Antiinflammatory Activity of Hyperin from Acanthopanax chiisanensis Roots

The chloroform and the ethyl acetate fractions from the roots of Acanthopanax chiisanensis exhibited a significant inhibition of prostaglandin E$_2$ (PGE$_2$)production in rat peritoneal macrophages stimulated by the protein kinase C activator, 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA). Hyperin was isolated as an active principle from the ethyl acetate fraction. It sup-pressed not only $PGE_2$ production but also nitric oxide (NO) production in vitro in a concentration dependent manner. their $IC_{50}$, being 24.3 and $32.9{\;}{\mu}M$, respectively. Hyperin also caused a significant inhibition of increase in acetic acid-induced vascular permeability in mice in vivo.
Development of Subminiature Type 3 Composite Pressure Vessel for Cooling Unit in Electric Appliances

In this study, we have developed a composite pressure vessel that is compact and can store refrigerant at high pressure to increase the refrigerant volume. The composite pressure vessel is made of aluminum-based duralumin, which has high rigidity and excellent elongation in the inner liner, considering the characteristics of products in the aerospace and defense industry, where the safety of the applied product is considered as a priority. High strength carbon fiber was applied to the outside. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed product, burst test and cycling test were carried out. In burst test, an excellent safety margin equivalent to 2.7 times the operating pressure was obtained. In cycling test, a stable failure mode in which "pre-burst leak" occurs is proved and the soundness of the product is proved.

In this study, we solved the human hazard problem of aluminum liner by applying plastic PET liner which is widely used as a material for food and beverage containers in the market. In order to reinforce dome area by using low strength / high elongation plastic liner, The aluminum boss was covered on the plastic liner surface. In order to predict the performance of the developed product, the structural analysis was carried out by applying the three - dimensional laminated solid element, and the soundness of the product was verified through the prototype performance test.

Physical and structural characteristics of four local barnyardgrass flour and starch were investigated. Amylose content ranged from 6.9 to 12.5%. The BP 3563 and BP 3606 were low amylose lines, and the BP 3592 and BP 3610 showed very low amylose lines. Peak viscosities of four barnyardgrass collections BP-3563, BP-3592, BP-3606, and BP-3610 ranged 264 to 2397. All barnyard grass lines displayed an A-type X-ray diffraction pattern showing the strong diffraction peak at around 2~theta values 15~circ , 17~circ , 18~circ and 23~circ , and a small peak at 20~circ 2~theta . Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the starch granule sizes ranged 5.5-12.5~mum in diameter showing polygonal and rarely spherical in shape with round edges and some pores at the surface. Starch crystallinity of BP 3563, BP 3592, BP 3606, and BP 3610 was 23.9, 25.0, 24.7, and 25.5%, respectively.
Isomeric Trimethylbenzyl Radicals Produced by Corona Discharge of 1,2,3,5-Tetramethylbenzene

Isomeric trimethylbenzyl radicals were generated and vibronically excited from precursor 1,2,3,5-tetramethylbenzene, isodurene, with a large amount inert carrier gas helium in a corona excited supersonic expansion (CESE) using a pinhole-type glass nozzle. A long-path monochromator was used to record the visible vibronic emission spectra of the jet-cooled benzyl-type radicals in the $D_1{\rightarrow}D_0$ electronic transition. From the analysis of the spectra, we identified the evidence of the presence of three isomeric trimethylbenzyl radicals in the corona discharge, and obtained the electronic energy and a few vibrational mode frequencies in the ground electronic state for each isomer.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>High-voltage operation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is a facile approach to obtaining high specific energy density, especially for LiNi<SUB>0·5</SUB>Mn<SUB>0·3</SUB>Co<SUB>0·2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> (NMC532) cathodes currently used in mid- and large-sized energy storage devices. However, high-voltage charging (>4.3 V) is accompanied by a rapid capacity fade over long cycles due to severe continuous electrolyte decomposition and instability at the cathode surface. In this study, the sulfite-based compound, [4,4′-bi(1,3,2-dioxathiolane)] 2,2′-dioxide (BDTD) is introduced as a novel electrolyte additive to enhance electrochemical performances of alumina-coated NMC532 cathodes cycled in the voltage range of 3.0–4.6 V. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and AC impedance of cells reveal that BDTD preferentially oxidizes prior to the electrolyte solvents and forms stable film layers on to the cathode surface, preventing increased impedance caused by repeated electrolyte solvent decomposition in high-voltage operation. The cycling performance of the Li/NMC532 half-cell using an electrolyte of 1.0 M LiPF<SUB>6</SUB> in ethylene carbonate/ethyl methyl carbonate (3/7, in volume) can be improved by adding a small amount of BDTD into the electrolyte. Constituents of the Halophyte Salicornia herbacea

Four compounds were isolated from Salicornia herbacea by repeated column chromatography. Their structures were identified as ${\beta}$-sitosterol (1), stigmasterol (2), uracil (3), and isorhamnetin-3-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (4) by spectral analysis and comparison with the published data.
