        Gap formation and susceptible Abies trees to windthrow in the forests of Odaesan National Park

        Extremely strong winds and heavy rainfall caused canopy gaps in a mixed Abies holophylla broadleaf forest and a Quercus mongolica-dominated forest in Odaesan National Park, Korea in October 2006. The impact of the combination of strong winds and torrential rain on the development of forest gaps and canopy structures were investigated. The mean size of newly created gaps were $205m^2$ in the mixed forest and $86m^2$ in the Quercus forest, and were created by 2.8 and 1.4 gapmaker trees, respectively. Among the 73 trees lost in the mixed forest, 59% succumbed because of direct wind damage while 41% were struck by neighboring trees that fell into them. Most of these trees downed by wind were uprooted (74%), while the trees downed by neighboring tree falls snapped (78%). 21 trees in the Quercus forest died from direct wind damage, and 57% of them were uprooted. Although the relative density of Abies nephrolepis and A. holophylla represented only 0.2% and 6.4%, respectively, of all species in the intact mixed forest, they accounted for 27% and 15%, respectively, of all trees affected by wind on that site. In fact, 85% of the total A. nephrolepis and 91% of the total A. holophylla in the mixed forest fell directly due to strong wind. By contrast, only one Abies species, A. nephrolepis, was found in the Quercusdominated forest, and it accounted for 7.3% of the species composition. These findings suggest that A. nephrolepis and A. holophylla are particularly susceptible to high winds because of their great heights and shallow root systems.

        디지털 미디어가 생활의 일상을 소통시키고 있는 21세기 대한민국에서 새로운 디지털 세대인 어린이를 대상으로 한 교육용 멀티미디어 컨텐츠에 대한 서비스와 관심이 빠르게 중가하고 있다. 그중에서도 컴퓨터를 이용한 온라인게임 컨텐츠는 단시간안에 어린이를 몰입시키는 동시에 흥미를 불러일으키는 동 많은 장점을 가진다 오락이라는 엔터테인먼트의 기능에 교육의 목적을 더한 에듀테인먼트 컨텐츠 개발로 우리는큰 교육적 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 성장하고 있는 어린이에게 긍정적인 개념을 형성하고 이동의 삶을 풍부하게 만들어 준다는 정서 발달은 아동을 위한 교육의 하나로 매우 중요하다 정서 발달을 위한 방법 중 좋은 예로 꼽히고 있는 애완동물 기르기라는 주제를 게임에 접목시키고 아직까지는 초등학교 교과과정에서 열악하게 다뤄지고 있는 동식물 단원에 관한 이야기를 에듀테인먼트 방식으로 표현해보고자 한다 나를 대변할 수 있는 캐릭터와 나의 개인공간을 가지고서 친구들과 친목도모를 하면서 나의 애완동물을 가지고 게임은 시작된다. 애완동물과 여행을 떠나면서 자연에 대한 학습과 미션등을 통해서 이루어지는 친목도모, 선행(도덕성)학습, 도전의식의 학습 또한 기대해 본다. It is easily acceptable that a digital media is penetrating our life at 21century in Korea and it's deep impact to children education also increase people's interest along with service, specifically the contents of the educational digital media. Among a content of the educational digital media, the contents of on-line game have such a huge merit because it inspires a child's interest in short periods in terms of exciting their focusing point. Introducing "Edu-tainment,"a coined word of function of Education and entertainment for amusement, we are expecting that and developing a content of Edu-tainment will produce an educational effect. For a child's growth, it is important to develop a culture of aesthetic sentiments in terms of giving them a positive concept to enrich their life. This study applies a term as keeping a dog which is one of good strategy to increase aesthetic sentiments for a child. This study also represents a story of Edu-tainment at course of animals and plants which is week a curriculum at elementary education. The game starts on the background of having my pet first along with my personal space, 3D character in lieu of myself and friendship with other similar conditions. Travelling with my pet, we will pile up an experience in terms of given mission or natural education and it is expected that this valuable experience will produce a friendship, morality and challenges.

        <P>By rationally employing enzymes for signal amplification, an ultrasensitive aptasensor was developed and successfully tested in a system designed to detect lysozyme with a detection limit of 0.1 fM.       • 예측 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 이용한 이상 밀폐 열사이펀 분석

        A two-phase closed thermosyphon (TPCT) is a closed tube which transfers heat by phase changes of working fluid. In this paper, a simulation program is investigated to design TPCT, and de-ionized water is used as a working fluid. The simulation program implemented with MATLAB, and it is evaluated by Kamyar’s (2013) research. The simulation results are presented, which show temperature distribution, boiling and condensation heat transfer coefficient, and total thermal resistance considering de-ionized water as a working fluid. The temperature error between experimental and simulation results were 27%, 14%, 6% on each of evaporator, adiabatic, and condenser of TPCT. Heat transfer coefficients of simulation results were two times bigger than the experimental results. So total thermal resistance of simulation results were two times smaller than experimental results. This simulation program will be used to design and predict the performance of the new TPCT. This new designed TPCT is made of copper tube and its inside and outside diameter are 10.9 mm, and 12.7 mm each. It consists of three parts, evaporator, adiabatic, condenser and its length are 800 mm, 200 mm, and 400 mm each. The input heat transfer rates are 100 W to 5000 W. Later, this simulation program will be developed reflecting the characteristics of various working fluids.

        In this study, AVWT (Automatic Virtual Wind Tunnel) is developed to estimate of vehicle aerodynamic performance. For the first step of using AVWT, engineer set boundary condition and mesh condition on the main window. As engineer executes AVWT, aerodynamic analysis of vehicle is performed from pre process (mesh generation) to post process automatically. In order to secure the accuracy of AVWT, drag coefficient values of using AVWT are compared with those of experiment for the three typical DrivAer models (Notchback, Fastback, and Hatchback). As a result, the error of the difference between the result AVWT and experiment is less than 5%
