This paper presents an efect of annealing temperature on microstructure and electrical properties of TiW contact flms deposited on ITO thin flm at a room temperature using DC magnetron sputtering system. As-deposited TiW contact flms are annealed at 200, 400 and 600 °C under vacuum environment. The microstructural properties are investigated using XRD, SEM and AFM. The electrical characteristics are characterized by linear transmission line method (L-TLM). The SEM and XRD investigations show that the TiW contact flm is composed of circular grains, and the crystals within the flm are oriented in either the (110) or (200) direction. An increase in grain size is observed on annealed TiW contact flms compared to as-deposited flms as investigated from SEM and AFM analysis. Annealing TiW contact flms at 600 °C improves their ohmic properties, reducing surface roughness and resulting in a specifc contact resistance of 6.25× 10−2 Ω cm2 at room temperature. These contacts are suitable for high-temperature sensor applications.

Currently, the pin-by-pin homogenized solvers are a very active research field as they can, unlike the nodal codes, directly predict the local power, while requiring significantly less computational resources than the heterogeneous transport codes. This paper presents a recently developed pin-by-pin diffusion/SP3 solver Tortin, its spatial discretization method and the reflector treatment. Regarding the spatial discretization, it was observed that the finite difference method applied on pin-cell size mesh does not properly capture the big flux change between MOX and uranium fuel, while the nodal expansion method is more accurate but too slow. If the finite difference method is used with a finer mesh in the outer two pin rows of the fuel assembly, it increases the required computation time by only 50%, but decreases the pin power errors below 1% with respect to lattice code reference solutions. The paper further describes the coupling of Tortin with a microscopic depletion solver. Several verification tests show that the SP3 pin-by-pin solver can reproduce the heterogeneous transport solvers results with very good accuracy, even for fuel cycle depletion of very heterogeneous core employing MOX fuel or inserted control rods, while being two orders of magnitude faster.
Approaches to Southeast Asian Studies: Beyond the “Comfort Zone”

Over the last decade, the field of Southeast Asian Studies has been inundated with issues of its “territory” (or the definition of what comprises Southeast Asia), relevance and future. The methodology of approaching Southeast Asian Studies has also come under constant scrutiny providing much fodder for debate. One significant suggestion was that the field of Southeast Asian Studies should “break out of the comfort zone” (Van Schendel, Bijdragen, 2012:168(4)). This paper will explore some of the ways of approaching Southeast Asian Studies beyond that comfort zone by examining other/alternative units of studying Southeast Asia in place of the traditional (or statist) perspectives that tend to confine the field within the scope of the national/ nation-state boundaries. The paper will also provide some personal observations of the author on the current state and limitations to teaching and researching Southeast Asian Studies in the region.
