused events. It has been proposed by previous studies that there is a parametric variation with regard to the availability of the causative alternation of externally caused event verbs. Languages that allow anti-causatives of externally caused events employ specifier-less Voice. Following the theoretical assumptions of the previous studies, I argue that the suffix shared by the isomorphic verbs in Japanese is an overt realization of specifier-less Voice. This study supports the empirical validity of positing specifier-less Voice from a comparative perspective.
