      • 개교환자에 있어서 Digital Sound Spectrograph를 사용한 음향 음성학적 비교연구

        The purpose of this study was to comparing the speech of openbite patients with normal adults and taking the fundamental data for comparing changes in post-orthognathic surgery state. Studies in speech changes of orthognathic surgery have been examined by subjective evaluation. Thus we were taken the objective results using a digital sound spectrogaph with computer-based speech analysis system. One experimental group and one control group were used for this study. They were respectively composed of six openbite patients and ten normal adults with Angles' classification Ⅰ. The results were as follows : 1. In openbite patients, Articulatory positions are formed posteriorly in pronouncing the vowel sounds. 2. Low articularoty sounds were shown in tone color(bandsidths of the first, second formants) of speech of openbite patients. 3. There was no forming the pronouncing constriction remarkable in fricative sound of openbite patinets. 4. There was the delay appearance of articulation reaction time to enlargement of total duration, vowedl duration in openbite patients.

      • 게르마늄 내성효모의 성분분석

        1. 게르마늄 내성효모는 64.0%의 높은 단백질을 함유하고 있었으며 일반효모보다 단백질의 함량이 증가하였으며, 지질, 총당, 환원당, 조다당의 함량도 감소, 또는 증가하는 등 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 게르마늄 내성효모의 총 지방산의 함량은 0.31㎍/g으로 일반효모보다 감소한 것을 알 수 있었으며 특히 포화 지방산의 함량은 현저히 감소하였다. 3. 내성효모균은 asparagine, glutamin acid, leucine의 함량 등의 아미노산 함량이 일반효모보다 증가하였으며, 일반효모균에 있던 cystein이 포함되지 않는 반면, 일반효모균에는 없었던 tyrosine이 포함되어 있는 것으로 나타났다. 4. 내성효모균 단백질의 Sephdex G-75 column과 DEAE-cellulose ion exchange column에 의한 분리 pattern을 일반효모균 단백질과 비교하여 보면, 큰 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와같이 게르마늄 함유배지에 적응시킨 내성효모의 성분이 일반효모균의 성분과 차이가 있는 것은 게르마늄이 효모세포내에 흡착되어 유기 게르마늄을 생합성하는 과정에서 효모세포내의 다른 성분들의 생합성과정에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추측된다. A germanium-tolerant yeast was derived by a series of subcultures in the media containing increasing Ge0_2 concentrations and incubated in the medium containing GeO_2(80ppm). The proximate compositions, polysaccharides, fatty acids and amino acids of germanium-tolerant yeast were analyzed and compared with those of wild-type yeast. The protein of germanium-tolerant yeast was also fractionated by Sephadex G-75 column chromatography and DEAE-cellose ion exchange chromatography and compared with those of wild-type yeast.

        National Dairy Herd Improvement (DHl) program has been processed by Dairy Cattle Improve-ment Center (DCIC) as a branch of National Livestock Cooperatives Federation (NLCF) in order to enhance the dairy productivity of dairy farms in Korea since 1979. This program has been renewed to improve farm management systems by providing useful information in milking productivity, feeding condition and genetics. Under DHI program, all dairy farm records, such as individual milk production, fat and protein components, nutrition level, somatic cell count and reproduction data are collected and analyzed provide information to all members who join this program by monthly in cooperation with member-coops of NACF nationwide using net-work technology. By participating in this Total Dairy Management Consulting Service, dairy farmers, who have memberships, have been able to get new skill and technology and renovate their management. Within the year 2003, over 60% of total dairy herds should be expected to enroll in this program. For DH farmers, DCIC Internet system like World Wide Web (http://www.dcic.co.kr) can be a convenient tool to offer lots of informa- tion related to individual DHI cow's records. Dairy farmers can also order some of merchandise like semen, farming appliances by sending a sheet of invoice to DCIC under this web-site. Farmers may, especially, select and purchase the suitable semen referenced by the report that includes some of guideline of mating on each cow of the farm, which brings newest information on international dairy industry by Internet on DCIC. DCIC dairy network system has been linked to the several network systems such as National Livestock Research Insti-tute (NLRI), National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service OfVRQS), agricultural colleges, livestock associations, private institutions and dairy farms in Korea. Identification system of each cow can be requisite for health survey of animal and for prevention against meat contaminates from some infectious virus as well as tool of breed improvement. So DCIC has held common cow unique ID for a lifetime with other organizations such as 32 DHI centers, breed association (KAIA). These unique ID systems should be most efHciently shared with those organizations using networking technologies which are likely to be of great helpful to all dairy farm-ers and organizations related to competent players in the area of international dairy industry.

        새만금 간척지 첨단온실 에너지 설계를 위한 풍환경 및 온실 피복재의 영향 분석

        본 연구에서는 새만금과 같은 간척지를 활용하여 대규모 첨단온실단지를 조성하는 경우 간척지의 환경적 특수성 중 높은 풍속에 따른 유리 단열재의 에너지 효율을 평가하였다. 현장에서 주로 사용되는 온실 단열재 중 4가지에 대한 평가 결과, 최대 37.4%의 에너지 차이를 보여, 온실 피복재의 선정이 중요함을 제시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 일반적인 내륙에서의 온실을 설계하는 것과 달리, 간척지에서는 내재해성 온실규격을 따라 시설을 설계하여야 하며, 에너지 소비량은 높아진 풍속과 재질을 고려하여 산정되어야 한다. 본 연구의 결과는 에너지 효율성을 온실 피복재의 종류와 풍속에 따라서 제시하고 있으며, 이는 대규모 첨단온실 조성 시 에너지 소비량을 예측하고, 이를 바탕으로 신재생에너지원을 포함하는 에너지 설계에 활용될 수 있다. The external weather conditions including temperature and wind speed in the Saemangeum reclaimed land is different from that of the inland, affecting the internal environment of the greenhouse. Therefore, it is important to select an appropriate covering material considering the insulation effect according to the type and characteristics of the covering material considering the weather condition in the Saemangeum reclaimed land. A hexahedral insulation chamber was designed to evaluate the insulation efficiency of each glass-clad material in the outside weather condition in reclaimed land. In order to evaluate the insulation effect of each covering material, a radiator was installed and real-time power consumption was monitored. 16-mm PC (polycarbonate), 16-mm PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), 4-mm greenhouse glass, and 16-mm double-layered glass were used as the covering materials of the chamber. In order to understand the effect of the external wind directions, the windward and downwind insulation properties were evaluated. As a result of comparing the thermal insulation effect of each greenhouse cover material to single-layer glass, the thermal insulation effect of double-layer glass was 16.9% higher, while PMMA and PC were 62.5% and 131.2% higher respectively. On average the wind speed on the windward side was 53.1% higher than that on the lee-wind side, and the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the chamber at the wind ward side was found to be 52.0% larger than that on the lee ward side. During the experiment period, the overall heating operation time for PC was 39.2% lower compared to other insulation materials. Showing highest energy efficiency, and compared to PC, single-layer glass power consumption was 37.4% higher.

        New Record of Diatom Species in Korean Coastal Waters

        A study on the indigenous diatoms was carried out at 103 sites during August 2008 to April 2011 from the marine and the brackish waters in Korea. A fine structure of small-sized diatoms was examined using a light and scanning electron microscopy. Sixty species of diatoms were newly identified and composed of 3 class, 6 subclass, 16 order, 21 family and 39 genus. The detailed nomenclatures, references, photographs and distributions were here reported. Of 60 species, the most frequent species was Tryblionella coarctata appearing 24 times, and 22 times followed by Thalassiosira lacustris, Cocconeis stauroneiformis was 20 times. In the level of genus, Chaetoceros, Parlibells and Thalassiosira were included 4 species, Actinocyclus, Minidiscus and Licmophora were included 3 species. This study will provide the knowledge of the diversity level of diatom in Korea, the knowledge is important on the diatoms for further studies.

      • Measurements of Thermal Conductivity of Compacted Sand-bentonite Mixtures

        The buffer material plays a role in preventing the excessive rise in temperature generated from the high-level radioactive waste by dissipating the decay heat to the rock. For this reason, the buffer material must have thermal properties to ensure the performance of the deep geological repository. This study measured the thermal conductivity of sand-bentonite according to the mixing ratio to improve the thermal properties. The compacted buffer was manufactured with a sand-bentonite mixing ratio of 6:4, 7:3, and 8:2 with 9 to 12% water content. As a result, the thermal conductivity increases as the ratio of sand increases. As a further study, it is necessary to experiment on whether sand-bentonite’s hydraulic, mechanical, and chemical performance is suitable for the stable operation of a repository.

        Heat stress during summer reduced the ovarian aromatase expression of sows in Korea

        It has been addressed that heat stress due to high atmospheric temperature during summer in Korea induces impaired release of reproductive hormones, followed by occurring abnormal ovarian cyclicity, lower pregnancy ratio, and reduced litter size. Therefore, the present study attempted to compare seasonal change (spring versus summer) of the ovarian aromatase expression, an enzyme for converting testosterone into estrogen. While serum estrogen level in summer group was significantly lower than that of spring group, testosterone was not different between groups. Consistent with estrogen level, the ovarian aromatase expression in summer at follicular phase was significantly lower than the counterpart of spring. The ovarian aromatase expression was positively related with serum estrogen level significantly (r=0.689; P =0.008) and strongly negative correlation was identified (r=−0.533; P=0.078) with atmospheric temperature. The ovarian aromatase expression was not detected in immature ovarian follicles but specifically localized in the granulosa cell layers in both seasons. However, the aromatase intensity in the granulosa cell layers was stronger in spring than summer. Because testosterone level was not different between groups, it could be concluded that the lower level of estrogen during summer might be derived by not lack of substrate but lower expression of ovarian aromatase by heat stress.

        Breeding and Genetics : Estimation of Daily Milk Yields from AM/PM Milking Records

        Daily milk yields on test days were estimated using morning or afternoon partial milk yields collected by official agencies and the accuracy of the estimates was determined. Test-day data for milk yields consisted of 3,156,734 records of AM/PM partial milking measurements of 255,437 milking Holstein cows from 3,708 farms collected from December 2008 to April 2013. A linear regression model(LRM) was applied to estimate daily milk yields using alternate AM/PM milk yield records within lactation stages, milking intervals, and parities on every daily milk yield. The alternate statistical approach was a non-linear hierarchical model(NHM) in which Brody`s growth function was implemented by reflecting an animal`s physiological milk production cycle. When compared with LRM, daily milk yields predicted by the NHM were assumed to be functionally related to day in milk(or lactation) stage, milking intervals, and partial milk yields. Since the results were in terms of accuracies based on comparisons of different statistical models, accuracies of estimates of daily milk yields by NHM were close to those determined by the LRM. The average of these accuracies was 0.94 for AM partial milk yields and 0.93 for PM partial milk yields for first calving cows. However, the accuracies of AM/PM milk yield estimations from cows under a calving stage higher than the first parity were 0.96 and 0.95, respectively. Correlations between the estimated daily milk yields and the actual daily milk yields ranged from 0.96~ 0.98. These accuracies were lower for unbalanced AM/PM milking intervals and the first calving cows. Overall, prediction of daily milk yields by NHM would be more appropriate than by LRM due to its flexibility under different milk yield-related circumstances, which provides an idea of the functional relationship between milking intervals and days in milk with daily milk yields from statistical viewpoints.
