Partially Occluded Face Reconstruction Using Graph-based Algorithm

Meena Manisha Kumari,Meena Hemant Kumar,Sharma Ramnivas 대한전기학회 2024 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.19 No.6

This study introduces a novel algorithm rooted in spectral graph theory for the reconstruction of occluded facial images, with the aim of enhancing face recognition accuracy. The proposed method, Face Reconstruction using Graph Fourier Transform (FRGFT) comprises three key stages: fi rstly, construct a graph representation of the image where each pixel is a node, and edges between nodes represent pixel adjacency with weights that capture both intensity and spatial relationships; secondly, identify occluded parts of the image using a graph-based segmentation technique to update the occlusion mask; and thirdly, reconstruct the original image from the occluded version using the Laplacian matrix of the graph and the updated occlusion mask. The whole process lies on the Graph Laplacian (GL) technique, which draws the concepts from graphical models and the Laplace equation, proving to be eff ective in the high-quality restoration of faces that are damaged or occluded. This paper establishes the connection between GL and the traditional Fourier transform methods. To assess the utility of the GLbased restoration, completed facial images processed through the algorithm are subjected to face recognition testing. The eff ectiveness of the proposed approach is validated on two datasets: extended AR and CelebA face dataset, which have been signifi cantly noticeable as our proposed approach achieves 98.5% accuracy as compared with the existing method.

Comparative study of torsional wave profiles through stratified media with fluted boundaries

        Manisha Maity,Santimoy Kundu,Alka Kumari,Shishir Gupta 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.74 No.1

A mathematical analysis has been carried out for understanding the traversal attributes of torsional waves in a Voigt-type viscoelastic porous layer bounded with corrugated surfaces resting over a heterogeneous transversely isotropic gravitating semi-infinite medium. Both the media are assumed to be under the effect of initial stresses acting along horizontal directions. In the presumed geometry, continuous and periodic type of corrugation has been considered. The condensed form of dispersion relation has been obtained analytically with the aid of the Whittaker’s function and suitable boundary conditions. The influence of viscoelasticity, porosity, initial stresses, heterogeneity, gravity, undulation and position parameters on the phase and damped velocities has been illustrated graphically. In addition, relative examination investigating the impact of corrugated and planar bounded surfaces on the dispersion and damping characteristics is one of the important highlights of this study.

Design and synthesis of some new 1-phenyl-3/4-[4-(aryl/ heteroaryl/alkyl-piperazine1-yl)-phenyl-ureas as potent anticonvulsant and antidepressant agents

Chandra Bhushan Mishra,Shikha Kumari,Manisha Tiwari 대한약학회 2016 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.39 No.5

A series of 1-phenyl-3/4-[4-(aryl/heteroaryl/alkyl-piperazine1-yl)-phenyl-urea derivatives (29–42) weredesigned, synthesized and evaluated for their anticonvulsantactivity by using maximal electroshock (MES), subcutaneouspentylenetetrazole (scPTZ) seizure tests. Theacute neurotoxicity was checked by rotarod assay. Most ofthe test compounds were found effective in both seizuretests. Compound 30 (1-{4-[4-(4-chloro-phenyl)-piperazin-1-yl]-phenyl}-3-phenyl-urea) exhibited marked anticonvulsantactivity in MES as well as scPTZ tests. The phaseII anticonvulsant quantification study of compound 30indicates the ED50 value of 28.5 mg/kg against MESinduced seizures. In addition, this compound also showedconsiderable protection against pilocarpine induced statusepilepticus in rats. Seizures induced by 3-mercaptopropionicacid model and thiosemicarbazide were significantlyattenuated by compound 30, which suggested its broadspectrum of anticonvulsant activity. Interestingly, compound30 displayed better antidepressant activity thanstandard drug fluoxetine. Moreover, compound 30appeared as a non-toxic chemical entity in sub-acute toxicitystudies.

      • Precision Agriculture using Internet of Thing with Artificial Intelligence: A Systematic Literature Review

Zahid Hussain Khand,Sana Gul,Manisha Kumari,Ghulam Mujtaba Sheikh,Noureen Fatima,Kainat Fareed Memon International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2023 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.23 No.7

Machine learning with its high precision algorithms, Precision agriculture (PA) is a new emerging concept nowadays. Many researchers have worked on the quality and quantity of PA by using sensors, networking, machine learning (ML) techniques, and big data. However, there has been no attempt to work on trends of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, dataset and crop type on precision agriculture using internet of things (IoT). This research aims to systematically analyze the domains of AI techniques and datasets that have been used in IoT based prediction in the area of PA. A systematic literature review is performed on AI based techniques and datasets for crop management, weather, irrigation, plant, soil and pest prediction. We took the papers on precision agriculture published in the last six years (2013-2019). We considered 42 primary studies related to the research objectives. After critical analysis of the studies, we found that crop management; soil and temperature areas of PA have been commonly used with the help of IoT devices and AI techniques. Moreover, different artificial intelligence techniques like ANN, CNN, SVM, Decision Tree, RF, etc. have been utilized in different fields of Precision agriculture. Image processing with supervised and unsupervised learning practice for prediction and monitoring the PA are also used. In addition, most of the studies are forfaiting sensory dataset to measure different properties of soil, weather, irrigation and crop. To this end, at the end, we provide future directions for researchers and guidelines for practitioners based on the findings of this review.
