The Virtual Sea of Entertainment using Motion Capture : Physical control video game
Masafumi ONUKI,Etsuo GENDA 한국디자인학회 2010 한국디자인학회 학술발표대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
Humankind and marine organisms are different in a lot of points. The environment in the sea and the land is different too. It is not easy for us to imagine life in the sea. However, the digital technology offers you extraordinary experiences. Especially, video games give you various roles and worlds. In this paper, we construct a video game as an entertainment in which users dive into the virtual ocean and experience an underwater world. To offer a feeling of vitality and reality, it is preferable to experience not only with hands and eyes but with a whole body. We use optical motion capture system as input devices of our video game. A physical computing that operates the computer with a sensor that perceives hands and feet's movement by person's natural behavior gives users natural feelings in virtual spaces. We hope users of our games to recognize difference between life in the sea and life on the ground and to be interested in the sea and nature.
