동부 F_2 世代에 있어서 莢柄長, 莢長 및 莢當粒數에 관한 遺傳分析

This experimental studies were conducted to clarify the effects of selection, and aimed at estimating genetic parameters such as, gene action, combining ability and heritability on three agronomic characters in Cowpea (Vigna sinensis Savi.). The six different parents and 15 F_2 hybrids by 6×6 diallel crosses were used as materials, and were planted in a randomized block design with three replications. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Vr-Wr graphic analyses Length of pod stalk was found to be inherited in over dominance. and length of pod and seed numbers per pod were inherited in partial dominance. 2. Components of variance: Estimates of additive components of variances were greater than those of dominance components of variances for length of pod and seed numbers per pod. Negative values of F were estimated for two characters, length of pod and seed numbers per pod. The highest heritability value was found in length of pod, but the value of seed numbers per Pod was the lowest. 3. Combining ability analyses: The mean squares of general combining ability for length of pod and seed numbers per pod were higher than those of specific combining ability. 4. Effects of combining ability: The high GCA effects were expressed by variety TVu1857 in length of pod stalk and seed numbers per pod, variety TVu2885 in length of pod. The high SCA effects were exhibited in the hybrids between TVu1857×J78 and TVu2885×J80 in length of pod stalk and seed numbers per pod, TVu1857×TVu2885 and TVu2734×TVu2885 in length of pod. Therefore, it can be concluded that TVu lines could be the useful varieties in cowpea breeding for long pod and high yielding.

This study suggested input variables whose effects have been considered by adjusting various input variables in the TRANSYT-7F and NETSIM, the Simulation programs employed in calculating the delay time at street sections. The results can be summarized as follow. 1. Among the input variables in the TRANSYT-7F needed to calculate the delay time at street sections, the excluded are those which effect the most on time delay, such as bus stops, pedestrian crossings and on/off ramps. Among the input variables the most affecting factors are Saturation flow rate and time delay whose suggested quotients are well summarized in the text of this study. 2. There are variables which affect the change of time delay in the NETSIM, such as bus stop, pedestrian crossing, bus appearance period, and departure time delay. This study did the Simulation program using those variables except pedestrian crossing because, as the result of the correlation analysis suggests, there is a strong correlation between bus stop and pedestrian crossing. In this study, the survey had been done in the morning and afternoon except the Peak time, so heavily congested sections were excluded. And both sides of three street sections were surveyed. Therefore, there should be further studies on heavily congested situations and many other street sections.

프로모터 CpG island 과메틸화와 히스톤 변경으로 대변되는 후성유전적 변화는 거의 모든 종류의 암에서 발견되는 중요한 발암기전이다. 인간유전자의 60-70% 가량이 프로모터에 CpG islands를 가지고 있으며, 이 유전자들 중 일부가 과메틸화됨으로써 해당유전자의 발현이 차단되고, 종양억제기능이 소실되어 종양세포의 성장을 촉진하게 된다. 암에는 프로모터 CpG island 과메틸화라는 국소적 변화 이외에, 유전체 전반에 걸친 탈메틸화를 동시에 보이는 경우가 대부분인데, 이러한 유전체 저메틸화는 염색체 불안정성과 밀접한 연관관계가 있다. 국소적 과메틸화와 전반적인 저메틸화라는 이러한 상반된 DNA 메틸화 변화는 암세포뿐만 아니라 그 전단계 병변인 이 형성 병변에서도 관찰된다. 프로모터 CpG island 과메틸화는 유전자 발현억제 기전으로서의 중요성뿐만 아니라 종양표지자로서의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 즉, 정상세포에서는 관찰되지 않으면서 암세포에서만 관찰되는 프로모터 CpG island 과메틸화는 암세포의 바이오마커로서의 가치가 있으며, 이를 이용하여 체액에서 암을 진단하려는 시도들이 이루어지고, 이를 활용한 암의 분자진단방법이 개발되고 있다. 또한 이러한 DNA 메틸화는 암환자의 예후 판정이나 항암치료제의 감수성 결정 등에 활용되고 있다. 본 원고에서는 인체 암세포에서의 DNA 메틸화 변화에 관하여 소개하고자 한다. Epigenetic changes represented by promoter CpG island hypermethylation and histone modification are an important carcinogenetic mechanism, which is found in virtually all histologic types of human cancer. About 60-70% of human genes harbor CpG islands in their promoters and 5’ exonal sequences, and some of them undergo aberrant promoter CpG island hypermethylation and subsequent downregulation of gene expression. The loss of expression in tumor suppressor or tumor-related genes results in acceleration of tumorigenic processes. In addition to regional CpG island hypermethylation, diffuse genomic hypomethylation represents an important aspect of DNA methylation changes occurring in human cancer cells and contributes to chromosomal instability. These apparently contrasting methylation changes occur not only in human cancer cells, but also in premalignant cells. CpG island hypermethylation has gained attention for not only the tumorigenic mechanistic process, but also its potential utilization as a tumor biomarker. DNA methylation markers are actively investigated for their potential uses as tumor biomarkers for diagnosis of tumors in body fluids, prognostication of cancer patients, or prediction of chemotherapeutic drug response. In this review, these aspects will be discussed in detail.

This study was investigated the physiological properties of auxin-producing bacteria that have plant growth promoting activity and plant pathogen antagonistic ability. Auxin-producing bacteria were isolated from field soils of Gyeongsan, Korea. Selected strains were identified as a Pseudomonas fulva N2l and a Pantoea agglomerans K35 by morphological and physiological test, and Biolog (Microlog) system. Auxins were determined by Salkowski in vitro test and mungbean adventitious root induction bioassay. Also produced indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) was identified by TLC. During cell growth, auxin production were highest in their idiophase after log phase and 35℃ at pH 7.5.

On 20 January 2017, the fresh snow cover which is more than 20 cm, accompaning with lightning occurred over Yeongdong coastal region for the first 3-hour of the heavy snowfall event. This study analyzed sounding observations in the heavy snow period which were including the measurements of wind profiler, radiometer and rawinsonde. The features examined from the vertical wind and temperature data at the two adjacent stations, Bukgangneung and Gangneung-Wonju National University, are summarized as follows: 1) The strong (30-40 kts) north-east winds were observed in the level from 2 to 6 km. The Strong atmospheric instability was found from 4 to 6 km, in which the lapse rate of temperature was about -18°C km<sup>-1</sup>. These features indicate that the deep convective cloud develops up to the height of 6 km in the heavy snowfall period, which is shown in the satellite infrared images. 2) The cooling was observed in the level below 1 km. At this time, the surface air temperature at Bukgangneung station decreased by 4 °C. The narrow cooling zone estimated from AWS and buoy data was located in east-west direction. These are the features observed in the cold front of extratropical cyclone. The distributions of radar echo and lightning also show the same shape in east-west direction. Therefore, the results indicate that the Yeongdong thundersnow event was the combined precipitation system of deep convective cloud and cold frontal precipitation.

Background: An outbreak of eye diseases occurred among workers at a poultry abattoir in South Korea from December 2012 to June 2013. An epidemiological investigation of the causative agent was conducted. The workers were given a special health examination and workplace environmental monitoring was performed. Workers with ocular symptoms subsequently underwent an ophthalmic examination. Case Presentaion: From a total of 41 workers, 26 (63.4 %) were diagnosed with keratoepitheliopathy by ophthalmic examination. Environmental monitoring of the workplace revealed that the ultraviolet (UV) apron-disinfection lamp had not been turning off at the set times, and so the workers’ faces had been exposed to UV radiation. Effective radiation dose measurement showed a UV-B exposure of 7-30 ㎼/㎠, and a UV-C exposure of 40-200 ㎼/㎠; both values exceed the occupational exposure limits. The outbreak ceased after the lamp was repaired. Conclusions: This case shows that inappropriate use of the UV disinfection lamp can cause mass photokeratitis. In order to prevent this, the UV disinfection lamp must be checked regularly, workers must be educated on the health effects of UV radiation, and appropriate eye protection must be worn.
