Critical Stability and Stabilization of Discrete-Time Stochastic Systems and Its Applications

        Huiying Sun,Meng Li,Weihai Zhang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2011 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.9 No.6

In this paper, critical stability and critical stabilization for discrete stochastic systems with both state and control dependent noise are discussed via the spectrum technique. The Popov-Belevitch-Hautus (PBH) criterion for exact observability in a discrete version is presented. As applications, some interesting results on a class of generalized Lyapunov equations (GLE), unremovable spectra and dis-crete generalized algebraic Riccati equation (GARE) are obtained. Finally, the problem of assigning the spectra of discrete stochastic systems in a specified disk is considered and some numerical examples are given to demonstrate our results.

Stability and Stabilization of Stochastic Systems with Multiplicative Noise

        Huiying Sun,Meng Li,Weihai Zhang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2011 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.9 No.2

In this paper, stability and stabilization of linear stochastic time-invariant systems are studied based on spectrum technique. Firstly, the relationship among mean square exponential stability, asymptotical mean square stability, second-order moment exponential stability and the spectral location of the systems is revealed with the help of a spectrum operator LA,C. Then, we focus on almost sure exponential stability and stochastic stabilization. A criterion on almost sure exponential stability based on spectrum technique is obtained. Sufficient conditions for mean square exponentially stability and asymptotic mean square stability are given via linear matrix inequality approach and some numerical examples to illustrate the effectiveness of our results are presented.

Metal Adsorbate-Induced Plasmon Damping in Gold Nanorods: The Difference Between Metals

        Pengyu Xu,Xuxing Lu,Junwei Zhao,Yue Li,Sheng Chen,Junfei Xue,Weihui Ou,Song Han,YAPING DING,Weihai Ni 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.9

We presented a single particle study on the metal adsorbate-induced plasmon damping in Au nanorods (AuNRs) through adsorbing clusters of different metals including Pt, Au and Ag. AuNRs with different longitudinal surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) wavelength were measured and investigated individually. Linewidth broadening, plasmon shift and reduction of plasmonic resonance of single AuNRs were studied and compared between Pt, Au and Ag adsorbates. The measured linewidths perfectly match the theoretical predictions of the billiard model with increased scattering coefficients resulted from the metal adsorbates. The results indicate that the plasmon damping in case of Ag is significantly weaker than Pt and Au, which can be attributed to longer relaxation time of free electrons in Ag and therefore less loss of the oscillating plasmon electrons. In contrast to the red shift observed from Au and Pt, blue shift of the LSPR is observed in case of Ag. It suggests that plasmonic properties brought by the metal adsorbates can exert dramatic influence on the nanoparticle that is adsorbed with. We believe that our study not only provides important understanding on plasmon damping but pave the road for the fabrication of complex nanostructures with two or more metal elements.

Phosphorus removal and recovery from wastewater by highly efficient struvite crystallization in an improved fluidized bed reactor

        Bin Lu,Jingcheng Xu,Ming Zhang,Weihai Pang,Li Xie 한국화학공학회 2017 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.34 No.11

Phosphorus is the crucial factor causing eutrophication in the aquatic ecology. The high phosphorus loading in water bodies may result from the direct disposal of untreated wastewater. In this study, a fluidized bed reactor (FBR) was specially developed to remove and recover phosphorus effectively and efficiently via struvite crystallization. Different physiochemical and hydraulic conditions, including hydraulic retention time (HRT), pH, and molar ratios of Mg : P, N: P and Ca :Mg, were explored to optimize the performance of this improved FBR. For the continuous operating trials, promising removal and recovery efficiencies were achieved at the phosphorus concentration of 25.0mg/L: >90% of phosphorus could be removed under the optimum condition (pH=9, HRT=12 h, Mg : P=1.25 and N : P= 7.5). Increasing the recycle flow rate and prolonging the contact time could also enhance the FBR efficiency. The crystal products obtained in FBR were analyzed in terms of composition and structure. Results indicated that almost pure struvite (>99%) was achieved at low calcium concentrations, which could be considered as a high quality fertilizer.

Transcriptome analysis of Grapholitha molesta (Busk) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) larvae in response to entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana

        Cao Zhishan,Cao Jinjun,Vlasenko Volodymyr,Wang Xinfa,Li Weihai 한국응용곤충학회 2022 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.25 No.2

Beauveria bassiana is an entomopathogenic fungus with wide host range and is an important biocontrol agent against the oriental fruit moth Grapholitha molesta (Busck) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), a key pest of tree fruits worldwide. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in the interactions between G. molesta and B. bassiana is poorly understood. Herein, high throughput sequencing technology, the Illumina RNA-seq platform was used to analyze the transcriptome of G. molesta larvae induced by B. bassiana. De novo assembly generated 48,980 unigenes and the mean length is 1,226 nt. All of the unigenes were searched against Nt, Nr, GO, KOG databases, and 23,825 (46.64%) unigenes have been annotated in at least one database. Pairwise comparisons resulted in 1,755 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), with 965 up-regulated and 790 down-regulated. We further explored differentially expressed genes that are related to the infection of B. bassiana to G. molesta, especially the up-regulated ones. The potential immune-related genes were identified based on sequence similarity to homologs known to participate in immune response, and their expression was further verified by qRT-PCR. This is the first study on the molecular mechanism of entomopathogenic fungi-G. molesta interactions. The obtained data also provide insights for better understanding the molecular mechanisms of innate immune responses in G. molesta larvae against B. bassiana.
