In this paper, an experimental program has been conducted to investigate shrinkage of fast hardening concrete (FHC) which is used to replace the existing ballasted track with concrete track. In the test, curing method was considered as a test variable. The test results indicated that autogenous shrinkage was dominant on FHC while drying shrinkage was negligible. To represent shrinkage of FHC, a new model has been proposed through regression of the test results.

In this paper, possibility of cracks in fast hardening track has been analyzed with consideration of shrinkage of fast hardening concrete. To evaluate tensile stress on fast hardening track, the analysis considers restrain effects by frictions due to subgrade and rail fastener. The analysis results indicated that the maximum tensile stress in fast hardening track increased as the continuous casting length of fast hardening concrete increased. To prevent cracks due to shrinkage, it was investigated that the continuous casting length be less than 66.9 m.

<P>We test the gauge/gravity duality between the <I>N</I> = 6 mass-deformed ABJM theory with U<I>k</I>(<I>N</I>) × U<I>-k</I>(<I>N</I>) gauge symmetry and the 11-dimensional supergravity on LLM geometries with <I>SO</I>(4)=ℤ<I>k</I> × <I>SO</I>(4)=ℤ<I>k</I> isometry. Our analysis is based on the evaluation of vacuum expectation values of chiral primary operators from the supersymmetric vacua of mass-deformed ABJM theory and from the implementation of Kaluza-Klein (KK) holography to the LLM geometries. We focus on the chiral primary operator (CPO) with conformal dimension Δ = 1. The non-vanishing vacuum expectation value (vev) implies the breaking of conformal symmetry. In that case, we show that the variation of the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) from it’s value in the CFT, is related to the non-vanishing one-point function due to the relevant deformation as well as the source field. Applying Ryu Takayanagi’s HEE conjecture to the 4-dimensional gravity solutions, which are obtained from the KK reduction of the 11-dimensional LLM solutions, we calculate the variation of the HEE. We show how the vev and the value of the source field determine the HEE.</P>

Elizabethkingia miricola BM10, a symbiotic bacterium, has been isolated from the hindgut of Reticulitermes speratus KMT001, a termite which occurs on Bukhan Mountain in Seoul, Korea. This strain demonstrated a symbiotic characteristic, in that it lacked endo-β-1,4-glucanase activity, in a previous study. The major fatty acids of E. miricola BM10 were iso-C15:0, iso-C17:0 3-OH, and summed feature 3 (iso-C16:1ω7c/C16:1ω6c). The content of iso-C17:0 3-OH was higher, while those of ECL 13.566, iso-C17:11ω9c, and summed feature 4 were lower than the other three type-strains of the Elizabethkingia genus. The 16S rRNA phylogenetic analysis confirmed that E. miricola BM10 is a new species. The whole genome of E. miricola BM10 was sequenced. The average nucleotide identity of strain BM10 as evaluated by pairwise comparison with E. anophelis R26, E. meningoseptica ATCC 13253, and E. miricola GTC 862 was shown to be 91.5%, 81.2%, and 94.29%, respectively. Based on our study results, E. miricola BM10 appears to represent a new strain of the genus Elizabethkingia.

In several industries, including the agriculture industry, information and communication technology (ICT) expenditure has been gradually increasing. This study explores the ICT investment of Korean agricultural corporations, and examines the effect of ICT investment on their profitability using an IT portfolio framework. As the organizational capabilities and environment in which ICT is used is critical in examining its impact, the IT-savvy level is used as a moderator. An increase in ICT investment size results in a significantly positive effect on profitability in organizations with higher IT-savvy levels, whereas there is no effect in organizations with lower IT-savvy levels. This study shows the necessity of understanding the structure of ICT investments in the agriculture industry, and suggests the importance of organizational capabilities and environment in making best use of ICT.
Analysis of Nighttime Driver Behavior and Pavement Marking Effects Using a Driving Simulator
Dongmin Lee,Eric T. Donnell 한국자동차공학회 2008 한국자동차공학회 Symposium Vol.2008 No.9
An application of a driving simulator in transportation researches has been extended though a driving simulator was recently developed. In many highway research projects, new highway facilities should be tested before they are applied on the field to ensure safety and efficiency. However, the field tests are limited due to participants’ safety problem and difficulty to make various conditions in the most of those researches. In this study, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Highway Driving Simulator (HDS) was used to evaluate nighttime driving behavior. Nighttime driving behavior differs from that during the day because of differences in the driver’s field of view. Using HDS, a nighttime driving experiment was conducted to collect user perception data of various pavement markings and markers applied to horizontal curves. The effectiveness of each pavement marking was rated using a subjective scale. A fuzzy inference system was used to analyze the subjective pavement marking and marker evaluation ratings provided by the research participants. Pavement marking effectiveness, horizontal curve sharpness, and driver age were used to develop a fuzzy index for nighttime driving condition (FIND).

Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate 3-kinase A (IP3K-A, alternative name: ITPKA) is a neuron-specific enzyme that converts 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) into inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate (IP4) through its kinase domain. In addition, transient overexpression of IP3K-A induces morphological changes in dendritic spines of excitatory synapses in a kinase-independent manner, apparently by modulating the organization of the neuronal cytoskeleton. Although the procurement of a purified recombinant IP3K-A protein would be indispensable for the biochemical elucidation of its physiological roles, production of recombinant IP3K-A has proven technically challenging in conventional Escherichia coil expression systems. These difficulties stem from low enzyme solubility, as well as poor protein quality caused by the tendency of IP3K-A to split into partial fragments. In present study, we newly introduced cold-shock expression vector (pCold1) together with a C-terminal hexahistidine tag (C-HIS) to enhance the expression levels of recombinant IP3K-A in E. coli. Importantly, when compared with other commonly-employed bacterial expression systems, the pColdl system improved the yield and the purity of full-length IP3K-A due to the exclusion of truncated enzyme forms, and also enhanced the solubility of the enzyme. Furthermore, the functional integrity of purified IP3K-A was confirmed in both kinase activity assay and microtubule binding assay. Recombinant IP3K-A acquired via this modified protocol will be expected to facilitate the exploration of the enzyme's biochemical profile, both structurally and functionally. (C) 2014 Elsevier Inc.
