      • Thiamine 誘導體의 摘出腸管에의 吸收에 관하여

        Thiamine-HCI, Thiamine Propyl Disulfide (TPD) and Thiamine Tetrahydrofur furyl Disulfide (TTFD) were studied to stability in artifcial gastric juice and artificial pancreatic juice. And in the in vitro isolated intestine of rabbit, absorption rate of this compounds were examined. The results were as follows. 1. The stability of this compounds in artificial gastric juice and artificial panereatic juice were stable. 2. In the in vitro isolated intestine of rabbit, absorption rate of TPD was increased than that of thiamine-HCI about 20% after 120 minutes. And absorption rate of TTFD was much the same in the case of thiamine-HCI.

      • Bacillus sp. CS-17을 이용하여 제조한 청국장의 발효기간에 따른 향기성분 변호

        전통식으로 담근 청국장과 Bacillus sp. CS-17을 이용하여 제조한 청국장의 향기성분을 비교하였다. 전통식으로 제조한 청국장에서 동정된 향기성분은 hydrocarbone류가 5종, alcohol류가 5종, ester류가 4종, acid류가 3종, aldehyde류가 2종, ketone류가 2종, phenol류가 3종, furan류가 2종, pyrazine류가 4종 등 30종이 확인되었다. Bacillus sp. CS-17을 이용한 청국장에서 동정된 향기성분은 hydrocarbone류가 3종, alcohol류가 2종, aldehyde류가 2종, ketone류가 2종, phenol류가 3종, furan류가 3종, pyrazine류가 5종, pyridine류가 3종, 질소함유화합물로는 2종, thiazole류가 1종, 기타 화합물로 1종 등 모두 27종이 확인되었다. 동정된 성분 중에서 2-hydroxy-6-methylbenzaldehyde, 2-heptanone, 2-furancarboxaldehyde, 2.3-dimethyl-5-ethylpyrazine, 2-picoline, 3-picoline, 5-ethy1-2-picoline, trimethyloxazole, 1,2,6-trimethylpiperidine, 2,4,5-trimethylthiazole 및 chloroform 등의 성분들은 전통식으로 제조한 청국장에서는 확인이 되지 않았으나, Bacillus sp. CS-17을 이용한 청국장에서는 동정되었다. This study was conducted to compare flavor components of chunggugjang fermentated with Bacillus sp. CS-17 to those of traditional chunggugjang. 30 flavor components identified in traditional chunggugjang. 30 flavor components identified in traditional chunggugjang were five hydrocarbones, five alcohols, four esters, three acids, two aldehydes, two ketones, three phenols, two furans and four pyrazines. 27 flavor components identified chunggugjang fermentated with Bacillus sp. CS-17 were three hydrocarbones, two alcohols, two aldehydes, two ketones, three phenols, three furans, five pyrazines, three pyridines, two nitrogen containing compounds, one thiazole and one other compounds. Among the detected components, 2-hydroxy-6-methylbenzaldehyde, 2-heptanone, 2-furancarboxaldehyde, 2,3-dimethyl-5-ethylpyrazine, 2-picoline, 3-picoline, 5-ethy1-2-picoline, trimethyloxazole, 1,2,6-trimethylpiperidine, 2,4,5-trimethylthiazole and chloroform were identified in chunggugjang fermentared with Bacillus sp. CS-17, but not in traditional chunggugjang.

      • 보리등겨로 제조한 간장의 향기성분

        새로운 장류제품으로서 보리등겨의 이용방안을 모색하기 위하여 간장을 만들어 연구하였다. 보리로 제조한 간장의 갈색화는 점차적으로 증가 하였으며 완만한 변화를 보였다. 향기성분으로는 4-vinyl-2-methoxy-phenol, benzeneacetaldehyde, palmitic acid, 2-furancatboxaldehyde, methyl-9, 12-octadecadienoate, di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, diethyl phtalate, dibytyl-1,2-benzenedicatboxylate, 5-methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde, 3,4-dimethyl-1h-pyrazole, phenylethyl alcohol, dioctyl-hexanedioate, dimethyl-1,2-benzenedicatboxylate, benzaldehyde, methional, 2-methoxy-phenol, n-furfurylidene-3-methylbutyl amine, 1-furfuryl-2-formyl pyrrole, tetradrcanoic acid, 5-methyl-pyrimidine, 4-methyl-5-hydroxymethyl-imidazole, maltol, 5-(5-methyl-2-furanyl)methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde 순으로 높은 함량을 차지 하였다. For investigation of new utilization as jang-products, kanjang was prepared using barely bran. This study was conducted to investigate flavor components of kanjang during fermentation time. The optical density was gradually increased. Among the flavor components identified in kanjang made with barley bran, the contents of 4-viny1-2-methoxy-phenol was the most in quantity followed by benzeneacetaldehyde, palmitic acid, 2-furancarboxaldehyde, methyl-9,12-octadecadienoate, di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, diethyl phtalate, dibutyl-1,2-benzendicarboxylate, 5-methyl-2-furancarboxaldehyde, 3,4-dimethyl-1h-pyrazole, phenylethyl alcohol, dioctyl-hexanedioate, dimethyl-1,2-benzenedicarboxylate, benzaldehyde, methional, 2-methoxy-phenol, n-furfurylidene-3-methylbutyl amine, 1-furfuryl-2-formyl pyrrole, tetradecanoic acid, 5-methyl-pyrimidine, 4-methyl-5-hydroxymethyl-imidazole, maltol and 5-(5-methyl-2-furanyl)methyl-2-furancarboxaldegyde.

        A method is presented which enables the computation of the suspended sediment load transport rate as the product of particle velocity and sediment load concentration. In this study, it is assumed that particle velocity is expressed by mean flow velocity near the particle. The data is obtained at San-Gye station at Bochong stream in Geum river and is analyzed by the Einstein H. A., Lane-Kalinske, Chang-Simon-Richardson, and Itakura and Kishi formulas. The results show that estimated values by Itakura-Kishi formula for the calculation of suspended sediment load quantity in small alluvial stream. Itakura-Kishi formula will be able to use on the development of loafer resources at small stream in the future.

        Optimization of Temperature Regime to Screen Cold Tolerant Rice Seedlings

        Low temperature stress at the seedling stage of rice is an important factor causing the leaf discoloration, wilting and consequently leads to non-uniform crop maturation. In order to screen the cold tolerance elite lines efficiently, the five cold treatment conditions with different water and air temperature were designed and treated at seedling stage. For the evaluation of seedling tolerance, the injury was scored by visual rate and measured by Soil and Plant Analyzer Development (SPAD) meter. In the reactions of varieties for each treatment, the treatment ``B`` condition, 12℃ mean water with 24℃ mean air, shows clear discoloration, so it`s correlation coefficient was highest (r=-0.9, P<0.0001) among the treatments. In the treatment condition for screening the cold-tolerance elite line, the cultivar, treatment and their interaction significantly affect the SPAD value. The ``A`` treatment, 12℃ mean water with 34℃ mean air, was the best way to observe the variation between the elite lines. On the basis of the Duncan`s test for SPAD value of cultivars, Keumo (moderate tolerant), Saetbyeol (sensitive) and Seolak (tolerant) were selected as check varieties. To study its impacts at the paddy field, the changes of crop characteristics such as height, panicle length, number of tiller and heading were investigated. In later growth period, the seedling treatment impact at the paddy field leads to heading delay. Due to the low temperature stress at the seedling stage induced by 12℃ mean cold water, Japonica and Tongil group shows the heading delay 4 to 7 and 8 to 11 days respectively.

      • Development of a total variation noise reduction algorithm for chest digital tomosynthesis

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Chest digital tomosynthesis (CDT) is developed to solve the problem of overlapping and absence of depth information as seen in general X-rays applied in chest radiography and high-exposure dose problem of computed tomography. However, in CDT, noise can reduce the quality of the image and increase the rate of false diagnosis. Thus, noise removal is an important issue in the clinical application of CDT, and a total variation (TV)-based noise reduction algorithm is an excellent algorithm because of its high noise reduction efficiency. In this study, we demonstrate the superiority of the TV noise reduction algorithm by quantitative comparisons of analyses with conventional algorithms. The quantitative evaluation of the image quality, coefficient of variation (COV), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and intensity profile are evaluated. The COV and CNR results in the TV noise reduction algorithm are 1.88 times lower and 1.54 times higher than those of the original image, respectively; the smoothest graph is also obtained in the intensity profile. In conclusion, it is expected that the quality of the CDT image processed using the TV noise reduction algorithm is better than that processed using conventional noise reduction methods and the use of our algorithm will increase in the clinical field in the future.</P>

        Controlled releasing properties of gelatin nanofabric device containing chlorhexidine

        We aimed to evaluate the degradation and antimicrobial activity of novel chlorhexidine-containing gelatin nanofabric devices and their cytotoxicity in animals. The electro-spun device with a size of 3.4.0.4 mm<sup>3</sup> was prepared by entrapping chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) in a gelatin matrix. The devices were divided into three groups based on the CHX percentage (G1: 46%, G2: 50%, and G3: 54%), and the commercial product, PerioChip (CP), was used for the control group. We used an in vitro test for the degradation and antibacterial activity and investigated cytotoxicity using an in vivo test. Artificial saliva was used for the degradation test of chips and blood agar plates seeded with the oral bacteria Streptococcus sanguinis to address antibacterial activity. Furthermore, the devices were inserted between the skin and muscle of rat abdomens to evaluate infection and inflammatory reactions. We detected no obvious differences in the antibacterial or degradation test results between the test and control groups. In the histological analysis, the scaffold without CHX showed no signs of infection or inflammatory reaction. Both CHX-containing groups exhibited inflammation and necrosis in the muscle and skin, although the reaction in the test group was milder. In the degradation tests, antibacterial tests, and cytotoxic reactions in animal experiments, the electro-spun gelatin-based device showed similar results to those of the commercial device in the control group. Further studies on the quantitative analysis and clinical outcome evaluation of the electro-spun gelatin-based device in humans are necessary.

        High-Performance, Transparent, and Stretchable Electrodes Using Graphene–Metal Nanowire Hybrid Structures

        <P>Transparent electrodes that can remain electrically conductive and stable under large mechanical deformations are highly desirable for applications in flexible and wearable electronics. This paper describes a comprehensive study of the electrical, optical, and mechanical properties of hybrid nanostructures based on two-dimensional graphene and networks of one-dimensional metal nanowires, and their use as transparent and stretchable electrodes. Low sheet resistance (33 Ω/sq) with high transmittance (94% in visible range), robust stability against electric breakdown and oxidation, and superb flexibility (27% in bending strain) and stretchability (100% in tensile strain) are observed, and these multiple functionalities of the hybrid structures suggest a future promise for next generation electronics.
