Body temperature is controlled by thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. We report a case of 24 years old man with central fever. He was subjected to a partial excision of pituitary tumor compressing optic chiasm four years ago. He has received hormonal therapy for panhypothyroidism after removal of pituitary tumor. And He received gamma knife operation for partially contrast-enhancing masses in suprasellar and both hypothalamic areas that is probably postoperatively remnant or recurrent tumor of pituitary adenoma. One year after gamma knife operation, he presented with a febrile syndrome of unknown origin including rhabdomyolysis. All usual investigations proved negative. We diagnosed him as central fever with rhabdomyolysis. He received medical ICU care with cooling bed, ice pack. And his symptom improved. Postoperative hyperthermia may result following resection of the pituitary tumor. When central fever is suspected taking note of past history, a quick recognition of course of fever can help reduce the using of unnecessary antibiotics and hospital stay.

Objectives : Lumbar disc herniations at the L1-L2, L2-L3, and L3-L4 level are rare. The purpose of this study is to observe the variable clinical finding of upper lumbar disc herniations and to provide proper treatment modality. Patients and Methods : Between 1998 Jan. and 1999 Dec., seventeen patients with upper lumbar disc herniations who were undergone surgery in our institute were retrospectively evaluated. Patients were evaluated based on following factors : age, sex, aggravating factor, symptoms and signs type of disc herniation, type of surgery, and outcome of post-surgery. Results : The incidence of lumbar disc herniation at the level of L1-2, L2-3 and L3-4 is 6.1% with declining frequency as the level ascends. The peak age incidence is 6th decade in both sex. Preoperative symptomes and signs are variabe. In sixteen cases, posterior approach was done. In these cases, twelve cases were performed microscopic partial hemilaminectomy, and four cases with spinal stenosis were performed total laminectomy and posterior screw fixation with bone fusion. In one case, lateral extracavitary approach was done. In results of operation, fourteen cases showed more than good grade(82%). Conclusion : The age incidence of lumbar disc herniations at the level of L1-2, L2-3 and L3-4 older than lumbar disc herniations at the lower level of L4-5 and L5-S1. The signs and symptoms are variable. In our cases, most of the patients were performed posterior approach with microscopic partial hemilaminectomy except the patients combined spinal stenosis. One case was performed a lateral extracavitary approach because the risk of the cord and cauda equina injuries. The prognosis of upper lumbar disc herniations after treatment with only microscopic partial hemilaminectomy and diskectomy is comparable with the prognosis of lumbar disc herniations at the lower level.

Surgical treatment for chronic back pain in degencrative lumbar spine has been still complicated. Several kinds of devices for spine fusions have been developed, but they have had both some advantages and disadvantages. Recently, the TFC(Threaded fusion cage) instrument has been introduced in treating lumbar spinal disorders associated with degenerative changes. The authors analysed 15 cases of lumbar degenerative disease treated with adequate decompression and TFC instrumentation between October 1993 and March 1994 at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital. There were 10 females and 5 males. The main surgical indication was serious limitation of daily activity, which was not treated conservatively. The preoperative diagnoses were 6 degenerative stenosis with disc, 6 degenerative spondylolisthesis, 2 spondylosis and spondylolytic spondylolisthesis, and 1 FBSS. We observed that 93% of patients(14 of 15) had more than good results and preoperative back pain was markedly reduced. Intervertebral disc space was well restored, and the reduction was possible in spondylolisthesis patients. In our opinion, TFC instrument will be one of good surgical modality in the treatment of degenerative lumbar spine.
설악산과 지리산 국립공원에 서식하는 다람쥐의 연중 관찰 양상과 행동 패턴

본 연구는 2019년 5월부터 2021년 5월까지 무인센서카메라를 이용하여 설악산과 지리산 국립공원에 서식하는 다람쥐(Tamias sibiricus)의 연중 관찰 양상과 행동 패턴을 파악하기 위해 실시하였다. 주차별 관찰빈도를 지표로 하여 관찰빈도의 연중 변화를 파악하였고 봄과 여름, 가을의 시간별 관찰빈도를 이용하여 계절별 일일 행동 패턴을 분석하였다. 다람쥐의 일일 행동 패턴은 지역 및 계절에 따른 차이 없이 주행성인 것으로 나타났다. 두 지역에 서식하는 다람쥐는 연중 관찰 기간에 차이가 있었다. 설악산에서 18~45주차에, 지리산에서는 7~48주차에 다람쥐가 관찰되었으며, 이는 동면시기에 영향을 받은 것으로 판단된다. 두 지역에서 다람쥐는 가을에 가장 많이 관찰되었다. 계절에 따른 다람쥐의 개체군 동태 및 활동량 변화가 무인센서카메라 관찰빈도에 반영되는 것으로 판단된다. 무인센서카메라의 관찰빈도는 간접적인 지표로서 대상종의 서식 밀도와 활동량을 구분해낼 수 없다는 한계점이 존재하지만, 방법이 쉽고 조사자에 따른 편차가 적어 효율적인 모니터링 방법으로 제시될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. This study was conducted to identify annual variation of observation and activity pattern of Korean chipmunk (Tamias sibiricus) using camera traps in the Seoraksan and Jirisan National Parks, South Korea from May 2019 to May 2021. The annual variation was identified based on the observed frequency through weekly observations. Daily activity patterns of the species were also analyzed by season. The daily activity pattern of chipmunk appeared to be constantly diurnal across the years regardless of habitat or season. The Korean chipmunks living in the two different regions were observed in different time periods throughout the year. While the chipmunks inhabiting the Seoraksan were observed from 18<sup>th</sup> to 45<sup>th</sup> week, the chipmunks inhabiting the Jirisan National Park were observed from 7<sup>th</sup> to 48<sup>th</sup> week. This may be influenced by the hibernation period of chipmunks in the two different regions. In both regions, chipmunks were most frequently observed in autumn. It is considered that seasonal variation on population dynamic and activity patterns of chipmunks were reflected in the observation frequency. Although the observation frequency of camera trap is an indirect indicator and thus having a limitation that it cannot distinguish the population density and amount of activity for the target species, camera trapping is still an effective survey technique for monitoring mammals due to its high accessibility and easy use.

To improve control performance of a non-linear system, many other reserches have used the sliding model control algorithm. The sliding mode controller is known to be robust against nonlinear and unmodeled dynamic terms. However, this algorithm raises the inherent chattering caused by excessive switching inputs around the sliding surface. Therefore, in order to solve the chattering problem and improve control performance, this study has developed the sliding mode controller with a perturbation estimator using the observer-based fuzzy adaptive network. The perturbation estimator based on the fuzzy adaptive network generates the control input of compensating unmodeled dynamics terms and disturbance. And the weighting parameters of the fuzzy adaptive network are updated on-line by adaptive law in order to force the estimation errors converge to zero. Therefore, the combination of sliding mode control and fuzzy adaptive network gives rise to the robust and intelligent routine. For evaluation control performance of the proposed approach, tracking control simulation is carried is carried out for the hydraulic motion simulator which is a 6-degree of freedom parallel manipulator.
