In this paper, a variable motion estimation scheme based on HBMA(Hierarchical Block Matching Algorithm) to improve the performance and to reduce heavy computational and transmission load, is presented. The proposed algorithm is composed of four steps. First, block activity for each block is defined using the edge information of differential image between two sequential images, and then average block activity of the present image is found by taking the mean of block activity. Secondly, camera pan compensation is carried out, according to the average activity of the image, in the hierarchical pyramid structure constructed by wavelet transform. Next, the LUT classifying each block into one among Moving, No Moving, Semi-Moving Block according to the block activity compensated camera pan is obtained. Finally, as varying the block size and adaptively selecting the initial search layer and the search range referring to LUT, the proposed variable HBMA can effectively carries out fast motion estimation in the hierarchical pyramid structure. The cost function needed above-mentioned each step is only the block activity defined by the edge information of the differential image in the sequential images.

The objectives of this study were: (1) to determine the impacts of high fat diet-induced obesity on mitochondrial function and insulin resistance in aged skeletal muscle and (2) to determine the effects of exercise training on mitochondrial dysfunction and insulin resistance induced by obesity and aging in skeletal muscle. Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: 4-month young control (YC), 20-month old control (OC), old high fat diet group (OH), and old high fat diet and exercise group (OH+EX). After obesity was induced by 7 weeks of 60% high fat feeding in old groups, treadmill exercise training was performed 6 times a week for 7 weeks. Mitochondrial function (e.g., H2O2 emission, Ca2+ retention capacity) was measured in permeabilized skeletal muscle (e.g., soleus, and white gastrocnemius), and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and Western immunoblot analysis were performed to determine insulin resistance. Mitochondrial H2O2 emission was increased in white gastrocnemius (type IIb muscle) of OC and OH compared with YC. However, exercise training attenuated mitochondrial H2O2 emission in OH+EX compared with OC and OH. Mitochondrial Ca2+ retention capacity was not significantly altered between groups in soleus (type I muscle). However, in white gastrocnemius, mitochondrial Ca2+ retention capacity was reduced in OC and OH compared with YC and, conversely improved in OH+EX compared with OC and OH. Insulin resistance was also increased in OC and OH compared with YC. By contrast, insulin resistance was attenuated in OH+EX compared with OC and OH. In conclusion, our data reported that high fat diet increased mitochondrial H2O2 emission, reduced mitochondrial Ca2+ retention capacity, and induced insulin resistance in aged skeletal muscle. However, exercise training reduced mitochondrial H2O2 emission, improved mitochondrial Ca2+ retention capacity, and attenuated insulin resistance in aged and obese skeletal muscle, suggesting that exercise training plays a protective role in aging and obesity (i.e., sarcopenic obesity)-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and insulin resistance in the rat skeletal muscle.
디지털 영상 확대를 위한 적응형 Pseudomedian 필터의 설계 및 성능 분석

It is known that a digital image enlargement technique can increase the size of the image but the practical enhancement of resolution is trifle because the frequency bandwidth of the original image is basically limited. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the digital image enlargement technique which interpolates the interpolation points of honzontal and vertical direction by weighting according to the direction of edge information with the component of FOI(Filst Order Interpolation) and output of the pseudornedian hiter for image enlargement and interpolates the interpolation points of diagonal direction by selectiveIy transposing the direction of the subwindows of the pseudornedian inter accordding to the distribution of neighbored pixels thereto in the extanded image. Accordding to the proposed metheds, the digital image enlargement which preserves the characteristic of the pseudornedian filter capable of keeping the reconstruction of edge information and ref1ects the advantage of FOI can be performed. Therefore, visual artifacts could be effectively suppressed, and most characteristics and shapes of the original image call be reconstructed as well.
