Abstract

The vibronically excited but jet-cooled o-ethynylbenzyl radical was generated from precursor, o-ethynyltoluene seeded in a large amount of carrier gas helium using a home-made pinhole-type glass nozzle combined with the technique of corona excited supersonic expansion. The visible vibronic emission spectrum was recorded with a long-path monochromator from the corona discharge of the precursor. The Truck suspension is one of the most important part to decide the durability performance of the commercial vehicle. Since the spring Hanger, a core component for rigid axle supension, directly supports leaf spring, it needs strength and durability. In this paper, X/Y/Z directional durability test was carried out and test objective was the 5 ton truck. The durability test has been conducted under a driving condition of X/Y/Z force mode by usieng hydraulic actuator for spring hanger for commercial vehicle. We"ve also carried out srtuctural analysis by utilizing ANSYSin order to predict for spring hanger durability.

The safety of a system becomes very critical as recent technical development allows many systems to replace human action. To make such systems operate properly even with fault, the redundancy becomes an essential design element The redundancy of a system can be categorized by static and dynamic redundancy. In case of dynamic redundancy, fault detection is a key element of system. In this research, we investigated the efficacy of exponential smoothing method for detecting faults in a signal The fault detection capability was compared with static redundancy.

The effect of the solvent viscosity on the dynamics of NO rebinding to myoglobin (Mb) and hemoglobin (Hb) was examined by femtosecond (fs) time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy after photodeligation of NO from MbNO and HbNO in various viscous solutions at 283 K using a 580 nm excitation pulse. The rebinding kinetics of NO to both Mb and Hb were nonexponential, but their dependence on the solvent viscosity was different. The rate of NO rebinding to Mb increased with increasing solution viscosity, which was achieved by increasing the glycerol content in glycerol/water mixture. In contrast, the rate of NO rebinding to Hb was independent of the solution viscosity but faster than the fastest rate of NO rebinding observed in Mb. The dynamics of conformational relaxation of the protein after deligation were also measured by probing the evolution of the amide band. The effect of the solvent viscosity on the kinetics of conformational relaxation in both proteins was also quite different. The conformational relaxation of Mb became slower with increasing solution viscosity. On the other hand, the conformational relaxation of Hb was independent of the solution viscosity but slower than the slowest kinetics of Mb. The inverse correlation in the kinetics of conformational relaxation and NO rebinding suggests that the barrier of NO rebinding increases as the conformation of the protein relaxes toward the deligated structure after NO dissociation. The rebinding kinetics of NO to both proteins was well described by a kinetic model incorporating a time-dependent barrier for rebinding and exponential translocations between three states for dissociated NO.

Graphic Abstract

FTIR spectroscopy has been employed to investigate the variation of anion-water hydrogen bonding in 1-butyl 3-methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bmim][$BF_4$]) ionic liquid caused by addition of organic co-solvents with various polarities. The variation was estimated by probing band shape and intensity of the OH stretching vibration of trace water present in ionic liquid at $3400-3800cm^{-1}$. The presence of polar aprotic co-solvent in ionic liquid dramatically reduces the absorptivity of the OH stretch band, indicating that the co-solvent changes the nature of anion-water hydrogen bond drastically, which might be responsible for the reduction of the viscosity of ionic liquid in the presence of the co-solvent.
Thermal Healing of a Mixed-Thiol Monolayer at the Nanoscale
Zhang, Zhengqing,Lim, Manho,Ahn, Yoonho,Jang, Joonkyung American Chemical Society 2018 The Journal of Physical Chemistry Part C Vol.122 No.23

Using molecular dynamics simulation, we study the thermal healing of a mixed-thiol monolayer grown by contact printing. By simulating the monolayers with various compositions of octadecanethiol and decanethiol molecules, we show that a mixed-thiol monolayer grown by contact printing contains a significant portion of unbound molecules which fail to bind their sulfur atoms to the underlying gold surface. A subsequent thermal annealing (300-370 K) however removes the unbound thiol molecules and gives an ordered and compact monolayer. We uncover the molecular pathways behind the removal of the unbound molecules during thermal annealing.
[FIG OMISSION]

X-By-Wire system is representative of new developed idea in chassis of automotive vehicle. It is necessary for X-By-Wire system to guarantee safety to vehicles in order to be applied. Safety in a system is achieved if a state transition to a failure state does not happen and the system operate within designed behavior after occurring fault In order to accomplish this safety, a system must be fault tolerant. Generally, if a system is fault tolerant, the system has redundant modules. In this paper, Steer-By-Wire system which is most representative system of X-By-Wire will be analyzed about fault cases and fault tree wiII be presented. On the basis of these results, probability of failure wiII be calculated at redundancy. In addition to, redundant algorithm will be showed and the system performance will be evaluated to prevent occurring transition to failure state.
Predicting RNA Structures via a Simple van der Waals Correction to an All-Atom Force Field
Yang, Changwon,Lim, Manho,Kim, Eunae,Pak, Youngshang American Chemical Society 2017 Journal of chemical theory and computation Vol.13 No.2

We proposed a simple van der Waals backbone correction (O2' and OP) to the AMBER ff12 force field in conjunction with the OPC water via an unequal Lorentz-Berthelot combination rule. As tested on four different tetranuceotides such as r(GACC), r(CCCC), r(AAAA), and r(CAAU), this new force field correctly captured each native fold as the largest population. For a RNA tetraloop (UUCG) tested, the stability of its native fold is substantially improved.
