      • Gate-tunable phase transitions in thin flakes of 1T-TaS2.

        Yu, Yijun,Yang, Fangyuan,Lu, Xiu Fang,Yan, Ya Jun,Cho, Yong-Heum,Ma, Liguo,Niu, Xiaohai,Kim, Sejoong,Son, Young-Woo,Feng, Donglai,Li, Shiyan,Cheong, Sang-Wook,Chen, Xian Hui,Zhang, Yuanbo Nature Pub. Group 2015 Nature nanotechnology Vol.10 No.3

<P>The ability to tune material properties using gating by electric fields is at the heart of modern electronic technology. It is also a driving force behind recent advances in two-dimensional systems, such as the observation of gate electric-field-induced superconductivity and metal-insulator transitions. Here, we describe an ionic field-effect transistor (termed an iFET), in which gate-controlled Li ion intercalation modulates the material properties of layered crystals of 1T-TaS2. The strong charge doping induced by the tunable ion intercalation alters the energetics of various charge-ordered states in 1T-TaS2 and produces a series of phase transitions in thin-flake samples with reduced dimensionality. We find that the charge-density wave states in 1T-TaS2 collapse in the two-dimensional limit at critical thicknesses. Meanwhile, at low temperatures, the ionic gating induces multiple phase transitions from Mott-insulator to metal in 1T-TaS2 thin flakes, with five orders of magnitude modulation in resistance, and superconductivity emerges in a textured charge-density wave state induced by ionic gating. Our method of gate-controlled intercalation opens up possibilities in searching for novel states of matter in the extreme charge-carrier-concentration limit.</P>

        Guanfu Liu,Mengying Li,Guosheng Li,Zhiyong Li,Ailian Liu,Renwang Pu,Huizhi Cao,Yijun Liu 대한영상의학회 2018 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.19 No.1

Objective: To exploit material decomposition analysis in dual-energy spectral computed tomography (CT) to assess the blood supply status of the ground-glass opacity (GGO) in lungs. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 48 patients with lung adenocarcinoma, who underwent a contrast-enhanced dual-energy spectral CT scan before treatment (53 GGOs in total). The iodine concentration (IC) and water content (WC) of the GGO, the contralateral and ipsilateral normal lung tissues were measured in the arterial phase (AP) and their differences were analyzed. IC, normalized IC (NIC), and WC values were compared between the pure ground-glass opacity (pGGO) and the mixed ground-glass opacity (mGGO), and between the group of preinvasive lesions and the minimally invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) and invasive adenocarcinoma (IA) groups. Results: The values of pGGO (IC = 20.9 ± 6.2 mg/mL and WC = 345.1 ± 87.1 mg/mL) and mGGO (IC = 23.8 ± 8.3 mg/mL and WC = 606.8 ± 124.5 mg/mL) in the AP were significantly higher than those of the contralateral normal lung tissues (IC = 15.0 ± 4.9 mg/mL and WC = 156.4 ± 36.8 mg/mL; IC = 16.2 ± 5.7 mg/mL and WC = 169.4 ± 41.0 mg/mL) and ipsilateral normal lung tissues (IC = 15.1 ± 6.2 mg/mL and WC = 156.3 ± 38.8 mg/mL; IC = 15.9 ± 6.0 mg/mL and WC = 174.7 ± 39.2 mg/mL; all p < 0.001). After normalizing the data according to the values of the artery, pGGO (NIC = 0.1 and WC = 345.1 ± 87.1 mg/mL) and mGGO (NIC = 0.2 and WC = 606.8 ± 124.5 mg/mL) were statistically different (p = 0.049 and p < 0.001, respectively), but not for the IC value (p = 0.161). The WC values of the group with preinvasive lesions and MIA (345.4 ± 96.1 mg/mL) and IA (550.1 ± 158.2 mg/mL) were statistically different (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Using dual-energy spectral CT and material decomposition analysis, the IC in GGO can be quantitatively measured which can be an indicator of the blood supply status in the GGO.

Implantation of Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (ADSCs)-Lining Prosthetic Graft Promotes Vascular Regeneration in Monkeys and Pigs

        Zuo Xiao,Han Pengfei,Yuan Ding,Xiao Ying,Huang Yushi,Li Rui,Jiang Xia,Feng Li,Li Yijun,Zhang Yaya,Zhu Ping,Wang Hongge,Wang Ning,Kang Y. James 한국조직공학과 재생의학회 2024 조직공학과 재생의학 Vol.21 No.4

Background: Current replacement procedures for stenosis or occluded arteries using prosthetic grafts have serious limitations in clinical applications, particularly, endothelialization of the luminal surface is a long-standing unresolved problem. Method: We produced a cell-based hybrid vascular graft using a bioink engulfing adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (ADSCs) and a 3D bioprinting process lining the ADSCs on the luminal surface of GORE-Tex grafts. The hybrid graft was implanted as an interposition conduit to replace a 3-cm-long segment of the infrarenal abdominal aorta in Rhesus monkeys. Results: Complete endothelium layer and smooth muscle layer were fully developed within 21 days post-implantation, along with normalized collagen deposition and crosslinking in the regenerated vasculature in all monkeys. The regenerated blood vessels showed normal functionality for the longest observation of more than 1650 days. The same procedure was also conducted in miniature pigs for the interposition replacement of a 10-cm-long right iliac artery and showed the same long-term effective and safe outcome. Conclusion: This cell-based vascular graft is ready to undergo clinical trials for human patients. • Spatio-Temporal Saliency Fusion Based Small Infrared Moving Target Detection Under Sea-Sky Background

        Li Shaoyi,Wang Xiaotian,Zhang Kai,Niu Saisai,Zou Yijun 제어로봇시스템학회 2019 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2019 No.10

Small infrared moving target detection has an important role in the sea-based infrared search and tracking, maritime area surveillance and other applications. This method aims to detect the small infrared moving targets with the sea-sky background. The present study proposes a detection algorithm for small infrared targets based on the spatio-temporal saliency fusion. The contourlet analysis and edge extraction are carried out in the concurrent design. In order to effectively suppress the background and improve the target signal-clutter ratio, the spectral residual method is combined with the abovementioned methods to reconstruct the target fusion saliency image. Then the target motion region is estimated based on the optical flow method for the fusion saliency image and it is matched with the target area of interest to achieve the moving target detection. Moreover, the pipeline filtering is introduced to achieve the target confirmation by multi-frame judgment, reduce false alarm rate and complete the moving target detection for the infrared image sequence. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve continuous target detection and have a higher detection precision via real long wave infrared image sequences.

Monolayer Molybdenum Disulfide Transistors with Single-Atom-Thick Gates

        Zhu, Yibo,Li, Yijun,Arefe, Ghidewon,Burke, Robert A.,Tan, Cheng,Hao, Yufeng,Liu, Xiaochi,Liu, Xue,Yoo, Won Jong,Dubey, Madan,Lin, Qiao,Hone, James C. American Chemical Society 2018 NANO LETTERS Vol.18 No.6

<P>Two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are unique candidates for the development of next-generation electronic devices. However, the large contact resistance between metal and the monolayer TMDs have significantly limited the devices’ performance. Also, the integration of ultrathin high-<I>k</I> dielectric layers with TMDs remains difficult due to the lack of dangling bonds on the surface of TMDs. We present monolayer molybdenum disulfide field-effect transistors with bottom local gates consisting of monolayer graphene. The atomic-level thickness and surface roughness of graphene facilitate the growth of high-quality ultrathin HfO2 and suppress gate leakage. Strong displacement fields above 8 V/nm can be applied using a single graphene gate to electrostatically dope the MoS2, which reduces the contact resistances between Ni and monolayer MoS2 to 2.3 kΩ·μm at low gate voltages. The devices exhibit excellent switching characteristics including a near-ideal subthreshold slope of 64 millivolts per decade, low threshold voltage (∼0.5 V), high channel conductance (>100 μS/μm), and low hysteresis. Scaled devices with 50 and 14 nm channels as well as ultrathin (5 nm) gate dielectrics show effective immunity to short-channel effects. The device fabricated on flexible polymeric substrate also exhibits high performance and has a fully transparent channel region that is desirable in optical-related studies and practical applications.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Identification of genes involved in inbreeding depression of reproduction in Langshan chickens

        Xue Qian,Li Guohui,Cao Yuxia,Yin Jianmei,Zhu Yunfen,Zhang Huiyong,Zhou Chenghao,Shen Haiyu,Dou Xinhong,Su Yijun,Wang Kehua,Zou Jianmin,Han Wei 아세아·태평양축산학회 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.6

Objective: Inbreeding depression of reproduction is a major concern in the conservation of native chicken genetic resources. Here, based on the successful development of strongly inbred (Sinb) and weakly inbred (Winb) Langshan chickens, we aimed to evaluate inbreeding effects on reproductive traits and identify candidate genes involved in inbreeding depression of reproduction in Langshan chickens. Methods: A two-sample t-test was performed to estimate the differences in phenotypic values of reproductive traits between Sinb and Winb chicken groups. Three healthy chickens with reproductive trait values around the group mean values were selected from each of the groups. Differences in ovarian and hypothalamus transcriptomes between the two groups of chickens were analyzed by RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq). Results: The Sinb chicken group showed an obvious inbreeding depression in reproduction, especially for traits of age at the first egg and egg number at 300 days (p<0.01). Furthermore, 68 and 618 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained in the hypothalamus and ovary between the two chicken groups, respectively. In the hypothalamus, DEGs were mainly enriched in the pathways related to vitamin metabolism, signal transduction and development of the reproductive system, such as the riboflavin metabolism, Wnt signaling pathway, extracellular matrix-receptor interaction and focal adhesion pathways, including stimulated by retinoic acid 6, serpin family F member 1, secreted frizzled related protein 2, Wnt family member 6, and frizzled class receptor 4 genes. In the ovary, DEGs were significantly enriched in pathways associated with basic metabolism, including amino acid metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation, and glycosaminoglycan degradation. A series of key DEGs involved in folate biosynthesis (gamma-glutamyl hydrolase, guanosine triphosphate cyclohydrolase 1), oocyte meiosis and ovarian function (cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein 1, structural maintenance of chromosomes 1B, and speedy/RINGO cell cycle regulator family member A), spermatogenesis and male fertility (prostaglandin D2 synthase 21 kDa), Mov10 RISC complex RNA helicase like 1, and deuterosome assembly protein 1) were identified, and these may play important roles in inbreeding depression in reproduction. Conclusion: The results improve our understanding of the regulatory mechanisms underlying inbreeding depression in chicken reproduction and provide a theoretical basis for the conservation of species resources. Ginsenoside Rb2: A review of pharmacokinetics and pharmacological effects

        Longxing Miao,Yijun Yang,Zhongwen Li,Zengjun Fang,Yongqing Zhang,Chun-chao Han 고려인삼학회 2022 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.46 No.2

Ginsenoside Rb2 is an active protopanaxadiol-type saponin, widely existing in the stem and leave of ginseng. Rb2 has recently been the focus of studies for pharmaceutical properties. This paper provides an overview of the preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetics for Rb2, which exhibit poor absorption, rapid tissue distribution and slow excretion through urine. Pharmacological studies indicate a beneficial role of Rb2 in the prevention and treatment of diabetes, obesity, tumor, photoaging, virus infection and cardiovascular problems. The underlying mechanism is involved in an inhibition of oxidative stress, ROS generation, inflammation and apoptosis via regulation of various cellular signaling pathways and molecules, including AKT/SHP, MAPK, EGFR/SOX2, TGF-b1/Smad, SIRT1, GPR120/AMPK/HO-1 and NF-kB. This work would provide a new insight into the understanding and application of Rb2. However, its therapeutic effects have not been clinically evaluated. Further studies should be aimed at the clinical treatment of Rb2.

Structural configurations and dynamic performances of flexible riser with distributed buoyancy modules based on FEM simulations

        Chen Weimin,Guo Shuangxi,Li Yilun,Gai Yuxin,Shen Yijun 대한조선학회 2021 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.13 No.1

Flexible risers are usually used as conveying systems to bring ocean resources from sea bed up to onshore. Under ocean environments, risers need to bear complex loads and it is crucial to comprehensively examine riser's configurations and to analyze structural dynamic performances under excitation of bottom vehicle motions, to guarantee structural safe operation and required service lives. In this study, considering a saddle-shaped riser, the influences of some important design parameters, including installation position of buoyancy modules, buoyancy ratio and motion of mining vehicle, on riser's configuration and response are carefully examined. Through our FEM simulations, the spatial distributions of structural tensions and curvatures along of riser length, under different configurations, are compared. Then, the impacts of mining vehicle motion on riser dynamic response are discussed, and structural tolerance performance is assessed. The results show that modules installation position and buoyancy ratio have significant impacts on riser configurations. And, an appropriate riser configuration is obtained through comprehensive analysis on the modules positions and buoyancy ratios. Under this proposed configuration, the structural tension and curvature could moderately change with buoyancy modules and bottom-end conditions, in other words, the proposed saddle-shaped riser has a good tolerance performance to various load excitations.

PEO based polymer-ceramic hybrid solid electrolytes: a review

        Feng Jingnan,Wang Li,Chen Yijun,Wang Peiyu,Zhang Hanrui,He Xiangming 나노기술연구협의회 2021 Nano Convergence Vol.8 No.2

Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, nickel–cadmium batteries and nickel-hydrogen batteries, lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are much more environmentally friendly and much higher energy density. Besides, LIBs own the characteristics of no memory effect, high charging and discharging rate, long cycle life and high energy conversion rate. Therefore, LIBs have been widely considered as the most promising power source for mobile devices. Commonly used LIBs contain carbonate based liquid electrolytes. Such electrolytes own high ionic conductivity and excellent wetting ability. However, the use of highly flammable and volatile organic solvents in them may lead to problems like leakage, thermo runaway and parasitic interface reactions, which limit their application. Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) can solve these problems, while they also bring new challenges such as poor interfacial contact with electrodes and low ionic conductivity at room temperature. Many approaches have been tried to solve these problems. This article is divided into three parts to introduce polyethylene oxide (PEO) based polymer-ceramic hybrid solid electrolyte, which is one of the most efficient way to improve the performance of SPEs. The first part focuses on polymer-lithium salt (LiX) matrices, including their ionic conduction mechanism and impact factors for their ionic conductivity. In the second part, the influence of both active and passive ceramic fillers on SPEs are reviewed. In the third part, composite SPEs’ preparation methods, including solvent casting and thermocompression, are introduced and compared. Finally, we propose five key points on how to make composite SPEs with high ionic conductivity for reference.

Visit-to-Visit Variability of Lipids Measurements and the Risk of Stroke and Stroke Types: A Prospective Cohort Study

        Anxin Wang,Haibin Li,Jinhuan Yuan,Yingting Zuo,Yijun Zhang,Shouhua Chen,Shouling Wu,Yongjun Wang 대한뇌졸중학회 2020 Journal of stroke Vol.22 No.1

Background and Purpose Previous studies suggested increased visit-to-visit variability of total cholesterol (TC) is associated with stroke. This study aimed to investigate the associations of various lipids measurements variability and the risk of stroke and stroke type (ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke). Methods Fifty-one thousand six hundred twenty participants in the Kailuan Study without history of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cancer who underwent three health examinations during 2006 to 2010 were followed for incident stroke. Variability in TC, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) measurements were measured using the coefficient of variation (CV), standard deviation (SD), variability independent of the mean (VIM), and average real variability (ARV). Results During a median of 6.04 years of follow-up, 1,189 incident stroke (1,036 ischemic and 160 hemorrhagic stroke) occurred. In the multivariable-adjusted model, the hazard ratio (HR) comparing participants in the highest versus lowest quartile of CV of HDL-C were 1.21 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.02 to 1.45; P for trend=0.013) for ischemic stroke. The highest quartile of CV of LDL-C was associated with 2.17-fold risk of hemorrhagic stroke (HR, 2.17; 95% CI, 1.25 to 3.75; P for trend=0.002) compared with the lowest quartile. We did not observe any significant association between TC and triglycerides variability with any of stroke. Consistent results were obtained when calculating variability index using SD, VIM, or ARV. Conclusions These findings suggest the high visit-to-visit HDL-C and LDL-C variability were associated with an increased incidence of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, respectively.
