QR code as speckle pattern for reinforced concrete beams using digital image correlation

Digital Image Correlation technique (DIC) is a non-contact optical method for rapid structural health monitoring of critical infrastructure. An innovative approach to DIC is presented using QR (Quick Response) code based random speckle pattern. Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) beams of size $1800mm{\times}150mm{\times}200mm$ are tested in flexure. DIC is used to extract Moment (M) - Curvature (${\kappa}$) relationships using random speckle patterns and QR code based random speckle patterns. The QR code based random speckle pattern is evaluated for 2D DIC measurements and the QR code speckle pattern performs satisfactorily in comparison with random speckle pattern when considered in the context of serving a dual purpose. Characteristics of QR code based random speckle pattern are quantified and its applicability to DIC is explored. The ultimate moment-curvature values computed from the QR code based random speckled pattern are found to be in good agreement with conventional measurements. QR code encrypts the structural information which enables integration with building information modelling (BIM).

In this paper, we introduce the concept of fuzzy ideals, anti-fuzzy ideals of Γ-BCK-algebras. We study the properties of fuzzy ideals, anti-fuzzy ideals of Γ-BCK-algebras. We prove that if f^-1(μ) is a fuzzy ideal of M, then μ is a fuzzy ideal of N, where f : M ! N is an epimorphism of Γ-BCK-algebras M and N.

Hydrogen peroxide, with sodium metavanadate as the catalyst, was used to achieve a highly efficient and selective oxidation of sulfides into sulfoxides and sulfones at room temperature in high yields and short reaction times. All of the sulfides oxidized into sulfoxides and sulfone derivatives were assayed for their in vitro antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and antifungal activities against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. A remarkable inhibition of the growth of the bacterial and fungal strains was observed. This result suggested that the compounds are promising microbial agents.

Helicoverpa armigera is an important pest infesting a number of crops of high commercial value leading to huge economic losses globally. RNA interference (RNAi) is a potent tool for the control of insect pests and towards this objective, transgenic tomato expressing dsRNA of Juvenile hormone acid methyl transferase (JHAMT) gene of H. armigera was developed. The H. armigera larvae fed on HaJHAMT tomato leaves led to a severe (90%) down regulation of the cognate gene expression thus adversely affected the feeding and metamorphosis. Reduction in larval and pupal weight and inability to undergo complete metamorphosis were observed that led to larval-pupal intermediates and subsequently affected the eclosion. Thus, JH down regulation is an attractive target due to specificity to insects and its important role in insect growth and development to engineer insect resistance in crops using RNAi.

The prophylactic effects of oleanolic acid (OA) isolated from chloroform extract (CE) of Flaveria trinervia against ethanol induced liver toxicity was investigated using rats. CE and OA at three different doses were tested by administering orally to the ethanol treated animals during the last week of the 7 weeks study. Silymarin was used as the standard reference. The substantially elevated serum enzymatic levels of serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, glutamate pyruvate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin in ethanol treated animals were restored towards normalcy by treatment of CE and OA. In vivo antioxidant and in vitro free radical scavenging activities were also positive for all the three concentrations of CE and OA. However, OA at 150 mg/kg showed significant activity when compared to the other two doses. Biochemical observations in support with histopathological examinations revealed that CE and OA possess hepatoprotective action against ethanol induced hepatotoxicity in rats.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A single-phase white-light-emitting phosphor, K<SUB>3</SUB>ZnB<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB>:Dy<SUP>3+</SUP>, has been synthesized by a conventional solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was used to determine the monoclinic crystal structure of phosphors. The surface states, B 1s, O 1s, K 2p, Zn 2p, and Dy 3d of the phosphor was quantified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) revealed double absorption edges at 3.27 and 5.46 eV for K<SUB>3</SUB>ZnB<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB> matrix. The formation of defect-levels, zinc interstitials ( Z <SUB> n i </SUB> ) , zinc vacancies ( <SUB> V Z n </SUB> ) , oxygen antisites ( <SUB> O Z n </SUB> ) and oxygen vacancies ( <SUB> V O </SUB> ) in K<SUB>3</SUB>ZnB<SUB>5</SUB>O<SUB>10</SUB>:Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> phosphors were identified by photoluminescent (PL) spectroscopy. The emissions at 405 nm (violet-I), 434 nm (violet-II), and 467 nm (blue) are due to intra-band transitions of ( F X → <SUB> V Z n </SUB> ) , ( Z <SUB> n i </SUB> → <SUB> V Z n </SUB> ) and ( Z <SUB> n i </SUB> → <SUB> O Z n </SUB> ) of the host, respectively. Similarly, the emission at 517 nm (green) corresponds to the transition from free excitons to the oxygen vacancies in the host ( F X → <SUB> V O </SUB> ) . The emissions at 575 and 665 nm are assigned to the <I>f-f</I> transitions of Dy<SUP>3+</SUP> ions within the host matrix. An energy level diagram is proposed to describe the host emission and possible energy transfer from the host to dopant ions in the single-phase phosphor. The phosphor shows good thermal stability with activation energy of 0.52 eV. In this paper we explore the effective time utilization, without influencing the deadline requirements of typical hard real time task ,there are no limitation on the new results each task can be periodic or sporadic ,with relative deadline which can be less than ,equivalent to or greater than its period, it is too fast , best-effort ,effective real time scheduling algorithm for a wide variety of job parameters.
